Also, I wanted to ask, O Mr. Onion King, are onions usable in warfare against tanks?  Or as balls in cricket?

 

On a more serious note, that got me thinking.... are violent stories even allowed by the Tankilaw in the AWC? 

Yes, it is usable as balls in cricket. As for warfare against tanks, well, no.

 

Nope, they are not allowed. I remember catching BrownPebble hiding an old newspaper story called 'Hallucinations'. When I asked him about it, he justified it by saying that it was a very violent story, which it was.

 

 

Trust me, the story was one of the best I've read till date, but believe me, I can't tell you how horrific the theme was, could definitely take the sleep out of a not-so-mentally-fit-fellow (that's plentiful on the internet) for a couple of days

First of all, that's a question better for answering in the FAQ section. But let me explain a bit: It does say this:

"2.3.17. Publication of information that causes fear, horror or panic in children, including  descriptions of death, diseases, suicide, accidents, emergencies or disasters and (or) their consequences, other information that may damage health or development of minors"

There's a few things to think about here: First of all, we're assuming that the violence would have to be graphic enough to actually mentally scar a child. So that's why here in AWC, we have much fewer issues with implied mature content, since it isn't descriptive enough to actually produce a mental image. When scenes in an article are slightly more explicit, we've historically added warnings in the title. We have declined extremely violent articles in the past, in accordance to both the Tanki rules and our own standards. These include exceedingly violent stories or ones with disturbing themes. 

 

Essentially, the rules goes on the base that it's any sort of graphic information or description of harm that could traumatize a minor. So if the violence isn't shown in an image or explicitly described, it's usually fine. However, this is up to the discretion of Amateur Writing section helpers; if moderators found problem with it, then they would let us know so we could change our standards.
