This is the reason why online tanki became a P2W game and the community is getting smaller and smaller.

Recommended Posts

I think that many will have realized that online tanki has fewer and fewer players. The veterans (like me, who play from 2009-2010) will know of all the changes that tanki has gone online and that most have made it fall.

Clearly the online tanki community has decreased for many reasons (which I will detail in this post) either by the poor optimization of arrival of information packets in a network, by the new weapons that have gotten, but there is one of which I will speak more than the others and it's about why Tanki Online became a P2W game (Pay To Win)

The truth that saddens me enough to know that every time the game becomes smaller (in community) and the as the P2W is remarkable.

Let's take an example: 2 players, who are Warrant Officer 1. The player "Y" will be an ordinary player, without paying. The "Z" Player will have the benefits of being premium. We will see how many crystals each earns and how much XP each one obtains in 1 month / 30 days, playing ONLY DM MATCHES, playing 9 games a day. Let's suppose that in all they win 600 crystals. Remember that the premium gives 100% more profits and 50% more XP. We will discard missions and rewards of mission chains.

Player Y obtains on the day 5 400 crystals, in the total month 162 000 crystals and of experience on the day he obtains 9 000, on the month 270 000. If we add 270 000 plus the 57 000 of xp of warrant officer 1 "initial "gives us the result of 327,000, that is, the user would already be in First Lieutenant. 162,000 crystals plus 40 600 of the crystal bonuses when going up in rank gives us a total of 202 600 crystals in a month. Enough to buy a m2 kit. Assuming that the player in all these games has won 600 crystals.

Player Z obtains 10 800 crystals in the day, in the month 324 000 (already exceeded the total of the player "Y" in a full month plus his range bonuses) and experience in the day gets 13 500, in the month 405 000, that is, the user would already be in Lieutenant Colonel. If we add 405 000 plus the 57 000 XP of warrant officer 1 "initial" gives us the result of 462 000. 324 000 crystals plus 76 600 of the range bonus gives us a total of 400 600 crystals. 400 600 crystals ... Sounds funny, does not it? plus the daily bonus given to the premiums (2 500 crystals) which would therefore be 400 600 plus 75 000 gives us the total of 475 600 crystals ... enough to buy 2 kits of m2 ... 2 kits. .. okay. And I'm still left over ... (assuming the kits cost under 210 000).  Wow...

  • Conclusions:
  • a.- Paying to be premium for 1 month gives you a lot of benefits
  • b.-being premium for 1 month gives you the benefit of buying not only 1 but 2 kits m2

So? Pay to win

And now we go with the KITS.

Pay for a kit (rather, for a few) gives you many benefits, such as excessive increase your K / D or your Winrate. It also gives you the possibility to continue "micro-updating" your turret / helmet / module. To the point of being a "Pseudo-m2 turret".

In fact, I still remember that I saw a player of rank Warrant Officer 2 with titan m1 10/10 MU and Thunder M1 9/10 MU. That is ... let's see. In that range you can not even buy Thunder M1 sticks for your rank ... but for buying a kit and crystals and reached a Thunder M2? IS THIS SERIOUS ?!

And I'll give you another example. Mine. I was Sergeant Major when I bought the Corsair kit. Believe me that before with my titan m1 2/10 MU and my Smoky 4/10 MU I was doing well. But when I bought this kit, it was much better for me. So now I have Twins m1 10/10 MU ... Buying glasses unfortunately I reached that.

And we go with the last thing because I'm sleepy xd. The crystals.

Short answer: Buying crystals really gives you access to everything. Before, this was not the case ... in 2009 it was never like that ... and I never thought that all this would end like this.

Anyway, I know that maybe they will fill me with dislikes, but having so many people playing before, now they have a maximum of 45,000 online at 13 UTC ... the time where there are more players ... I believe.

Never, they never had to put the kits.

  Greetings.

things started changing way back in Oct 15 2015 when they announced that they were thinking of joining tanki and tanki X . this still could be happening . we as players wont know . as long as money and players stay then this part of the game will continue according to what Cedric said to us when he was here.

If you play a F2P game you should expect some P2W elements. There is no other way you can expect developers to financially support the game otherwise.

In most F2P games you either have to spend hours grinding with the same items or start buying.

It has always been the case that buying crystals unlocked everything to you.

Just a small difference with kits, which allow you to get stuff 2 ranks early.

