Stop "Goal-Tending" in CTF, RGB, and ASL

Recommended Posts

Have you ever seen a Wasp try to move a Mammoth off the flag standard for the cap? I have. And I've seen the Mammoth turn the turret towards the Wasp, so I know the Mammoth knows it's there, but refuses to move. The Mammoth wants you to drop the flag so it can make the cap. If I'm fighting like the dickens and finally manage to grab the flag, I'm not about to give it up, unless I make that choice.

In retaliation to this dilemma, I've seen teammate flag bearers carry the flag back to enemy territory instead of giving it up to a selfish, stubborn Mammoth. Even when the opposing team is down to nearly nothing and being spawn killed, that Mammoth still sits on the flag.

I think the reduction in HP is a good idea. A Mammoth can still defend the base if it's maybe the length of a Wasp or a Hornet away from the flag and paying attention. The Mammoth can still get on the flag standard to block the enemy and take very little damage for that few seconds. Plus, it's not blocking the teammates from capping.

Yes, the Mammoth can be reported for sabotage, providing someone is taking videos. But that isn't going to help the present situation.

The OriginalPost was mostly discussing the banning of "goaltending" by the opposing team.  Could not grab the flag.

Sure there are tool-bag team-mates that sabotage - preventing tanks from capping.

But that's not prevalent enough to remove a legit strategy from the game.

First of all, Rugby isn't "dead".

It has as many battles as TDM, DM and CP.

Second, the mammoth and titan sitting on the point is simply doing an extremely vital role on the team, especially on the blue team in ASL. Without them, the opposition would win too easily.
