What is your broadband speed?

 Share

Recommended Posts

I don't play tanki online as much as I used to or would like to, mainly because of LAG. Imagine you're about to shoot with railgun and your tank moves to the side, making you miss completely. The other day I had so much lag that my tank drove itself along the beach at rio.

I would like to compare broadband speeds with other users so I can find out where I stand.

My download speed works out as 11.88 Mb/s and upload speed is 1.04 Mb/s.

Thanks

11 mbps is more than enough for Tanki. The lag you experienced may be down to Ping (latency)  or issues with the server.

I have a 380mbps connection.

I always have this speed. My PING in Tanki is 70-110 normally. I face lag during peak hours (6-12 PM).

my home speed is 8.8mbps/800kbps

but i am even able to play on weakened 64/32kbps celluar.

conditions:

load ALL files in cache

NEVER DELETE CACHE

wait pathetic 5 minutes to load tanki client, browser and flash player do infinite loop because theres no fully saved cache

join only half full battles (10 players)

so then we divide 56 to 10 players (yes i know theoretical maximum is even beyond it with forced compression but usually its 56kbps same as dialup) so we get around 5600 bytes per second that you receive by one player. when we lag we see tanks spin continuously so we can say tanki sends "vector movements"(drive,left,right...) and that wouldnt really need much data so when there is no lag, additional pings can be ignored (like 100 ping)

also you cant load garage in bettle so you must do it in lobby, loading it for 3-4 pathetic minutes and go back to battle list in 30 seconds

battles, chat, friend list and actual load of battles have only 1 second of extra delay (assuming you have COMPLETELY cached map where you enter)

its painful but we are going to conclusion: internet speed wont affect gameplay. its the ping

I envy that some nearby suburb has NBN internet lines installed
The NBN download speed is high enough for me to watch netflix in 4K
