Problem:

I can't change the password for this account.  Every time I attempt this it sends directions to my linked email address.  The problem is that my email address was hacked and after multiple attempts to recover it Microsoft locked me out forever.  And of course I can't change the email address either.

 

Solution:

Players should be allowed a separate option to change their email address.  Instructions are sent to the email address that they want to switch to but the password (or a private piece of information like their first purchase in the game) is necessary to change it.    Or we can introduce a security system with the game asking for you to name your "best friends" which would have selected at any time but then locked away.

From there, the password can be changed via the old method.

The idea is to add something like the "recovery question" for most email service providers.
