I really think it's time for M5s to come out... At legend rank maybe

This idea has been officially rejected by Hazel himself during one of the older livestreams. The cost in crystals for M5 is simply outrageous.

It would also kill the game in one fell swoop. Cmon - how many of you M4 tankers really want to start all over with another MicroUograde cycle.

And Legend rank is not enough. Would have to be Legend 5, maybe 10. Heck, I’m a Legend 6 Premium buyer and I still don’t have a full M4 garage.

Agree with you. You need minimum Legend rank 30 or more to acquire full M4 garage including 50% protection modules.

It won’t take me that long, again, because I buy.

I bet someone has run the numbers on this. A lot depends on how you obtain crystals and how you spend them. The calculations get complex quickly, but with some assumptions a few illustrative use cases might tell a compelling story.

Use case 1 - a non buyer, non-Premium earns crystals through battle fund and mission/chain rewards only, and maybe gets a bonus here and there from winning a newspaper contest or other minor windfall. He MUs as soon as he can afford them and also during sales. It’s gonna take this guy a very long time to reach M4 garage

Use case 2 - Premium player earning double battle funds plus daily crystal bonus. By definition, the double funds alone mean this guy is going to make M4 in about half the time as Player 1.

Use case 3 - The Buyer. This guy in theory has unlimited crystals, but in reality will spend both real money and crystals wisely. That means lower numbered MUs will be bought at full price but higher more expensive MUs will only happen on sales. It will still take awhile to complete an M4 garage, but this player is me, and I expect to have my Garage all M4 by Legend 8.

Perspective: When tankers get more crystals than before in a shorter duration, more tankers will have m4s within months. This adds to balance out the gameplay.

Correcto Mundo. The game economy was broken. Items were too expensive compared t income. The only way to thrive was to focus on one hull, turret, and modules.  Why have so much variety if most players can never afford it?  So player started to run more than one account to play more than one combo.

Simply improving the income side means players can be a little flexible within an account. There is less need for alts.

Plus when everyone has a reasonable source of Supplies then the hated "Drugger" cannot simply dominate a game through pressing 1,2,3,4 and 5.  Everyone can press 1,2,3,4, and 5 when they need to.

Overall we are seeing better balance between deep-pocket buyer and free players.

Don't forget that if anyone still wants to use an alt, they can decide to have a different approach at it in order to get the most out of it now. Because of the highly paying weekly chain rewards (even more since now there are containers) lower ranks players who do not buy at all can benefit extremely from this. Taking an example from my own, I played slowly on a new acc and saved up enough crystals by the rank of Staff Sergeant to buy Keeper Kit. If I keep up with the slow speed and the 4th week chain, I'll probably be able to buy Predator Kit right when I hit Sergeant Major.

While I myself remain wary of random chance, I'd prefer containers' rarities to look something like this:

70.00% chance of getting a Common

25.00% chance of getting an Uncommon

03.99% ... Rare

01.00% ... Epic

00.01% ... Legendary

But that's just my numbers.

Anyways, to compensate for the reduced Weekly Rewards and to make it easy for players to get into doing Missions, make it so that container paints can only be obtained starting at Week Chain 3.

Moreover, assuming that players will get 2 or more containers starting at Week Chain 3, it'd be nice that players are guaranteed NOT to receive more than one paint from mission containers.

To illustrate, assuming that completing Week Chain 3 nets you 2 containers, 1 of those 2 containers is guaranteed to give you anything BUT paints.

Likewise, assuming that completing Week Chain 4+ nets you 3 containers, 2 of those 3 containers is guaranteed to give you anything BUT paints.

Alas, these are just my thoughts.  Do what you will with them.

What???  :o

That's just obscene

Even my alt created a couple months ago could only afford the Blizzard kit at 1st sergeant.

Last time I looked, Predator cost ~ 80,000 crystals.

It is one of the few kits that cost > than the regular price of turret + hull... because of the paint.

I am aware. However, considering containers have been added, and that that acc is currently at the rank of Master Sergeant, getting 1k-3k experience done per week, and having 15k crystals saved up on that account already, what are the chances I'll have enough crystals by then? I'm very optimistic that with the new rewards, it will be easier than ever.

p.s,

Open spoiler to see ratings of the acc

One more

I would not be surprised at all to learn that behind the scenes some sort of tiered container distribution scheme is or soon will be in play.

I ‘would’ be surprised if we are ever told about it.

Why are there no more crystal rewards for completing a mission? Since the official announcement made in this post, all of the missions I have received have supplies as a reward. Will the missions have crystals as a reward again? The amount of crystals received from participation in a battle are very small. The weekly rewards crystals aren't enough to accumulate enough crystals for micro upgrades.

Don't be so quick to assume things; crystal missions are definitely still around. Just wait a bit; you'll see ;)

They still exist:
