Best Gaming Laptops

So, I have been really interested in getting an MSI GL62M 7RD Laptop, but I also am a bit interested in a Dell Inspiron. I'm looking for a laptop that can better handle the games I play, and maybe some more in case I want to play bigger games than Tanki, Minecraft or Unturned.

These two laptops on Best Buy are both $799.99. Neither of them are touch screen, they're both 15.6" with solid state drives, however, the MSI has 256 gigs, vs Dell Inspiron's 128 (which is half of MSI's). They both run on the Intel 7th Gen core i5 processor at 2.5GHz and both have 8GB of RAM. That's for specs.

As you can see, the specs are pretty much the same, save for the MSI having twice the gigs for the solid state drive. Now, other things I have noticed that are different from these two, is that Dell has better customer support and coverage. MSI has better performance - it's quieter, cooler, and meant for a longer duration for gameplay. Not only that, it can be stuffed with 4x as much RAM as it has, which means, if I wanted to, I could buff it up to 32GB of RAM!

Kind of like putting a V12 Lamborghini engine into a Corvette, if that can even be done.

The problem I have with gaming on laptops is they get hot. MSI removes that problem with SIX heat pipes to give maximum cooling, preserving the GPU and CPU from too much heat exposure. The Dell has only a single heat pipe. After extensive gaming, it's performance will worsen. I guess the coverage is a good backup for that. However, MSI has it's own coverage, that if within 30 days of purchasing one of their laptops, you gain full accidental coverage, like dropping it, for instance.

I'm not going to go much into the design of the laptops because I'm more for the quality than the looks, but the MSI does win the beauty contest, if there were one.

Both have their ups and downs, a really close call, but the main factors that make it hard to choose for me is the fact Dell has better customer support, but the MSI has more features, like the insane amount of RAM is gets (plus it has customizable keyboard LED lights o.O)

So, it's either better coverage for the same price, or better features and performance for the same price.

(So this isn't; "Oh these are the best, gimme a cookie," more or less which is better. Sorry .-.)

I'm on a budget, with $800.00 being the limit. Thanks, though.

If you arent going to take your laptop outside or other places. (if ur going to leave it at home)

MSI is a good choice

Well ofc its release alot of heat since the laptop is bulky and has dual fans.
Performances a lot better than dell.

If u need portable gaming laptop get the razer blade. Its small and light to take outside and other places.
Just note that Razer is a small company and doesnt have a physical store. If u break something, you probably have to send it back to the company and thats really costly.

Other then that, you could build a gaming pc, depending on ur budget.

Ah, my laptop NEVER leaves my house. MSI being mainly for gaming is what's really got me attracted to it. I have my Best Buy cart open in another tab currently. Still trying to decide if I should get it or not.

Pretty decent choice for your budget I would say.

MSI is great for budget gaming laptops. Not only are there six heat pipes for drawing out heat, you can control the fans AND there's a button for one purpose: To kick the fans into full throttle for instant coolness under heavy gaming.

Stealth pro is like low - mid of the higher end of the MSI laptops I believe, so you probably can play pretty much anything you can think of...lucky.

If the Inspiron you're looking at is this one https://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-inspiron-15-6-laptop-intel-core-i5-8gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1050-1tb-8gb-hybrid-hard-drive-black/5709801.p?skuId=5709801

it's got 1TB not 128mb storage.

Both that and the MSI have the GTX1050 which is a Class 2 graphics card (good).

IMO either would do, but as with new lappies you now have to make do with a small, 15-in screen.

I wouldn't put storage as my priority, as external storage is easier to buy than it is to upgrade the graphics card - usually impossible with a laptop.

$799 is really cheap for a gaming laptop - I paid that for mine refurbed eight years ago.*

I also don't think upgrading RAM is necessarily a priority either - the first thing that will make your purchase obsolete will be the graphics card.

Be aware that the one-button fan control isn't such a great thing - you can get free programs like 18kfanGUI which does the same thing for free. https://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/

Don't go by the number of cooling pipes, but by how many fans there are - Dell gamers used to come with 2 fans.

Also, the keyboard lights are nice on the day of purchase but quickly become a nuisance.

*  (I use a Dell XPS M1710 gamer, circa 2006 which is now obsolete compared to yours game-wise but in other areas it blows others out of the water - I use mine for music production and it can run 44-sequencer DAW tracks that friends' laptops struggled to.)

edit: might be useful to edit it to something that makes sense.

Ah, Rich.

I got laptop. I call it as gaming but, It can run GTA SA and Vice city smooth. I forgot about the Dangerous Dave and super Mario.

Tanki is enough for me.

it is not gaming tho. I just got it for free by government during my farewell.

IF you want money, Ask to Pewdiepie. :P
