Assault Mode arrives December 13th

One of the few maps where Striker can make a difference.  It has the high ground and with an isida healing it, (Blue must have multiple isidas) the striker can devastate attackers that have few choices of approach.

Yes. But if Blue team is too strong, Red team will only capture a few flags. Also, they will try less to capture and start camping. So it means less funds. Just like this :D

Can't understand how you guys say Strikers works great in Silence map for blue team -- the time it takes to lock target, by that time, someone else kill that target & got a kill while you sit there with zero score. Silence always support for magnum for blue team, be it any mode, be it old or new map.

 

I noticed the Kungur capture point moved. Good job by the designers. Kungur like Osa is now a Blue-dominant map.

Osa isn't a blue-dominant map, its a balanced map, if red team coordinate their attack, they can win, otherwise blue as well as same applies to blue team. All you need is perfect coordination in Osa map to win.

you don’t keep trying to lock on target for striker to play it you can shoot one by one and if you only shoots a whole salvo at a time and not trying to shoot one by one then of course you would say that it sucks if you time it correctly shooting one by one can be as deadly as a normal thunder shot.

You cant get a kill shooting one by one, because others will kill your target & get high score. Lots of stealers in this game.  :(

I hope that the achievements for Assault Mode will be added very soon. I really hate to see the achievements missing, when looking at the medals I have achieved in the other modes. The developers must do what's necessary for such medals and notify us in the upcoming V-Log.

Ditto for profile. I would like to see how much time I have played Assault Mode (and soon Rugby) compared to the traditional CTF, CP, DM.

Why you say "soon" for Rugby mode? :D we can take a bet. Rugby mode will not be released before a few months. And I'm ok with that. They must take their time to make this mode right. But I don't really see how they will prevent Magnums of ruining it ^^

In Stadium map, Magnums may not create much problems in Rugby mode, but it will be Shaft & railgun creating all problems which will kill enemy isidas as well as ball-carriers sitting on top ramps. Magnum safe hiding position is only ground garage on both sides, if they remove that garage, then magnum open to shafts.

Don't get me wrong - I'm one of Strikers biggest critics - in most cases I think it is trash.

 

However, on Silence Blue (Assault) it can perform well.

Camp on right side at top of ramp with heavy hull and shaft/magnum protection.  Lay some mines on ramp.

You have a great view of all those long-range enemies plus the spawning area where flag would be.

You need to use a lot of single shots but believe it or not, many of those Magnums on far side stay still long enough for a lock.

Plus - anyone coming up the ramp you will get off a salvo too.

 

Of course it helps that there's usually at least one isida healing you since that is one of only two ways to cap a flag.

I agree, but unless I misheard, VLog said Rugby would be here before the end of this year.

 

And OMG, they flipped Yorkshire! Red team is now where Blue team used to be and Blue team is now on old Red side. Lots of movement with the center buildings too. Maybe old news but it seems very easy for Blue team to spawn kill Reds now.

I use AS mode to practice with other weapons, even if those are of lower modification, like Striker, it's fun. Of course I join the best sides like red Polygone and blue Silence Please.

 

But there are fewer and fewer AS battles.

 

EDIT: I just played Polygone AS, it's harder now for red with 5 points, didn't have the chance to use Striker :( but my noob team still managed to defeated the noob druggers.

It is coming before the end of this year, said the developers.

Magnums can still hide behind the broken walls, or even at the bottom of each base, behind the large wall. Unless developers remove them too.

They are not releasing Rugby in Stadium map this year, said the developers. They said they'd let us know later, so very likely they'll make changes to the current Stadium map so they can put it for Rugby mode, sometime next year.

 

 

Or, very likely that the christmas/new years map will be another type of stadium map, like I had said sometime ago, *shrugs* , wait for two more days till the next vlog comes out.

Nah, most maps are enough with one blue base. It is however arguable that some maps seem fit for having two blue bases, but it's upto the developers to figure out if they need to and where they need to place them.

i meant that there will be two capture points so that blue will have to defend two points so that the defenders of the first point will be spread out

I know. And what I said is that most maps seem suitable with only one capture point, whereas others seem more fit for two capture points. I really honestly can't list out which maps would be better for which, simply because I haven't played them all enough yet to do so, but I hope you get what I mean. :P

of course i get what you mean 

 

and they should sometimes make it the opposite way like blue team controls the places where the flags are and red controls the capture point

Sadly, Assault seems less and less popular as the days go by. I get that the Mode has both fans and critics, but I expected players to play it much more than the 8-12 battles I see at any given time (at Legend).

 

IMO part of the problem is the design changes meant to favor Blue defenders, in response to early criticism that Red just rolled right over Blue in most maps. Now, many maps favor Blue defense.

 

The problem? Players can defend in CP, TDM, and CTF. Making Assault Mode defense-oriented defeats the purpose of having it as a separate mode. Assault is the only mode where Red team has a one way trip to the our base, requiring a strategy of team attack and self sacrifice, not present in other modes. When Red team can’t win in Assault, why play?

Special missions so the battles were always full, No overdives filling every square meter with mines. And two defense points.  Blue could not just jam every tank around the flag and spam OD. The most effective defense was the active defense - counter-attacking red team. The whole giant map was in play. 

 

This year during my second try at AS mode I was already feeling bored.

Yeah, you’re on to something too. Blue team crowding around a single point does get old quick.

 

There’s also the issue of the battle fund. When Red slaughters Blue, there isn’t time for much fund growth. When Blue holds off Red, the fund is better for Blue yet does not reward tactical defense, just who gets kills.

 

And map selection still determines which team wins. Designers have a lot more work to do.

 

I enjoy both Red and Blue play style. I don’t enjoy having the layout of the map dictate which team I should choose.

Polygone still favors red, maybe you should give more drop boxes closer to blue base and no boxes for camping Mammoths, or even better, make some supply boxes specific for each team that the other team can't pick up.

 

Highways is very hard for red, my idea is to put 5 flags there so more players can carry the flag for more chances because the trip is long there to just assist and get killed by Magnum.

 

Maps like Silence should have 4 flags because the height disadvantage.

Not sure that would help. Only a second Blue capture point or moving the existing point out of the rear base would give Red a fighting chance in Silence. Sealing off those two ramps to the Blue base is just too easy now.