Siempre se podía comprar todo si comprabas crystals, es el punto de "pay to win"

This has nothing to do with topic, just listing how many holidays and ways to make money tanki has.

Jan-New Year

Feb-Valentine’s Day

March-Women’s Day

April- April Fool’s Day

May- May Holidays

June- Start of Summer

July- Tank in the City

August- End of Summer

Sept- Tankers’ Day

Oct- Halloween

Nov- Black Friday

Dec- New Year’s

Don’t forget all the bundles, too. *Gets Calculator* I remember one of AppleMovies’s video about how much Tanki makes from one bundle. The Moscow was 170 000 USD. That times 12 since there’s a holiday each month would be 2 040 000. That’s the minimum since don’t forget the big buyers like DJade and Attuallah. There’s also about 8 animated bundles(prediction). Each bundle is $60 and only 70 people buy them. That would be $4200 for each animated holiday bundle. That multiplied by 8 is 33 600. So from all the holidays, they make a minimum of 2 073 600. Of course, there are other things bought but that would be too hard to calculate. :). Tanks makes a lot of money! I only calculated the minimum. I know they need to eat and drink and have a job.

Of course, purchasing crystals gives you an advantage. I get your point, but I feel that you're missing the whole point of this game. It isn't so you can keep grinding on and on in the game. This game though made to give the developers a way to support their life, is made so that you can have good memories, and remember Tanki fondly.

The community isn't really growing smaller either. I saw over a 100 people online just the other day.

I agree to the part of seeing M2s of the items for which you can't even buy M1s of the same.

Even if they change it so you can't MU items if you haven't even reached the rank where you can buy it separately, it's even worse for the non-buyers and new players.

Im still a new player so take this possibly with a grain of salt. How many hours do most people play TO? Probably most are in the hundreds with any in the thousands. If you were to buy a game for say PS4, you'd pay $60 and get maybe 50 hours of gameplay. You can easily play TO for 50 hours for free and not miss out at all...heck you can play for maybe 100 hours. If, say you spent $20, one third of the price of a normal game, you could spring forward with days of bonuses. To ask for hours of fun for free is a lot and compared to other games, TO is super cheap...even moreso if you count the amount of time spent

2009-2010 I played 4-5 hours every evening and sometimes more on Sunday. That's about 28 to 35+ hours a week. This was my "go to" game. Since 2015 (or there about) my playing got less and less. Now I play 8-10 hours a week. It's no longer my "go to" game.

Why? Because Tanki used to be F2P with the option to buy. Now it's P2W with the option  not  to buy and it's become harder to compete. Prices have increased.

Tanki has become more stressful than fun, unless you have an unlimited credit card and do not mind paying the credit card fees every time you use it. Some players do not have that luxury (and it  is  a luxury). So, the grinding goes on and on. I have enough stressors in my life, I do not need a game to add to them.

I can not afford to help someone make a car payment, I'm paying for my own car. I can not afford to help make someone's mortgage payment, I have my own mortgage to worry about. Plus medical expenses, house insurance, car insurance and life insurance and all other expenses one needs to survive. Sure, every time I make a purchase in a store, I'm helping someone make their payments of life. But those are purchases out of necessity. Tanki is not a necessity of life .... I can live very well without Tanki, thank you very much.

I understand this is a small game coming out of a small office with only a handful of employees. Seems to me that someone is getting rich quick. OR Tanki is supporting something else outside the gaming industry and we are paying for it (whatever  IT  is). Someone mentioned that Tanki is supporting Tanki X and that's where the money from Tanki is going.

Edited for typing errors.

This isn't the best analogy. AAA games are of much higher quality that Tanki Online. Of course TO is cheap, it's free to play.

Fair, but I'd say that it gives any more hours of enjoyment than most of, you said AAA, games. I do understand the concern though, dont get me wrong

There are a lot of assumptions here, and of all the things you decide to pick on you pick Kits... They really aren't that bad anymore, back in 2014 they used to be way more OP. Like items used to unlock anywhere between 6 - 10 ranks earlier than the normal counter parts, now its only 3 - 4 in most cases.

The community is growing, slowing but still it's growing. Not too long ago there used to only be around 30k players on daily, now it has risen to just over 40k.

