We are up to 558 openings. That's well over 100 since the new paints were added to the mix! And no ... mo one has reported one yet. . . .

 

When we get to 600 I will post Report 5 and fill in more on the FAQ page. 

 

The number of contributors seems to be increasing a little. That's great to see. Please keep posting every week no matter if you get "good" or "bad" rewards. :)

So, will you go through some YT videos of container openings?

I do not plan on doing so no. I do not want to load data from a video when that same data might have been posted to the project thread already. I also so not want to mix old openings before Christmas with these data.  Watching a video takes time. Cross-checking the data on data and contributor adds even more time. 

 

We are averaging about 200 data points / week and that rate seems to be holding steady or even going up.

 

However if I do happen across opening in on a different thread I do gather it after making sure it was not pasted already.

I've opened 18 containers so far (across 2 accounts) got one paint, 10 golds once and the rest were supplies and crystals. I got crystal rewards every week, on both accounts. Can't really complain, on the contrary.

 

I've noticed that some players got the same paints in the same week, for example, I met 5 other players who won Disco from containers, I won that paint in the same week and they did. Two other players won Carbon in the same week too. You got Zombie twice, right? Do you think the system has a defined list of which paints will be rewarded at a certain period, or did I just witness a coincidence?

Thanks these are great questions. These touch on ideas I have been meaning to put on the FAQ page. So this will hopefully get me moving a little.

 

A true random process can and does have short bursts of the same result repeated rather close together. It is sort of natural to think a true random process has all the different outcomes sort of spread out evenly. But that's not the case. So what you mention here could just be some of the random repeats. You just remember them better than the mundane outsomes.

 

OTOH

 

Somewhere in the musty basement of semi-memories I recall claims that computer software randomization equations tend to produce these burst outcomes just because of the math behind them. I know in my gaming over the years I have seen this happen. Or have I? Again memories are imperfect. No one does strict statistical recording of all these things so we are left with memories. :)

 

Bottom line to answer your question we would have to have a lot more data to come close to answering that question. But I will say it is entirely possiible there is something with the randomization s/w that might create these bursts, 

 

The 2nd thing you bring up alludes to what we do not know about the s/w. I have some basic assumptions that I think are likely right.

 

A random outcome is created when a Container is opened.

There is a set % chance for each of the 17 reward types we use, 

If one of the 3 Paint types is selected, a 2nd random choice is made. A random Paint is picked among all the available types.

 

These general ideas I assume are true. But there is a lot TO can do that we do not know.

 

They can change the percentages for the various reward types from time to time.

 

For all the Paints in one groups (ex: Rare/Garage) maybe the odds to get each one are the same as every other one.

Or maybe the price affects the odds of getting each one,

Or maybe as you said only some Paints are in the selection poll on a given week. Maybe they rotate like Kits sort of.

 

These are questions we are not really able to answer. But it is good meat for discussion and consideration. :)

I made as little as 500 experience today doing missions. One earned me about 1500 crystals, the second 760. I still need to do my third one for a bit more than 1100. My chain reward was 6100 and upon opening my 3 containers, I got two of the 3500 crystal packs, making for 7000 more. After doing my last mission I will not even have made 1000 experience and have made 16500 crystals roughly off of missions and chain rewards. The step down from 3x rewards to 2x was a good call or I'd have made more than 20k, which would ruin the economy since players would make enough crystals, buying them would be irrelevant, thus Tanki loses revenue.

 

16,500 crystals for about 1,000 experience is really good.

 

Pro tip: If you're on the last day of your chain and about to rank up, first rank up, THEN claim mission rewards. You'll then get more rewards from your weekly chain because you'd have ranked up.

Why would the same data be posted here? Did some people already submit results from container videos?

Your data assumes that everyone will get the same luck and the rewards will be distributed as your percentages show which is far from true, the graph that compares rewards before the containers update and after is misleading, some unlucky players may suffer greatly and never get good rewards. I would say for ranks Brigadier and above the situation is much worse, the "2018 net value" line should actually be below the 2017 rewards due to the factor stated above. This should be added as a sidenote in your results section.

 

Btw, amazing work and effort on this project, the data collection and results is done in a very clean and organized manner and really helps us out to dispel myths about the container rewards percentages. I myself have realised that the situation is not that bad as I had presumed it to be. The higher ranks are getting lower worth of rewards but over time they may even out or become even greater than what they used to be for some people. I would still consider it to be a meh update because the variance and unpredictability of the containers eventually only does bad to the players but maybe more data over the time will change my mindset.

