Before all, read this text to end:

 

There are alredy some posts about this "feature", i know. But, the reason many players want this added is well know, bad nickname.

I know that any mod that comes will say:

1.Nickname is just a "decoration" for player. It is not neccesary to play game with some special name.

       Nickname IS a "decoration" for player. But come on. Every single game has a chance to change nickname or 

       of something ONCE for free. Let me take Maf's name for example (nothing personal or something, just came

       to my mind befor anyone else). What nickname is better, Maf or Maf_the_mod_123? I guess Maf. Most

       players dont really care about their nickname at 1st, but later on, they want a change to it. Players should be

       able to change it ONCE without spending money.

2. "Whoever wanted to change nickname had 3 weeks to do so."

       3 weeks... for some tankers more than enough time, for more tankers, not. Especially low ranked players.

       Older generations had that chance to change nickname for 100k crystals. But, anyone who registered after  

       that,  can not. Some tankers dont have much time to play and had no chance to gather 100k crystals to 

       change name.

       Simple as it is.

3. "Tanki needs money!"

       I know that TO community needs money to live, too. Nickname change is something that matters to many  

       players. I see in chat sometimes players get insulted because of nickname. Never happened to me though.

       18 $ is not much, but also not pretty small amount of money for F2PP. If someone is F2P player, no matter

       how hard he/she wants to change nickname, he/she wont. 18$

4. "Nickname can be change by waiting"

       Really nice motivation for players to keep them play. It is like u say this: "You want to change your nickname

       for free? Dont come to this game next X days and it will be done.", but on polite way. For me, i guess, it 

       comes... 26*10=260 days... Let's say i want to do this. Who says i will remember tanki and come back?

       You lose people this way. Think...

 

My idea is: add rename pass to garage only ONCE to be able to buy for X 000 crystals, or free*. If some players are happy with their nick, they just dont need to do anything with it. Just like i dont touch blue sphere.

 

And, trust me, any other excuse you give me, i will hapilly give u an answer.

This has just a slightly higher chance of being added than the idea of rename pass being permanently moved to garage.  But even then, I really doubt it. I do agree with the idea though - it's annoying to have to pay for nickname changes when a lot of similar games do it for free.

 

A rename pass could be rewarded to the player once they reach the first Legend rank, since that would keep it pretty balanced. So if you want to change your name when you reach higher ranks, you either wait and grind until you are Legend, or you buy from the shop if you don't feel like waiting.

I agree with Mafioso. Tanki is a big P2W game already, and usually, if you want to change your password without buying it costs 100k. I mean really? The closest I have gotten to that is 60k (On this account) It would be better to put it at Brigadier instead of Legend (Because my other account is brigadier, why else)

Mafs idea is good, my wish is to add rename pass at least once, even when you reach Legend rank.

very well written Thread to be honest, i'm the guy who posted the first two threads about the rename pass problem, they both got declined way too fast so i'm glade to see this one get at least the chance to be discussed.

 

few things to mention i hope the admins realise:

 

1.@Maf idea about giving a free (or paid via crystals) rename pass in the garage for the players that reach legend only is an exellent idea in my opinion, low ranks usually never care about nicknames, and even if they do, this idea will incourage them to PLAY MORE to reach legend rank, a win win setuation for Tanki.

 

2.making player not play for +300 days just to change theire nickname is a bad strategy, and it's only make players quit this game and forget about it.

 

3.i hope you understand that a free player will never pay in this game, even 1$ , plus there is moderate buyers (like me) that have to wait 3 freaking years just to get a free new nickname, who's gonna wait that long, i only got like few crystal bundles over the years, now i will never buy anything in any new account if that is gonna get my account a 3 years reservation on the nicknames list.

 

4.most of us, only want a 1 nickname change, so 1 free nickname change at legend rank will be really appreciated from everybody and will stop the complains about the rename pass forever.

 

i hope the staff find a middle solution that get Tanki more money, and in the same time, give the free players and moderate buyers a slight chance to get a new nickname too, let wait and see...