Im a F2W player and I could have afforded not 1, not 2, or 3 but FOUR M2 kits. I mean, if only people knew HOW to generate a lot of crystals, they wouldn't see it as P2W. No, I dont just do missions and log off. I do plenty of pro battles. Also, there are contests you can take part in, in the forum and win crystals like that. Show a lot of contribution to the community you might get a prize at the end of the year. I was an honorable mention and I was awarded 100,000 crystals and 3 containers.

Basically, the game only counts up crystals earned in battle to show on your profile. You need to have as many other ways to earn crystals as possible to make the most profit. Forum contests, contributing, being a no lifer during x2 battle fund holidays and buying things only on half off sales. It's really not that hard, just takes a LOT of patience. Also, I skipped M1 equipment and went right to M2 equipment at WO5 to save about 50,000 crystals on the hull and turret. Doesn't seem like much, but that's a lot at those ranks.

Be a no lifer while you have beginner's pass. Make your account right before a holiday where there will be increased battle funds which double for each battle with the pass mentioned. Dont buy too much equipment. Noobs are easy to kill at those ranks.

Try to join winning battles and contribute as much as you can. Isida helps out a lot. Try using it in small map ctf games in pro battles. I did Noise ctf games with 20 - 50 cap limits with no timer. Huge rewards, which again are doubled by beginner's pass. For non-pro battles, try to join battles with the highest ranked players possible. The higher the rank, the faster funds go up because more is added the higher ranked a player is. I think it's like 2 for Recruits and it's 9.9 for Legends. It's 10 exp per kill, which means you get a near 1:1 ratio. Then there's people who come and go. This gives you more rewards.

Say there's a 10,000 fund in a game and everyone leaves but you manage to get maybe just 1 point and you just happened to be on the winning team. Well, if there's no enemies, you get ALL of them.

Have an alt account to buy lots of equipment on to see what you like best, then on your main account, buy that combo, which saves you THOUSANDS of crystals. When sales come, do not overspend. I do suggest upgrading an M2 hull when you get one, to be 10/10. I did this with my Hornet, which cost me roughly 225k, but it gave me an M3 hull several ranks earlier, which made playing easier.

With the research I've done, I've found this strategy to be most profitable and I have made, again, as a free player, over 1 MILLION crystals. about 350k from battles, which means the other 650k come from everything here. The saving, the smart spending, the extra earning, Mostly from October to May, there's a holiday each month, so more gold drops, increased battle funds, etc.

Another thing, if you can play regularly, on average, people get to generalissimo in one year, so make your account, preferably, around Halloween celebrations. You get several months to farm as much as you can from holidays and by the time your year passes, you'll be hitting them again to get M3s easy.

See? I've gone as far as to WHEN a player should make their account, depending on how much they can play. You have from Halloween to May Day celebrations to catch some good sales for M3s. That's a HUGE window incase you don't play for a while.

1,000,000 crystals sound good? Try this! :D

Edit: I've spent roughly 541,925 crystals on this account and I currently have barely over 600,000 saved up as of now. This means I've earned at least 1,142,500 crystals over my Tanki career on @Sliced.

Totally agree.

Almost every game in the world has a items in which you can buy off the game to make your character/tank etc stronger and better. You either spend more time playing the game otherwise just use your money to pay for it. 99.9% of people say that this game is a pay to win game because they are not allowed to spend money on a game because of their parents. I wasn't allowed to spend money on the game but after hard work at school, my parents bought me crystals and so on. It's easy, quit the game if you think it's a pay to win game. Otherwise just play and have fun.

Proposing MU limits for certain ranks can surely decrease the problem of "10/10 Titan M1 at WO2".

Also, having one or two M2 kits doesn't really matter, because you can only use one combo at any given moment anyway. The fact you already have one means you can compete with just about every kit buyer out there.

But how to compete with buyers as a free player then? Simple.

Master and stick with a single combo and MU it steadily. On regular months, save up your supplies and crystals, and complete weekly chains to get more. Only burn some supplies when you get premium from containers. Wait until some special sale or double fund event comes and that's where you go on a spending spree. Rise and repeat.

I've followed that strategy for 2 years now. Right now I have:

1. Striker M4, Shaft M4, Hammer M4 and Hunter M4, as well as Isida, Titan, and Hornet M3.

2. 4 M3 Triple Modules.

3. About 2-4k of each supply (except first aid kits, which I never seem to have more than 150 of)

4. The ability to compete with the heaviest druggers out there.

You'd be surprised what you can achieve in this game without spending a single cent!
