Thunder nerf - too OP

Idk if it is OP. I just changed from Thunder m2 10/10 to Smoky m3 0/20 and Smoky feels way more OP. Thunder is great in polygon, but it loses 1v1 against Smoky, Twins, Ricco...well if they can close in, fire, freeze, isida...It can defeat Rail, so theres that, but what else can it beat in an individual fight? When I play Fire, I always love seeing thunders. They are welcome to kill me close up as my afterburn will burn them right...after...thats why its call afterburn

I though you wanted a Thunder with Neft guns to make it OP...

I was happy when Thunder got buffed in one of the recent re-balance releases.  I have an MU'd M2 under another account.  Before the rebalance Thunder's range was limited and I still loved using it - it was still deadly.  Splash damage rocks!  But the range got buffed and the reload rate got almost as fast as Smoky.  Seriously?  

 

Too much I agree!  Still happy to use it though!

Splash damage is too strong. Same problem as with Magnum. It does almost the same damage as a direct hit. It totally destroys my Hornet Isida while healing some crazy druggers in Desert or Aleksandrovsk.

 

Solution: Nerf the splash damage of Magnum, Thunder and Striker by 50%.

if that's the case , they should nerf all turrets

if they nerf it by 50% then what's the point of having the splash in the first place ? we use it to hit hiding targets like isidas or freezes so we can actually take the flag and run away with it . But if they nerf the splash it will be useless since it will take us forever to kill a tank and they'll just respawn before we get the chance to rush towards the flag.

 

I checked your profile , you have too many M1s and no M2s , you'll obviously get rekt by thunders because you'll be facing M3 thunders at this rank while you have M1 hornet and dictator , so they will obviously annoy you the most because you'll get killed with 1 or 2 shots every time (obviously)

Thunder is a very overpowered weapon, it was like that since the last balance. Yes while it is true that its fairly balanced in numbers the turret plays a huge psychological warfare factor when facing it. It has a huge damage followed by an explosion taking up to 8% of your screen (and it looks like a big cookie) and sounds really scary. This makes it very overpowered and many people unconsciously want to run away from it. Its like a reflex, as it happens with twins.

The nice thing about protection modules, is it is like player-selected voting for the most OP turret. If a turret is OP, then everyone can get protection for it, so it is less OP. So less people use it. It is automatic balancing. this particularly happens to Thunder.

You might sound cool saying this, but i guess you dont understand the meaning of psychological warfare and high damage. Yes it would kill you because you would get panicked.

I do realize that thunder was since its release based on the psychological warfare doctrine and the cookie explosion texture (ye thats me) but it has a ridiculously high damage and this is the reason everyone spends protections against it. Do you people need more proof than that to nerf it?

But what about Striker? Striker has a far higher DPS than Thunder, and longer range.

It has a higher dps but its way harder to aim. Also the bullets of striker take time to get to the goal.

well protections need nerfing in order to be able to nerf thunder , thunder is rendered useless while facing a protection above 35% , so if you nerf it even more it'll be the weakest gun in the game,

though I've seen the number of protections against thunder decrease dramatically after the last update , and my thunder got its glory back :)

As i said, there is a reason people use protections against thunder and that is because its too fricking OP.

Thunder is soo annoying, remove it  xaxaax  :ph34r: 

I dont hate the idea, but it is wrong since its probably the most historic turrent (i will spell it with an n, thank you) in the entire game :P

I might rather argue that people use protections against it because so many ppl use it...with the sales today a clanmate bought a kit...thunder, which means that everyone in my clan has m3 thunder...and they all have thunder protection. When I play thunder, I usually switch because I get tired of doing only partial damage against basically everyone. Thunder is great in polygon cp...but there seem to be enough people here the dont think thunder should be nerfed. Same thing as isida...I think isida is a bit too powerful, but some ppl want it buffed. That shows it is probably well balanced

There is no need to remove it, just remove its splash and it would not be OP anymore.

yes , make thunder literally a slow smoky , such a nice idea

Exactly. A slow long range Smoky with higher damage. It would require more skill because the Thunder player would not be able to kill Hornet/Wasp Isida by shooting into the tank in front of Isida. Isidas would not become OP beacuse Isida trains can be destroyed by Magnum or Shaft.

i don't exactly get your point , why not just get smoky if you like that playing style ?

Smoky has only 10% weak damage so it can not be used as a true long range turret. Thunder has 50% weak damage, same as Shaft arcade shot and Vulcan so it is way stronger than Smoky.

Smoky is not a long range turret, it's a mid range turret just like thunder is. And just because thunder can produce more damage per hit than smoky doesn't mean that it is a better gun. The splash damage can also be used against the user as the smoky user can just go right up to thunders face. Smoky has a faster reload time than thunder. So thunder can't obviously beat a smoky of the same Modification at close range or short range. Mid to long range is thunders only chance to being able to beat smoky.

I completely agree with the fact Thunder is the most Op is the game, due to its splash damage, now he can use a protection against thunder to be more OP, but people say

"Thunder is completely nerf in later ranks, its no need to be nerf more"

this maybe true but, thunder is stronger at all low ranks, specially from M1 to M3 range. means M1 and M2 versions are too op. for battles at my ranks, thunders are always first of second in battles and crystal gain, not cause of skills just cause of kills, one double damage combined thunder can kill any hull except mammoth.

"game balance is not only for high rank, it should be balanced at low rank too"

so on that case, Thunder M1 and M2 must be nerf not M0 and M3

 

(thunder smoky and magnum are now rule the game at my rank, which is not balance)
