Holiday break from Daily Mission Chains

Thank you for making the point more clear, now I see the argument.

It's a fair concern.

It is in TO's self-interest to revert to the Wear Holiday Paint system. They could do this overnight. It is an established system. There is no rationale for the system they are using now.

That is what I cannot get past. TO makes so many decisions that are contrary to it's own self-interest. I may come across like a jerk quite often but my comments are intended for the good of the game. e.g my suggestion for Dual Overdrives. I can already picture the critical reaction to that rollout.

The point was replacing daily missions with something that takes 3x as long means there's a good chance people just won't bother with them.

And the Frosty contest "option" is basically a boring wasp-fire event.  Sure a bunch of people will spend a LOT of time over the next week trying to accomplish that.  And good for them.  But for many, we just don't have that much time to devote to a game.

Completing a couple simple missions/day for 1/2 hour was enough to complete the mission chain over a week.  This week - not the same.

The change from Special Paint missions to Harder Missions is a bad move, I agree, I complained about it in it's respective topic and I was ready to break my mission chains.

But now you have to think that it's hard for them to revert to the Special Paint missions, because I'm pretty sure it takes time to prepare and plan those, it's easier to do what they did even thought they wanted us playing for long hours in the first place, in other words, it's not good for them either.

Life is not perfect, things happen and it's hard to turn back the clock, this solution is acceptable for many and even welcomed by some because now they can stop worrying about their chains and enjoy the holidays. As "accidental" as this was it could also become a way to deal with chain worries in future holidays, without Hard Missions of course.

If perfection is what we want we shouldn't be playing Tanki in the first place: Magnum, Overdrives, unbalanced battles, Gold Box glitch...

Halloween was way better with only 1 Holiday mission.

1500 exp in DM. I find this boring because it's just drug wars. Holiday map = absolutely 0 fun.

I can't imagine lower ranks that get 1000 exp in DM, it must take ages for them to complete this.

They could still do something like instead of 3x hard be 2x hard. But I'm not sure.

Thank you.  I have multiple accounts, and only ever claim one per day.  So I lost two completed missions per account, and had just given up on trying to complete my mission chains  -- PLUS I was really upset about 7 hours worth of earned missions dissapearring.  So I appreciate this very much. :D

If you held on to premium rewards before special missions were added, the old completed missions become incomplete. Ex: 125/125 becomes 125/450. If you don't claim it before special missions get removed, will you lose the premium?

I must apologize for yesterday, it was long day, and a tired, bitter CM. I'll try to relate the situation better now.

The initial plan and holiday schedule were similar to Halloween and past celebrations, you had days of changing discounts, holiday paint, missions and events. Missions were chosen not to require paint intentionally, and for a simple reason, to see if players like it more to open the game, see a list of missions with a straightforward description and apply the results in future celebrations.

What followed after the release of the New Year event was, as it happens lately, unexpected. Completed missions were taken away, new rewards didn't apply to missions in progress. I'll skip the details and the curses, but due to basic time limits it was not possible to return all of the missions and update the rewards any time soon. In this situation, the dev team was faced with a simple decision - to let it blow up and wait for the flames to fade out, or to make the holidays right. The way it was chosen to be done you read in the first post of this thread - mission chains are not affected by skipping a day or a week.

We will see after the holiday break how it played out, did it actually motivate to play less or took away the stress of daily grind.

I can tell you one thing already, I play for free, and knowing that sales are coming, in the last few weeks was keeping up with the chains, to get maximum rewards by the time discounts launch. While usually missions are not that hard to do 1 a day, and you can change them once for free, but when holidays are coming, and it's freaking New Year, the workload is so intense, that by the last week I was dreading to open the game at all. Late in the night I would remember my chain will drop if I don't complete a mission, and it quite really affected my mental state and feelings about the game. It was no longer to play and have fun, it was a busy work to get maximum rewards per effort spent. And I already have one such game, it's called 12 years of World of Warcraft.

So the above is my personal opinion and is NOT an official position of Tanki or Alternativa, but I hope it helps understand why :)

This weekend I will be visiting Forum less often, so any urgent questions please send to our brave mod team.

Happy Holidays and have an awesome weekend! o/

BUT...

Are X3 rewards still ending on Jan 1???

Updated maps and X3 Mission chain rewards

"At first, we made this increase for summer only, and then extended the event until the end of autumn, and are now happy to share that X3 rewards will remain in the game until the end of the year! What will happen to them after the end of the year we will share later."

I was not clear. Let me ask again. I had read the other thread.

Assuming X3 mission chains end on 1/1, which is as long as we can expect to have them based on the other thread, isn’t it misleading to tell people to stop doing missions?

Or hadn’t anyone thought about that?

I know it is now optional to do missions, but 3 times hard is too much for most I think, changing it to 2 times hard would be good. Think about it for after the Frosty Weekend.

Tankers!

Earlier today, December 22nd, after server restart holiday missions were launched not according to plan. Some tankers lost mission rewards they didn’t claim yet, and some got their missions replaced with harder missions, but the rewards stayed the same.

We apologize for the inconvenience and the distress this caused you.

After about the 40th time that the devs screw up something that even a TINY bit of testing would have revealed, some might doubt your sincerity.  In recent weeks, there was first the gold box mass drop where Tanki advertised we wouldn't believe how many golds would drop - containers started to pour out of the sky and people got all kinds of cools stuff - then Tanki took it all back.  Then there was the "special site" that was supposed to count kills - that was poor design to begin with  I mean, come ON!  It didn't report kills under 400.  It didn't update any faster than once per hour.  And in the final analysis, it DIDN'T WORK!

Now we've got another bug that wiped out mission results and the response is "So sorry.  You're hosed.  But we're really sorry"?

Is it really too much to ask Tanki to at least consider TESTING software before putting it on line?  Please, tell us all what changes you've made to your testing regimen to ensure that fewer bugs will make it on line.   Really.  I'm sure we'd all like to know how sincere Tanki is for dumping so many bugs on us.

Oh, and in case no one's mentioned it yet - the servers are dead.  Might want to check that.
