Who takes longer to get ready for a date..?

It would surprise you that you might think woman would , but really its men..

On average men spend 81 minutes a day on personal grooming, including cleansing, toning and moisturising, shaving, styling hair and choosing clothes, the study found.

Women have their beauty regime down to a fine art and get hair, clothes and make-up done in just 75 minutes.

"81 minutes a day"

You don't spend all day getting ready for a date, so I think your point is kinda flawed in that respect :D

And also "Just 75 minutes".

It's only 6 minutes less than men...

But regardless, women spend far longer getting ready for that sort of thing. At least, in my experience anyway.

Though I do like my long showers...

Self care is for weaklings. Go to sleep fully dressed, wake up 30 minutes later (31 if I've had a good day beforehand), work for 22 hours, come home, Tanki for 3 hours, back to sleep.

Anyone who has more than one set of clothes is clearly wasting their M4 budget.

ha funny some of these comments . but it really shows the time and care we all do take to look our best at any given time of the day . not just for the other partner but to go shopping with friends . to me I agree with this study that Men do take as much time as for woman . see they don't take in consideration that some woman also do some  items the night before the date , for example shaving legs / plucking eye brows / nails polish and other things that take time .

I think that depends on the people, not gender. Some women don't like makeup and some men want to see what the woman looks like without the mask. Personally, I'm All Naturale. I hate makeup, it makes my skin feel like it's crawling and I'm allergic to a lot of them. I'll put on a little bit of lipstick, very light, just to give my pale lips some color. I have very short hair. No fuss, no muss. So, consequently, it takes me about 30 minutes to get ready, that includes the shower. But I start getting ready about an hour before the date so I have time to chill.

That kind of shoots holes in your research. Not everyone fits into the same mould.

yes you do bring up good points , see I also forgot seeing I'm a woman that men do take better care of them self's, with shaving chest hairs / pedicures for hands or feet / some have beards and others don't . so many things we don't take into consideration for the other party to get ready for events.

The thing is, studies like this depend massively on where it actually took place - i.e, who was interviewed/asked.

If you're from the UK and you enjoy looking at the non-biased, left-wing news website that is the "BBC", then you may recently have seen an article on how "study finds women are actually stronger than men". Obviously, if you're on the "extremely feminist","slightly feminist" or "hehehe" side of the spectrum, then an article such as this will appeal to you - as I'm sure is the intention. Studies, which make women look better, such as the one which you've made this topic on (for example) have been created in order to appeal to a society desperate to always have women "on top" (don't take that the wrong way  ). Yes, you may say I'm overreacting, because at the end of the day, it's just a study on who takes longer to get ready. However, I'm going to say it now, it irritates me...I know for a fact, that this study is completely false, unless it took place in a certain area. Hands down, if a survey on "who takes longer to get ready" was taken throughout the whole of the UK (or most other countries), women would be the ones who take longer. Why? Because the majority of women globally wear a more makeup and other beauty products than the majority of males. Everyone knows this for a fact, let's not lie to ourselves. Most of my male friends do their hair, shower, deodorant in a matter of 30 minutes at the most, and I'm pretty sure if you asked a non-biased man or woman, they'd probably say the same.

Obviously, I'm not trying to offend, so don't take any of this the wrong way. However, it'd be interesting to know if I'm the only one who is getting tired of men being continually degraded by a large number of women (shout out to them nice ones) in order to make women feel better about themselves. I am, by no means, sexist. Nevertheless, when I see "surveys" like this, 24/7, it is annoying. Why should men not be entitled to being better at something, stronger, or even be faster at getting ready to go out on a date, than a woman? Going back to the BBC's "study", you take your average male, and average female, your average male is going to be stronger. Why? Because the male body naturally creates the hormone "testosterone", which helps the body to produce more muscle mass.

Anyway, I'm going to stop ranting now...

Bye

Way to over-analyze something and make a problem out of nothing.

Not entirely true. He is right; nowadays, supposed "studies" basically mean nothing. Statistics are biased, 'reputable' News/Entertainment sources glorify and embellish just about everything - funnily enough, they're often the ones making problems out of nothing. It is very frustrating.

Studies mean things alright. Yes, they are easily manipulated by media. Yes, the results are heavily dependent on context - although this is something I'd imagine is a given. But there are two things that bother me with that rant:

Anecdotal evidence. According to OP the study is "for a fact false" because his male friends get ready in X amount of time. And he is sure that if you "asked a non-biased man or woman, they'd probably say the same." No matter how much of an agenda the BBC allegedly pushes, at least some sort of study is still going to be more reliable than anecdotal evidence. For the record, I agree with OP on this point, but I simply cannot accept first relying on your own, limited personal experience to form an opinion about a point and then claim a source which states the opposite based on perhaps not 100% reliable, but still more plausible evidence is biased. To use a rather extreme example: suppose there is some far-rightist who regards studies on global warming as some government conspiracy and the like, and relies on his personal experience of living in a cold area to justify his opinion. Like I said this is an extreme example and OP is far from this (studies on global warming are far more reliable than some random study on personal care), but the principle is the same.

How you can make a case of feminism bias from a study so trivial. This is probably my main point. I cannot see how one can come to the conclusion that this study is pushing an agenda just because it states men take longer to get ready than women. While I agree that feminism is cancer and the news loves to go out of their way to make it mainstream, this is probably one of the last studies I'd use to support my viewpoint. Like OP says having this kind of a reaction to this study is over-reacting.

Anyway I have failed to heed my own criticism and ended up over-analyzing something and making a fuss over nothing.

Don't misquote me mate. What I actually said was: "I know for a fact, that this study is completely false, unless it took place in a certain area".

Note: "unless it took place in a certain area". The issue which I am raising here, is not the fact that the "study" is necessarily fake, but the fact that it is, as you say, manipulated by the media, and, as I said, that there is never a given location stated. However, at the end of the day, without a given location or place in which the survey was performed, I don't really think there's a problem with the points which I've stated. Answer me truthfully, if you surveyed 1 million random people worldwide (say, 500k men, and 500k women), on "who takes longer to get ready for a date", how do you think the results would look? You walk down the street, who do you see wearing more makeup? Men, or women?.. Women.

If you walk into a male modelling agency, the results may differ. However, the "study" which Bylord quoted was not in a male modelling agency, as far as I can see, it's worldwide - as a  location was never stated.

Obviously, everyone is entitled to forming their own opinion on the matter - hence the reason why I said near the end of my post "it'd be interesting to know if I'm the only one". At the end of the day, I was merely pointing out the fact (to me personally, it is a fact, owing to the stacked amount of evidence) that as there are so many "studies" which give off a feminist vibe, which leads me to believe that it's either fake, or a concentrated survey.

Guys if you really come down to it were all the same . no one can say who is faster in getting ready we all take our time getting ready at different speeds. see some take more time doing one task well others find it way to easy..because they do it regularly its basically the same for make up not all woman wear it , I have not touched it for over 8 years , what for to make someone look at me differently , were all the same people with in the outer shell.

Statistics and studies don't tell the whole story . its based on what they want to hear. same with reporters they only give part of the story ..

we as society need to read between the lines and get the real facts before making judgement calls..

I only posted this to see what others would have to say on this study . to me like I have said before , we all do things in our own give time ,

why rush beauty ...

Well, no offence, but if that was your intention, it probably would have been best to say that in your main post. As it is, you sounded like you were stating a definite fact, and not just quoting some random study. I may be coming across as offensive, but honestly, it's not intentional. It's just difficult to portray emotions across text - without using emojis and looking completely childish.

I appreciate the fact that you've tried to end this "debate", so I'll leave it there.

Have a nice day :)
