Idea for Competition

Recommended Posts

I've always wondered which of the weapons in Tanki was the strongest. That's why I came up with an idea, why not gather all of the most skilled users of each weapon (in other words the best player of each weapon) and make them all battle in one DM to conclude who the strongest weapon really is. This would make sense since each of the users is the best. If this really took place, who would you think were to win?

Valid

Sounds interesting, but I doubt it would be an accurate comparison. Each turret has very different handling and works best in different environments. For example, Magnum and Firebird are best for maps with a lot of players, where there's potential to deal damage to a bunch of players in one place. Railgun is good on large maps with open spaces, Twins is good on small, tight maps. Shaft and Isida are good support turrets, but don't preform well in a 1v1. And so on...

Besides, in theory all turrets are balanced and there shouldn't be any overpowered or underpowered weapons. Developers sometimes release balance updates where they change turrets' power, so you can't just do this competition and decide "once and for all" what the most powerful gun is.

Exactly, this would help test if any weapon was 'overpowered' so any changes to them could be made. Besides, a true great player would know how to use their weapon to its fullest potential in any map.

Developers have better tools for determining which turret is strongest. Doing a bunch of 1v1 duels between turrets won't give any useful info - it's just for fun.

But Maf's point was that one turret's potential would be lower than another's depending on the map. Give me the world's best freeze player, and I could easily beat them in Monte Carlo with railgun.

Very true, but what about a map like Highland, Aleksandrovsk, or Polygon? Those are universal maps for turrets.
