Prevent turrets from sinking into the ground

Recommended Posts

It would be good to roll up an update which causes turrets of flipped tanks to lay down on the ground, rather than sinking below that map which is annoying because sunk turrets are not realistic.

It would be better for players to either destroy flipped tanks or to push them back on their tracks again.

In Tanki X, developers recently rolled up an update to make sure that flipped tanks does not have their turrets buried below maps.

Removing the delete button will be a good thing to do, along with releasing an update to stop turrets of flipped tanks to sink below the ground of maps, which is not realistic, and makes it impossible for team mates in team battles to get you back on your tracks.

Under review

I do agree about the sinking Turrets and it indeed doesn't look realistic at all so that is a plus for you right there.

About your second idea, it has already been declined and the self-destruct option will not be removed, reasons are given in your previous topic as well and most importantly, please don't forget to suggest 1 idea per topic, otherwise, the topic can get locked and marked as invalid.

Actually a very cool suggestion. It indeed is very much not realistic. Would I be right in saying turrets don't have their own hitboxes yet? If they don't, they definitely should (though this would a minor update, it would change a lot and Magnum would probably reach only till the tip of its barrel, instead of the entire way up) happen. This would mean that your centre of balance would pivot along the turret's centre of balance, thus making you unable to flip completely flat. This would be interesting in XP/BP, possibly some ingenious shots might arise!

Thanks for agreeing on my first topic. I really hate to see the turrets of flipped tanks sink below the maps. You should raise your hands at the developers and ask them to release an update to fix this issue. Sinking turrets does not look realistic and the other problem related to this is that when team mates in team battles push you, trying to flip you back on your track, they cannot do so because your tank's turret has sunk below the map which makes it impossible for your tank to get back on your track again.

I have seen in other games, like the Grand Theft Auto series, when flipping car and tanks, for a limited amount of time, the velocity of speed movement and the actual shape of the vehicle, which does not sink below the map causes your vehicle to flip back onto its wheels or tracks again. However, if your vehicle remains upside down for too long, it will take damage and explode.

In Tanki Online, tanks are not supposed to explode and self-destruct when flipped, but team mates in team battles pushing you are supposed to flip you back on your tracks again. That is the reason why an update should be rolled out to fix this problem. If you've been watching the developers dairy of Tanki X, you would have heard in one of the episodes that an update was rolled out to make sure that flipped tanks don't have their turrets sink below maps.

When team mates in team battles push you back on your tracks again, this reduces the number of self-destruct penalties. It also makes your team mates correspond and take action to save you from being stuck upside down unable to move, so my suggestion is for the developers of Tanki Online to take action and release an update to stop once it for all the annoying sinking turrets below maps of Tanki Online.

You need to understand that turrets have solid hardware just like hulls do. You can prove this when shooting at a Magnum by using Shaft in sniping view, so turrets are solid hardware, even when they flip over, so turrets should stay on the surface of the maps, instead of sinking below, which is not realistic.

In Tanki Online everything has to look realistic. One thing that needs updating would be the graphics of Tanki Online. With better graphics, players would enjoy playing Tanki Online better.

Yes, you are correct. Turrets don't have enough hitboxes!

By having this update rolled out, it would mean that your centre of balance would pivot along the turret's centre of balance, making you unable to flip completely flat. This mean when using Magnum, when rotating your Magnum up to 90 degrees, you would be able to flip sideways. When shooting sideways with Magnum, you could push yourself upwards back onto your tracks, only if you use a light hull.

I personally think that this update will really help players get back on their track without any difficulty and by the help of team members pushing you back on your track.

Turrets do already have hitboxes, as they can be hit by turrets like shaft. It would probably just be a case of making the hitbox count as solid...

Would that cause any problems in low-ceilings with dic?

No. There shall not be any problems with low ceilings with Dictator because low ceilings are higher than Dictator itself, so tanks using this hull can still pass through without any problems.

I've witnessed more then once , that a fire can still do damage and kill you when flipped , the fire still emerges from under the tanks . other hulls wont do it , not even selfdamage ( except overheating for vulcan ) . Make it at least the same for all ...

To be honest with you, that causes self-damage and causes your tank to self-destruct. That's not what I am asking for. What I am asking for is to have turrets to be on ground level, rather than to sink below ground. By having turrets to be on ground level when tanks flip upside down, will enable team mates to get flipped tanks back on their tracks. The good advantage of this is to reduce the number of self-destruct penalties which causes the annoyance for players to have their score and crystal fund roll back due to self-destruction.

okay if you're using mammoth and you get flipped the weight of your hull should crush your turret and ignite the ammo inside causing you to self destruct.

but if you're using wasp then nothing happend, your turret won't sink into the ground.

If a turret becomes a "solid object" (or however to put it) then turrets with long barrles mounted on small hulls will get stuck when they drive past a wall. You could also forget peek-a-boo gameplay behind walls or buildings, if you can not stick the turret in the wall any longer.

Maybe the central part of the turret could become solid, while the barrels should not.

edit: I just saw Adriel.RB's post (the video) and that's pretty much what I proposed..

It does not matter in solid turrets hit walls. Players can till do the peek-a-boo technique when using certain turrets like Railgun or Shaft. For Magnum players, they will need to learn to put their turret down at a horizontal angle so that they don't flip their hull when passing through a low elevation tunnel.

That is something that players will need to get used to. Those would become new turret skills due to the solid turrets.

This will open a whole can of worms if taken seriously, BUT

the image of a Magnum flipping because the upright barrel got caught on a low ceiling is too funny.  Stopped in their tracks!

Honestly, "solid" turrets are not needed for the implementation of your idea.

Take Monte Carlo for example.  If a Viking is not flush against the concrete barriers, but rather a bit behind it, than it can be hit from either angle.  But with solid turrets it would never be able to peek out and fire this way.

Yes, it would be funny for an upright Magnum to flip over when passing through a tunnel. Like I said, players would need to be careful.

However, solid turrets are needed to flip tanks back onto their tracks as I suggested in my first post.

All my ideas are good, whether they get accepted or declined, they still help inspire other to get similar ideas.

Thanks.

I gave you a compliment so don't drag it lol. Not all your ideas are good.

Thanks for the compliment. I am not dragging it. However, I do agree with you that I sometimes make mistakes in the topics I post and lose the plot. This happens to everyone. The good news is that even my declined topics are still read by viewers, and they get other ideas put into their heads.
