True, but what happens when it gets nerfed? Thunder players will suffer even more, since I don't think the thunder protection users will change their modules as soon as the nerf happens. The modules system is kinda broken in that sense, since it makes turrets much stonger/weaker than they really are, depending on how many players protect themselves from it.

After the nerf, thunder will be balanced not overpowered. Other turrets like smoky and Railgun have a chance in duels. Anyways, it up to me what modules I want to equip. If I know that noob weapon(thunder) is irritating, I will protect myself from it. Who are you to stop me?

"It's balanced because modules" is NOT a valid argument, because those people are PAYING for the modules. They PAID to stand a fair chance against whatever weapon. That is NOT proof of balance.

Anyways I think the module system is broken anyways. It adds yet another rock-paper-scissors aspect to the game, on top of the existing rock-paper-scissors of turrets countering each other. And it's also a system where everyone chooses rock  :P

The damage of Thunder definitely needs a nerf.  In the lower ranks where there is little protection, Thunder is by far the most devastating turret.  I wouldn't go overboard like Tanki tends to do.  Thunder should not be gutted, but it does need an adjustment.

GorgoBlesk suggested 10% reduction in damage and that seems fair.

Like everyone has been saying, protections are high in the high ranks making it not as effective as in the low ranks.

Everyone uses Thunder and Magnum modules because these turrets are OP. If Thunder and Magnum damage were nerfed by 10%, they would not be OP anymore and players would not be forced to use modules against them.

Well said.  I use Thunder on an alt account and almost everyone uses a Thunder module.

On this account, even with my Thunder module activated, there is no turret that kills me more.  Personally I would like to see Tanki just leave everything alone and stop nerffing and buffing things, but I think they do it periodically to sell more turrets, modules, alterations, and lots of micro-upgrades.  But if something has to be the sacrificial nerf, it should be Thunder and a 10% nerf would ruin the turrets play-ability.

I am no longer using thunder , I switched to smoky which provides SO MUCH LESS protection modules and more stability in use , But I would like to return to thunder once I reach Marshal and get it to M4 .

in low ranks , nothing is stronger than thunder , but from lieutenant general above , protections are really common and thunder is almost unusable .

it needs more balance , surely nerf it in low ranks but don't touch it near higher ranks .

You just don't get it, do you?

Not everyone uses protection modules because the turrets are strong. There are many different reasons why someone would use a protection module against a turret.

People don't like to be one shotted by the following turrets: railgun, shaft, magnum, hammer. Thunder can sometimes one hit KO a light hull of a lower modification if it has Double damage on. If no one has any form of protections against it, striker on DD can take out a heavy hull of the same modification with one salvo, and can one hit KO lower modified light hulls sometimes, just like thunder. Smoky with Crits and double damage against an unprotected lower modified light hull in the m1 ranks.

People want to protect themselves from their own self damage inflicted by splash.

Vulcan users would equip a fire modules to reduce the overheating effect.

People want to reduce a turrets special ability, like reducing the freezing effect of freeze or the burning effect of firebird.

The nice thing about protection modules, is it is like player-selected voting for the most OP turret. If a turret is OP, then everyone can get protection for it, so it is less OP. So less people use it. It is automatic balancing. this particularly happens to Thunder.

I think you are on to something here and at my level there are starting to be lots of Thunder modules but in the lower ranks, there is no defense against Thunder and it tends to dominate.

The lower rank the demon turrets, in order of devastation (IMHO) are Thunder, Rail, Rico, Firebird, Smoky.  Smoky used to be more vicious than Firebird but Firebird got the buff.  Magnum used to be in the tops, but there aren't as many of them as there was before the Ice Age and the super OP Freeze buff.  And of course Freeze was at the top during it's short Ice Age, but now it has been nerfed back.

While the "auto-balancing" thing is indeed a nice plus to modules, a lot of people simply use them against weapons they don't like (even if said weapon is actually balanced), and thus crippling those turrets. That's really bad.

Smoky provides more stability in use? You mean that 10% weak damage that makes it useless at long range?

Thunder can kill enemies across the map, Smoky can do it only when enemies ignore it and let it fire forever (some crits will happen xD)

shooting at long range is a rare situation , you usually don't get that 10% damage per shot in most MM maps .

I have never killed enemies from across the map with thunder , that's not how it's supposed to be used .

Didn't Thunder just get a buff recently?

I like camping, I was a Shaft player before Shaft arcade shots were nerfed. I switched to Rico in main acc and to M1 Thunder (Predator kit) on WO1 alt gorgoblesk99.

Thunder should camp while it has any long range target to fire upon. When there is no such target, Thunder should attack. Just like Rail. Rail players who switched to Thunder thanks to recent Thunder reload buff (happened at the same time as Shaft arcade shot nerf) are the most dangerous because they aim quickly with deadly accuracy.

Yes, it was a reload buff and it happened at the same time as Shaft arcade shot nerf. I was one of the Shaft players who switched to another turret (Rico on main acc, Thunder on alt).

but thunder is generally not meant to be a long ranged turret , it is mid range .

anyway , from experience i tell you that smoky offers much more stability in use and I love that , not many protections against it around and it's deadly like this .
