War Herald, Issue #3

If there is communication and its in the forum lol god help us all (Spies alert ).So it wont change anything.If there is no communication RU faction or EU doesnt matter.wise choice would be go with the majority.

Thing is, I'm still not sure whether quantity really matters over effectiveness. I've been hearing that russians are good in terms of both, but is it really? Were there any other community battles based on k/d before, where russians won over the other communities?

 

About the communication forum post, I hope they had taken that into consideration. A discord server or a chat system inside their special war website? The second option would have been better if they were able to implement it, since (if I remember correctly) you can login to the war website after you have chosen a faction paint. I don't know programming, so I wouldn't how how difficult it would be to implement a chat inside the website for each faction, that can hold ~50k people.

If i make 200 kills and vote in strategy phase and make like 40-50 kills in the battle phase (may be none) do i get that turn reward?

your chat site idea is correct but imagine among 50k people even if 10k people asking what to do in the chat or spam(if you ever experienced event chat before event starts) it would be a total mess.so they have to create many chat servers for a single community.don't think developers will go through that much trouble.

 

also in my gaming experience with russians they are pro druggers.surprisingly their k/d is not that well but they get the job done(wins), the overall winner will be decided through resource collected (territory will go to the highest k/d).so it will be a close fight between eu and ru.other 2 factions will disappear in turn 3 or 4 (lose their capital),
So among my 4 account 2 will be fighting in war .1 with eu and 1 with ru

Let's look for some perspective and context. TO has often run weekend contests like, 400 kills in 48 hrs gets you 3 GB, 800 gets you 5 and 2,000 gets you 10 plus a bonus prize.

 

In the War TO is calling for only 200+ kills in 48 hours to win 3 containers. One container is worth about 10 GBs. Ten times the reward for a bit more than half the effort. And if you are on the winning team you get 20 times the reward for half the effort. Plus you can do multimple 48-hour periods if you want.

 

That's not even factoring in 1-time bonus provinces.

 

I don't think players can claim this event takes too much to participate not in the context of TO's past.

As much as I hate the idea, I did participate and got 800 kills on 3 different crazy weekends, so technically you are correct. Its just, killing is so stupid and boring. I'd rather have to get 3000xp.

 

200 kills per day sounds legit :P

I'll stick with EN. I wonder though what happens when players with the same faction paint meet in battle, in opposite teams? Do they shoot at each other or not? The K/D matters so by killing each other you're not aiding the cause of the faction. It's still so confusing. :wacko:

Dude, I'm pretty sure you choose your faction by paint EG. DEUTSCHE paint = (DE) DEUTSCHE Faction, unless you mean a German in Blue meets a German in Red? Edited by Iron_Crusader

I'm pretty sure you don't have to wear the paint - you just have to have it in your garage.

 

IF they are wearing the paint and you hold back against them it could be considered sabotage.  Especially in TDM ;)

Yes exactly, I would love to see a proper Crusader paint post-war haha but yeah all you do is buy the paint of your chosen faction, then go blow sh*t up

True/ Good catch. For half the time the workload is the same. Plus you do have to get some significant kills the 2nd day.  (But for the daily missioner that much is n/p.)

 

But still compared to the weekend GB events this War pays out at least tenfold more. It looks like TO has decided their in-game economy was in fact broken. Income levels are being raised though all these container giveaway mechanisms.

Yes you vote for your team strategy that turn but once that vote is settled everyone is on the same team fighting for the same strategy and earning the same phat lewt.

Wow. These guys might have actually made a pretty damn good game, this War thing.

 

Now that we know a little more in terms of reward system we can think a little about strategies.  I am starting to think the small teams have a massive advantage. But even if I am wrong about that the 4 teams are going to be faced with some hard choices. Some early rulles-of-thumb to consider.

 

  • The soonest the War can be won is after 5 full turns. That would pay 15 Containers +15 for the winner.
  • Capturing a single 20-Container province would pay more than would a quick victory.
  • Provinces with resources needed to win will not pay 1-time bonuses.
  • In order to win quickly a team must target resource provinces as often as possible.
  • It follows then the faster a team tries to win the fewer 1-time bonuses it will capture.
  • The longer the War lasts the move profitable it will be to win it.

 

Suddenly this game got quite interesting. I withdraw my prediction of a 6-turn first game. :)

You will only get containers for a turn if you make 200+ kills and cast your vote on the special website during Strategy phase and contribute during Battle phase of a turn (48 hour period).

 

And if a faction is completely defeated from the special war site does that mean they can not win any more prizes?  :(

I highlighted what you have to do for the reward. If you don't do either of those 3 things, you will not get the reward.

Yes, during each turn you want to receive a reward for. You will also have to cast your vote and make some kills on the second day (battle phase) of that turn, to get the reward.

Yes, what matters is THAT you voted, now WHAT you voted for.

 

What do I have to vote to make my 200+ kills count in the War Herald?

That's entirely  up to you. You'll be able to see the options on the special site once it's been launched (on the 19th of February after 2:00 UTC).

Yep...a couple of other points.

 

It pays to drag the war out till your team gets the 100 max containers....Winning too early is effectively bad for all the participants.

 

If the war drags out....you'd assume the no-lifers and high-quality players would receive their max 100 container reward first. Will they all maintain interest in the contest?? (can't remember what the final reward is, temporary animated paint and a long shot at a dream tank I think)..is this enough? especially if they aren't necessarily fighting for their community, but themselves.

 

p.s...these points are off the top of my head, might be complete nonsense.
