Force players to read the Section Rules for the particular section when creating a new topic

Recommended Posts

I am suggesting an idea for the forum, to force players to read the Section Rules before creating a new topic. It'll stop topics like this, this, and this from being created and wasting the time of moderators. The idea works like this:

1 You click the mcQxqmM.png button.

2 You are automatically redirected to the section rules for the section in which you are posting the new topic.

3 You have to read them, then click an "Accept" button at the bottom of the page.

4 Now, you can create your topic.

Declined

A very good intention, indeed.

Unfortunately this will not help, as it does not assure that the member truly read + understood the rules.

We could make a quiz, and ask questions on certain topics from the section rules.. but this would overshoot a bit.

So declined for the moment, until the idea becomes more usable.

Actually, I suggested this a while ago and I think it's a really good idea. Like, first time (or first 2-3 times) someone clicks to post a topic in any section, they get a pop-up with that section's rules which they have to scroll through and agree with. Sure, it wouldn't guarantee that they actually read the rules, but it would at least make them aware that the rules exist and bring their attention to them.

But I don't think it's possible on this forum.

C'mon

Rules in like 2 pages won't attract anyone to read.

It's not so easy to craft rules short an simple - and still have them covering all important issues.

Maybe we could craft an rules-excerpt infront of the large version.
