tankionline.com loading hundreds of advertisement files

Recommended Posts

Greetings. I have been planning on returning to the game for a while, and it has finally happened. But there's a problem... My game lags like hell on steroids because it loads hundreds and hundreds of ad files... Intrusive ad files.

I have AdblockPlus extension, and the problem is on the site, not the extension. As I write this, AdBlock has detected 500+ intrusive files being blocked, and while it blocks ads, it lags like a crocodile walking backwards on a plane to australia... I will have a snippet sent on the thread, and I am worried that the site that I have played on for more than 2 years is being malicious...

Do not disappoint me, moderators, and help me please... It is very suspicious with all the ads being loaded...

I would recommend playing Tanki Online's official client, which you can get on the official homepage.  You won't find any ads on the client version.

Also, I'd want to ask you: what browser are you using?  What type of computer and operating system are you on?  Have you installed any extra applications on your computer (i.e. Audacity, VLC Media Player, etc.)?

You should scan your PC with anti-virus, because it sounds like you accidentally picked up a ton of malware that's flooding you with ads from within. You're pretty much the first person to complain about this, so the issue seems to be on your end.

It sounds like your PC is infected by viruses. Read this How to get rid of malware? I would recommend you to install free trial of premium version of Malwarebytes. To make sure your system is completely virus free install Adw cleaner by malwareBytes and HitmanPro  as well. Scan your PC with these 3.

Don't use Norton...

Go to Google and search "Best Antivirus"

Google will give you a list

install an antivirus on that list

Also, get the kaspersky cleaner thingy, which is a usb that cleans your computer

if you backed up your system, load that snapshot. Beware, anything since that snapshot will be lost

My AdblockPlus says that it blocked "5 on this page", then it says "655 in total", but I think the later is about all the websites I have visited.

My NoScript shows about 9 scripts of which it blocks doubleclick.net and few others.

Like Many have said, I think you have a malware problem with your PC.

Malwarebytes can help but usually malware leave some kind of backdoor open for other stuff to infect your pc again.

There's usually files found in the registry which are sometimes missed by Malwarebytes. Antiviruses are a hoax.

True slav knows where to search and how to use registry to eliminate western spy.

In all seriousness; I happen to use the regedit all the time when I find there's something strange going on, that is if you know where to search for.

Adblockers may block the adware but they won't delete them. A lot of stuff goes on unnoticed in the registry.

Kaspersky works good as well. It is a Russian antivirus.

McAfee and Norton are the top two. So what's wrong with Norton? I've used Norton and AdBlockPlus for years and have had no problems. I spend a lot of time surfing the web. Norton has kept my computer safe.

Just because you had no problems doesn't mean Norton kept you safe. You simply may not have encountered any threats.

Okay, but wasn't McAfee the one that blocked the internet for a few days a few years ago because it detected "potential viruses"?

Norton is a good first-layer to prevent you from wandering into dangerous sites in the first place.

I am so glad to see splitterpoint shining again :)

You may try followings:

Remove all unused programs

Install Ublock, a good alternative of AdBlock (you can manually pick ads that the plugin doesn't eliminate itself)

Uninstall chrome, delete all hidden uninstall information folders and all that pile of garbage.

Best solution: Ask your real life friends/relatives for proper help!

If anyone else can confirm this but with some ad blocking extensions, it does detect some adds on the main page.

Probably random stuff that the software detects.

Confirmed, as TO is a safe site, I manually turn uBlock off, so it doesn't interfere my connection.

Edit: It's possible that uBlock is deleting ads coming from your Google folder, and if you turn it off, well, you will feel bad.

I use Norton and AdBlock Plus, too and I have wandered into potential threats. Norton blocks them and won't let you go any further. That's how it keeps your computer safe. You can also click on the icon in the taskbar and see what tasks Norton has done to keep you safe from the time you boot up until the time you close down. It keeps a running tally until you delete them.

It tells you what "risks" have come your way, the level of the risk and what action needs to be taken, if any. Norton will deal with the low risks. Once a very high risk hit my computer. Norton put it in quarantine. It instructed me to click on quarantine and to follow instructions. Which I did.
