Setbacks for Overdrive

Overdrive charges slowly on its own, however, the better you do, the faster is fills. However, I feel there should be things to set back the overdrive. Self destructing, killing players on the enemy team if friendly fire is turned on, being destroyed and multing.

 

Self destructing should set it back by 5%

 

Killing teammates should set it back 15% (A huge value to hopefully reduce people intentionally killing teammates)

 

Being destroyed should set it back 2%

 

Multing should set it back as fast as it charges on its own, so 1% every few seconds, but an initial 5% at the start of a given time in which the player hasn't done anything.

 

Overdrive is quite the overpowered feature in its own rights, and like everything else in the game, should have its own setbacks. I think this would balance it out just fine. You're only losing 2% in most cases from dying. Mults probably won't even use it. 5% as punishment from self destructing. The friendly fire one will only apply to pro battles in which both overdrives and friendly fire are enabled.

Other than because of killing teammates, this would be useless. Such tankers either walk without until it goes to 100%, then with Overdrive until the end of battle without using it. This would also make a better atmosphere for buyers.

So basically, the team that overdrives first is the winner? Because once the first player obtains overdrive, he/she can kill everyone else, setting back all enemies' overdrive, supports teammates into getting overdrive, further blocking the enemy's overdrive, and then one team is left with all overdrive and the other team has no overdrive.

Initially seemed like a good idea but sensei makes a valid point. Once one team reaches 100% and activates together, the other team would be constantly getting spawn killed and therefore losing 2% whilst gaining nothing. Also, why would you reduce Overdrive increase for mults? If anything, that's only going to make them not benefit anyone by not even reaching the 100% charge, giving them practically no chance to even possibly activate Overdrive. Bad idea, sorry.
