Let's Discuss "Rugby mode"

I played Rugby on Aleksandrovsk and I was totally unable to get any kills because drugging Titans were coming through the bridge all the time and killed me with full supplies. Special combo for Rugby? Titan with Vulcan, I think.

Interesting - first impressions (having been swarmed twice) - I haven't seen the strategy of CTF and wonder if it is doomed to just become a melee like TDM.

Couple of points - as has been pointed out the ball is difficult to see, unlike a flag.

When a team scores (or are 2 goals ahead) perhaps the ball should be given to the other team to start? That may help balance mismatched sides, and should add a bit of strategy as teams reform after a goal.

Please - PLEASE - get rid of that awful 'Touchdown' phrase... the fact it's not a rugby term is irritating enough but it's just too repetitive. Perhaps something more along the lines of a whistle (and, also, perhaps some sound confirmation when the ball is back in play).

HTH,

Rugby is a druggers paradise at the moment but I guess the novelty of it will soon wear off and everyone will be back to CTF but playing like it's death match.

I hate to keep banging on about it but unless some of the flaws in the game are addressed it's just another version of TDM.

You mentioned the drugging thing. I used to go into non-pro battles only for my missions and usually right after the server restarted. I found that everyone was drugging out of their minds. Now I wait a bit and the first wave of druggers passes and I can then enjoy the battles more

I usually play CP so I am not really sure - u dont get points if you die carrying the ball and your team-mate takes it and scores? I mean it used to be possible in CTF mode.

Other than that rugby is really cool new feature and considering tanki past and present that is rather surprising. The victory depens on your teamwork and not your gear and I like it. Still most tankers are pretty clueless and play it as if that was TDM mode or something. But it is not a new thing, they play CP like that as well :)

What I can't figure out is why nobody uses mines in the game. Every player must have thousands of them as very few use them.

I am getting killed by mines very often. I think about buying Spider module but is it really worth it?

This gamemode is one sided. If one team gets the upper hand as far as overdrives, land gained, etc. they can just continuously steamroll the other until they win. Making the objective spawn in the middle of the map is stupid enough already, since the decisive midfield battle pretty much dictates who wins. The reason CP works is because the points don't move and they can be overtaken. Half the time my team won't even know what the objective IS, and it's not like the enemy is going to give it to them so they can learn.

It's a terrible learning environment, encourages spawncamping, and it's either a stalemate or a steamroll. Sounds like Turbine CTF found it's way into Tanki!

The only thing I don't like about this mode is that your teammates are around you only when the ball is dropping. As soon as a player gets the ball, he becomes a lone ranger. Very few people actually support you when you have the ball. Also, the pass button should be used more often as it is strategically useful in some cases.
