Hey!

I returned to the game after 3-4 years, I see many changes.

The game is more money-based (premium, purchasable kits), servers merged into one battle list, new weapons, etc.

I don't criticize any of that (at least not in this topic :ph34r:).

 

What bothers me the most is the fact players seem to keep playing the same maps all the time. I am talking about pro-battles, I personally hate normal battle with all the drugging (even though I have enough supplies).

I don't actually know what the situation with maps is at higher ranks, but here, where I am stuck, it's terrible.

 

DM/TDM

There's like no chance of playing a DM/TDM in pro-battle. The maps created are always only in parkour format, no real battles there.

 

CTF

Map pool: Hill, Island, Noise, Sandbox

The maps are fine (I do hate Noise though), but playing them all the time is nothing but boring.

 

CP

Map pool: Arena, Polygon

 

From years ago I remember playing maps like Red Alert, Barda, Monte Carlo, Edinburgh, Dusseldorf, Esplanade, Silence (WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS MAP IT WAS A LEGEND C'MON!) and many more daily...

 

I am actually sad.

 

So tell me, what do you think about the maps which are played in pro-battles? Do you really enjoy playing the same maps all the time? I mean it's us, players, who create the maps.

Does it change at higher ranks? Will I get to play anything else than the 5-6 maps which I find every day in the battle list?

There are like... *counting*... many maps to be played, but no one is interested in joining them :( There's always like one.. maybe two people who come in the map (e.g. when I created pro-battle Edinburgh), but leave after a while because no one else is joining.

 

I probably should have an idea how to force players to play various maps... hmm... I don't really :(

I remember when there were to be some maps removed from the game, the funds were doubled to increase the amount of players willing to play the maps. Maybe that could help (yeah too good to be real).. anything.

 

Any ideas guys? What do you think?

 

 

Note: I was talking only about maps played in pro-battle. I like the fact there are created different maps in normal battle list, it makes maps like Alexandrovsk more alive. I do not like we are not able to create maps in non-pro-battle mode though.

that is because nowadays, player needs to save more crystal for not just turret and hulls like old days.

 

now, we need to buy microupgrades, alternation, more expensive modules to counter more new turret. so those maps generating more crystals than rest are played more often.

 

like old days, when there is only m1, m2, m3, and simple paint. crystal saving is not that important than now. and players can causally play without worrying more on their savings.

 

as those larger map create lower crystal to time ratio. small maps get you crystal faster as tanks destroyed faster and fund grow faster

that makes sense, yet there are many small maps which I haven't seen being played (Boombox, Combe, Duality, Farm, Magadan, Ping-pong, Rift, Sandal, Zone) - all these are smaller then Noise which is played daily even now. Noise is imo the dumbest map ever to be played.

 

and if that's the case, the fund and crystals, I'd love to see an increase there (current +15% more), in the big maps

arena has no building to slow down kills, and 4vs4 map

 

Boombox has a building in the center, you can;t start killing right after respawn.

Combe has no flat surface, slow down driving as well

Duality is 2vs2, too few people, small fund

Farm has buildings, people hiding slow down fund grow

Magadan, has building and slow down action

Ping-pong is 3vs3

Rift is big in comparison,

Sandal, too much building blocks shots

Zone, too much building as well.

 

Noise is good for growing fund only if both team keep attacking, as the chocking point is just in the one point, and faster kill action means more fund. and it is only often good for funds with multing and one team overpower than the other team.

 

yes, big map like lost temple should have 15% more fund growth to gain back popularity, as it almost takes 1 min most time to just get to enemy base.

Main reason is PRO battles don't count towards your missions anymore, so the only reason to play them is for specific maps that the majority prefers, XP/BP etc.

 

Even one of my favorite maps; Monte Carlo has completely disappeared. Things change I guess.

Player-created battles always had a very limited range of maps. The same maps are played over and over again, with maps occasionally dying out and new ones becoming "trendy". Back when I started playing in 2011 I always hated the fact that players don't like to explore new maps and try new gameplay. I loved maps like Gubakha, Magistral, Gravity, Abyss (now Skyscrapers), etc., but whenever I create a battle on them I never got more than 2-3 players joining. The servers were filled with just a handful of maps: Sandbox, Highland, Silence, Polygon and Madness.

 

That's why I'm genuinely happy about the new battle creation system. And no, I'm not just saying this because "I'm admin and I get paid to praise tanki" (which isn't true btw). Because of this system we now get an even distribution of a much wider range of maps (around 20 or 30), providing a much better variety of gameplay styles.

 

But PRO battles will always have just 4-5 popular maps being played. I'm not sure if it's because the fund grows better there or because the players genuinely love the maps so much, but it is what it is.

Normal players played on all maps.

Buyers/players who grind crystals play in Arena, Polygon, etc.

 

Now that you need to buy a PRO pass to make any of the good old maps, normal players would rather not spend 5k or whatever so you see only a few unique maps.

Means they did before.

Well I can understand why they don't now, players would probably abuse the system.

Still it could have been dealt with in other way. Imagine pro-battle maps created by server. I guess it would be denied by admins but yeah.

The only problem I see there is the battle options. It would have to be settled. I'd like to see non-supplies, non-overdrives battles. I don't care much for the other map settings. Missions would count in all server-created battles.

inb4 I can imagine chances of this being accepted are like none as many would see it complicated and weird because of the map settings -_-

Guess I will have to come up with something clever to have a chance of playing my favorite maps again.
 
Btw, as nobody has stated anything about the situation in the highest ranks, I assume the situation is the same as here :(

You might be interested to learn there there were (probably still are) plans to adjust the rate at which battle fund grows on different maps, so playing on say, Scope will be comparable to playing on Arena in terms of crystal reward.

Interesting. Can I find anything about it on forums?

 

Hopefully its in the form of an increase rather than a decrease. 

Or both. Increase funds on bigger maps, decrease funds on smaller maps. The differences wouldn't be so drastic.

Egh, full of Railgun ego's nowadays. 80% of the PRO battles are XP/BP. What happened to Subway and Magistral? Not quite the average TDM but they're both great for CTF. Pass and Rift are perfect CTF maps that could give people a nice fund, they were popular years ago.. I don't get it. Station helds nice gameplay for DM and TDM, another map with plenty of potential.

 

Opposition was another great medium sized map but even if it would be popular, there will be blowout matches because of Magnum and overdrives. The same counts for Valley.

That was one of my favorite ones aswell... they were so common back in the day; I don't get why this had to happen.

Missions were the worst that happened to PRO battles and their map variety.

What I would do is to gather friends and play with them on rare maps, I did it a few times and it was great.

The only problem I see there is the battle options. 

What would be the point? Players won't be able to make private battles or choose any of the options.

They would be able to make pro-battles, but there'd be also pro-battles created by server. The missions would count in all server-created maps.

Yo man, pro battles actually suck at low tanks. At high tanks there is the usual high selection it battles, don't worry :)

Glad to hear that, hopefully I'll make it fast there