I have no idea if the same people posting here make YT videos. I have a controlled data source that I trust. That is how I want to do things. I have your data from the other thread and I will make use of it. Thank you for doing that work. The time will not be wasted. I think you will agree after you see the next report. (Probably tomorrow.)

These questions also raise important info needed in the FAQ.  My bad.

 

I do not assume everyone will get the same luck/results. The graphs all display projections for AVERAGE results all based on the actual results reported.

 

As tim passes of course some people will get fewer Crystals than projected. But they will get more Supplies instead. Even if you do not like Paints and get more than the average, that will not impact your Crystal/Supply income a tremendous amount, With 156 possible Containers in a year most accounts' specific results will be similar to one another.

 

These are not an apples to oranges graphs as you fear.. The graphs all applied the same math to both 2017 and 2018. The 2017 math is cut and dry. The exact rewards per week is fixed. For 2018 the graphs are based on these projections. The same math is used to value 2017 apples and  2018 apples.

 

This I have looked at several levels of Crystal value for supplies. Even at full Garage price the same trends remain. All players get more cash and more RKs. The only question is, do Legends get enough extra Crystals to compensate for their reduced Supplies? Even at full price the answer is Legends break even, give or take 0-2 percent..

 

But Legends can also drop Container GBs to themselves. They can use their extra PA time to earn more Cry. The graphs you see assume very minimal Crystal income from these sources. Any Legend that wants to can wring more Crystals out of this new system than I assume in the reports. Fer shur.

 

So overall even Legends can safely be said to break even under the new system. That is actually a conservative claim. (Plus you get Paints FWIW.)

 

Once again, this is just what the data calculate out today as of 625 data points. Each new report will show different projections. They should not vary wildly though.

you might want to go to tanki x and figure out on what the % is on receiving items

 

also I found if you buy the lower cheap paints . then you will get a higher chance of receiving either more drugs / golds / rare paints or other items ..so far on most of my accounts it is working i seldom see cheap paints and been getting more shop paints or others.

This isn't possible. Player-dropped gold boxes will always have the standard 1000 crystal value, it'll never be a black box.

He means that they can drop the gold boxes from the containers for themselves.

also I found if you buy the lower cheap paints . then you will get a higher chance of receiving either more drugs / golds / rare paints or other items ..so far on most of my accounts it is working i seldom see cheap paints and been getting more shop paints or others.

That is probably perception. It takes thousands of reps to be able to discern that small a change.

 

But I have noticed no oine has reported a super-inexpensive Garage Paint line Fauna. If we get enough data I can do a rough study on Paint percentages es w/in a category.

 

I have seen a couple of the new animated container-only paints but no one has reported one.

 

Do you know that the most expensive hence exclusive Paints are not the animated ones or the Shop Paints but the high-priced Garage Paints. You can buy a shop paint for 20 or 40 dollars. But to buy enough Crystals to get Africa, for example, you would have to buy over 100 dollars worth of Crystals. Just something to think about.. briefly. :)

It might just be me, but Ive found opening on Saturday will give u mostly cry. opening on Sunday gives u mostly drugs. dont have any other days yet. Both me and my clan mate got 25k and i got 25k every time even tho its rare.i feel like different days will give diffrerent rewards.

I have got last week:

3.5k

10 golds XD

and 125 mines -_-

that was the only  the second week i got drugs. im eather lucky or Saturday wont give u drugs.

Nope. Just luck (depending on what your aim is). I collect my rewards from weekly chain and containers on my alt on saturdays as well, and I've had all kinds of rewards since the weekly chain update, 10k cry, Graffiti paint, 5 gold boxes, 3 days of premium, 250 of all supplies. Individual days shouldn't affect probabilities of getting a certain reward.

I will have the next report up soon. I had to take a step back to organize my spreadsheet / report template better. And I gave it a bit more capability. That of course means error-checking to make sure the thing still works right. :)

Announcement:  Now that we are a month into this project the contributors and the data hound all have learned the ropes. I think it will be easier for everyone now to just one one forum thread. So I will keep this thread open as it is already formatted to display reports. In a week or so I (with support form the Helper crew) will shot down the data-reporting thread. today on this account I  got two missions with  - 5 gold boxs and a 125 mines , which I still can't understand why this account only gets 5 golds and yet my Evil-Woman gets 10 golds per missions ( when I get them )