You wrote that nice, though. As he said, Mafs idea about rename pass available on legend ranks is great and kinda motivating. For example, i wanna change nickname, but i will not spend a $ on game. If i need 5-6 ranks more to get that for free, i will play more to get it. But i will have to think about it bcs it will be available for me only once (or every X legend ranks).

          I do not agree. Good nicknames are to be purchased by money, just the same way it works in real life, when you want a preferential number for your car, you go pay (extra) for it. If you hit Legend with a nickname, you can keep on wearing it (for free) as long as you like. If buyers have to pay for nickname change, then why non buyers can get it for free? You can't compare nickname change and number for your car. Let me tell you:

1. (in real life) Real life name and car number: If you want to change your name in real life (RL), you dont have to pay. Name is something that makes "ego" for person. Number for your car, does it really matter, 12345 or 21534? It is something very very unnecessary.

2. (in tanki online) In game nickname and paints (number for car/tank). If you dont pay chaning name in real life (or very small price), then why to pay in game? At least once. As in real life car numbers dont matter, paints also kinda dont matter. Nothing will happen if you use Green, Golden Star or Glitch paint.

  If you hit Legend with a nickname, you can keep on wearing it (for free) as long as you like.

Where does it says that buyers wont get a free rename pass once they reach Legend rank? Idea is that everyone gets 1 free rename pass, buyers or non buyers. If someone wants to change nickname on, let's say, 3rd Lieutenant rank, and he/she cant wait to reach Legend rank to change nickname, he can buy rename pass in shop for 17$ or 18$ (whatever the price is). How will tanki know who is buyer or non buyer after all?

 

I don't see any logic, not even for once, just because non buyers want the same rights with buyers.

And what are those rights? Being able to change nickname once for free when you reach highest rank, that is able in every single game, in some you can change nickname for free every day 100 times (Pirate Storm for example. (kinda buyer game also)). Also, that could be kinda gift for those players who spend hrs. and hrs. to reach 1.6M exp. You may think that 40K crystals per every Legend rank is enough, but is it? For most "loyal" players.

 

 

 

 

Now, i guess you took a look only from your side. Generalissima is nice nick. Let's say your nickname is generalissima_the_great123. Would you like it? No? You may ask: why dont players choose their nick good from beggining, and think about it? Some players just register to "test" what the game is like. Reach 2-3 ranks, like the game, continue to play, have not good nickname, are F2P players. They reach high rank, dont like their nick, but they think "i got 700K exp, i wanna nick change, if i start from the beggining, it will take me a lot o time to reach this rank". Now, some players continue to play on that acc, some players decide to open new acc, play  a little, leave game, and others just slowly began to quit, just as i did 2 yrs ago.

Is this really what tanki needs? Just because nickname should be "premium for buyers"? Just because tanki depend on those 18$ that will non buyer never spend on game, or buyer who will spend not 18, but 18000$ for something? If tanki could live with system that players changed nick for 100K crystals by contacting TO support and so on, why couldnt they live with 1 free nickname change and then on 18$ per change? I dont see logic in making nickname change available for money only. It's ok that they put rename pass to garage to remove that waiting time and time of people standing behind help@tankionline.com, but it could be available for 100k in garage. Look this "problem" from position of those who are not satisfied with their nickname.

I would rather leave this for devs to decide, i gave just idea, now its just on them to decide number of chances if there will be anything at all. Hope this wont wait 2 years to decide

Second Chance Rename

 

Hello, had an idea that would like a lot of people, giving a second chance after some time being in the game.

Me I had already 4 years and it would be impressive giving some option to get a rename with a long cooldown depending on your rank and activity in-game.

 

If that sounds already bad then adding new missions (200% more score to make than regular ones) wich consist on gather the pieces (0/5)

Nearly everyone who is a non-buyer, and wants to change their nickname hates the re-name pass update.

 

My idea is simple and short, just change it to pay 100k for changing your nick once. Then, Tanki would charge you $$ for that.

 

This will be easy to implement, and will not result in much loss in revenue to Tanki.
