Divide players by equipment modification, rather than rank

Hi guys, i would like to suggest the possibility to create rooms with equipment class constraints rather than by rank.

 

There is already something similar with xp / bp but with railgun only.

 

Imagine to create a room setting m1 class tank only lock.

In this room only tankers using max m1 equipment (hull, turret, protection) will be allowed to join.

 

In this way many high ranks players could play with low ranks but using lower class tanks.

I think many high rank players have got some m1 or m2 tanks in their garage.

 

Of course there will be still the possibility to make rooms by rank constraint (like now), but in this way it will be possible for high ranked players to play with many lower rank friends.

 

You know, when becoming legend, its really sad, the battle list is a bit empty.

 

Tell me what do you think about this idea.

The problem with this Idea is that when smart players realise that it's better for them to stick to theire M0 until they can effort some nice kit by saving crystals only Tanki will have less Income from the buyers that want adventage over other players.

 

don't get me wrong, it's a good idea for a much better balanced battles, but it's bad for Tanki Economy.

Rank limits need to be narrowed.

I'd rather have fewer battles to choose from and fewer tanks in each battle if it meant opponents were closer in power.

 

And for crying out loud put some divisions in the Legend "rank".

Half the time I'm battling opponents with 10-20 equivalent "ranks" above me.  Legend 1 vs legend 28?  LOL.

I had better battles at Marshall.

M2 Freeze is weak compared to M2 Fire, just like M2 Hornet is when compared to M2 Wasp, and like that many others. This would be a good idea only when they balance hulls and turrets at each modification level against other turrets and hulls of the same level.

 

Then there could be same modification battles in PRO Battles with a wider rank bracket, and it could be great.

The problem with this is gear is nowhere near balanced within any m-# category except m0_0/10mu and M3+. All other gear unlocks at different ranks. Just because two turrets or hulls are m1 that does nt mean they are of equally powerful. Smokey / Titan would be like The Hulk wearing Iron Man's suit in the m1 arena. MU those to 9 or 10 and they are Colonel-rank performers.

Yes but this is the same in other rooms too, so nothing changes.

 

Surely we cant balance whats normally not balanced.

As i told its an additional option for making rooms, lets say simply another type of room.

 

However it can be nice idea to set magnum only room (with class number) or smoky only, etc ....

But as the first 90% of your post says, this room would not be fair. It would just dilute players into smaller and smaller segments.

Consider turret m(class) only as something like xp/bp, it isnt bad.

 

 

I dont think its bad playing with standard equipement and without rank filter

 

I had this idea to make possible to play legends / high ranks with other players.

Why going high rank a player should have almost empty game list, thats too sad.

 

So many players create other accounts just for not getting bored, why dont have fun as legend? 

 

A legend / high rank can play both m4 tanks battles and of course i dont see anything wrong if they play lower level tanks battle, it could be fun.

 

Well if they dont like this, they will simply not join this type of room, nothing will change for them ;)

The only way I can see a balance happening is if the separation of turret and hull didn't exist. When upgrading, you would be upgrading the whole tank and all of its components, not just the turret, hull or modules. Then you would advance into the next group. This way, you have M1s fighting M1s, M2s fight M2s, etc. 

 

The rank system may have to change as well. As you level up in XP, the next rank and tank upgrade becomes available, but you can't own that rank until you own the tank that goes with it and visa versa. Which would make it possible to own the next upgraded tank, but can't use it until you have the XP for the next rank. Your rank would be the same rank as your tank. Since there are 30 ranks plus Legend, you would rank up according to XP, working towards the next tank upgrade, which would put you in a different category. 

 

I read something about Legend 1 fighting Legend 26. I don't know anything about Legends, so that may have to be handled differently. 

 

Let's say you have an M3 Firebird/Wasp, but want to fight in an M1 battle. You can, but your combo would be reduced to an M1 and your rank would change to the highest rank of the M1 category. Then you might want to change to an M2 battle, again, you can. Now your M3 combo has gone from M1 to M2 for that battle. Or you can go back to your own M3 category and fight at your own rank, as an M3. 

 

But, if the highest category you have reached is M2, then you cannot enter into an M3 battle until you have unlocked the M3 tank and the minimum rank required for an M3 battle.However, as an M2, you can fight in an M1 battle with your tank reduced to an M1 and your rank changed to the highest in the M1 category.

High rank players have way more experience of the game. Also way more drugs. So, they can join vs relatively new players and demolish them. Even if they are all M1, but they have more experience.

True but consider that in this way they could also be good teachers for new players. However i thought this mode option just for PRO rooms.

Good you noticed the drugs things, for non pro battles there could be this problem.

 

So only for pro battles

Yes, they have more experience, but a lot of players are nothing more than number crunchers that can count up to 6. M1 players are no different.

Indeed many players create new accounts having also a legend account, so they play m0/m1 tanks with high rank player's experience.

This is what I've wanted for so long! I just want to play against others without M1s. I don't want to fight against buyers. I want an even matchup. This can make that happen.

By W01 you have access to 6 m1 turrets & 4 m1 hulls, not to mention kits that unlock even earlier.

Plus you can also MU the m0 equipment to equivalent of m1.

 

You should be able to obtain the equipment you need to battle enemies with m1.

Well, the players listed by ranks must always remain in Tanki Online because that is the purpose of the game, to list players by rank.

 

However, creating a sub-category of rooms to list players by equipment modification such as M0, M1, M2, M3 and M4 would be very ideal for turrets, hulls and protection modules, because that would really help out in creating perfectly balanced out battles.

 

This suggestion could be very easily implemented into the matchmaking system because the sole purpose of the matchmaking system is to create 10 vs 10 battles that are perfectly balanced and always full.

 

Both ranks and equipment modification classification should be fully independent as well for regular battles, pro battles and matchmaking system battles as well.

I have some m0/m1 gear left over in my garage when I started. If this proposal is adopted I can equip it and go off to combat recruits.

 

They have 0 drugs. I have thousands. I win every single one of these "perfectly balanced" matches.

 

This idea is a griefer's wet dream. I am 99.9% confident the TO devs understand this. This idea is DOA.

Nice, however i think it should be better the forcing of equipment level, so you can use your favourite turrets / hull in these balanced rooms but temporary downgraded.

 

If you play instead in normal rooms, filtered by ranks like now, you will have your equipment with the normal level you have.

 

Of course, this forcing should work only in downgrade way and not as upgrade.

This could only ever work if supplies were automatically disabled.

 

As LW says, high-rankers have basically unlimited supplies compared to low-rankers.  It would not be an even battle.

 

And MUs might be an issue as well.

I have a bunch of m0 equipment that I could MU to 10/10 - but - not trade in for m1.

So my m0 10/10 Twins + m0 10/10 Hunter would just obliterate most of the low-rankers running around with m0 items.
