Prevent Overdrives from being lost after death (pre-update)

I have been victim to this way too many times...

 

Maybe implement a system that the Overdrive will not be lost until after 1 second after activation...or something like that...

I would always wait until the right moment to get the best out of my overdrive, but lose it because it activates after my death... 

 

It's really simple, just make it so that we don't lose our overdrives due to input lag...or maybe activate all supplies BEFORE we lose the overdrive... I mean, if you think about it, losing your overdrive without being able to use it does suck...

We had this idea before. I checked it with devs and they rejected. Yes, it sucks to use overdrive and instantly get one-shot by a Shaft or Magnum, but that's just part of the game. It's not the end of the world and you can still win the game. Just make sure to use Overdrive at the best possible time when there is little chance of someone killing you before you can use the overdrive's full potential.   :)

 

By the way, this won't be a problem with most other overdrives. For example, the bomb, shield and anti-supply can still benefit you and your team even if you get killed after activating it. Invincibility overdrive will make you invincible, so you literally can't waste it. As for the faster reload, supplies and protection ignore - that's gonna have to be timed well to make the most of it.

you should accept this idea

you don't die after you activate the overdrive , the overdrive activates AFTER you die . as simple as that

if you activate it exactly when the last hp is gone , you literally lose it , you hear the sound but don't get anything . cuz you're dead.

I mean, what you saying here RARELY happens. More of a rare coincidence.

 

I don't agree , this happens to me every day basically because I have some ping and I wait too much before I activate it so I die and it goes to waste

Why would you do that? I just use it when I have teammates next to me and my supplies are wearing off (or are about to). The heal is a bonus, but I don't focus my use of overdrive around that. Using it in the middle of a fight when you're about to die will be a waste 90% of the time, since you will just get 1000 health back and will lose it again in a matter of seconds.

You said it yourself - the problem is that you wait too long. It's you who should be changing your strategy, not devs who should be changing the game :P

I always use it with teammates , but sometimes teammates don't want to share it with anyone and this pisses me off , so when that happens I run away with it and use it on myself only

You said it yourself - the problem is that you wait too long. It's you who should be changing your strategy, not devs who should be changing the game :P

Well until the new overdrives get added, I guess I'm gonna have to lose them...

I agree...I don't want it to be left though...until the new overdrives get added, at least activate the supplies before it's used instead of after...even if it's a 1-frame difference, make it so that all supplies are used before it's lost...it's as simple as that...

 

Also what would it take to prevent it? 5 lines of code? I'm not trying to be rude, but fixing the problem shouldn't be as hard as Valve fixing TF2's matchmaking, if you get what I'm saying...

Then you should use it on them to show them a good example of co-operation ;)

This isn't early 2017, when the repair kit made you invincible for 2 seconds. If you use overdrive in the last moment when you are about to die, then you're not using it effectively. See my second post in this topic, where I explained when it's best to use the overdrive.

I think this could be a good idea and we should also include all supply usage to this.

 

Meaning no one would lose their active supplies be it from ODs, use or drops, when they die. They'd still have their supplies when they respawn.

 

This idea would help a lot the team that is getting spawn killed because they'll be respawning with their supplies on right there. But if someone from the spawn killing team dies, they'll still have the supplies on, but they will be on the other side of the map.
