How to name and describe what Tanki calls Tank Controls?

To discuss the new Tank Controls update go to the official topichttp://en.tankiforum.com/index.php?showtopic=370596

I have posted my feedback in the official topic.

My opinion is that both controls should stay in the game and that we should be allowed to switch from one to the other. Because i think the new update will not fit all hulls, styles and turret usage. That option could be in the form of alterations for Hulls, or in Settings, for free.

But many get confused and misunderstand the new update.

My understanding is that the new "controls" mimic the driving dynamics of real tanks, where the older "controls" mimic an automobile. You can see the difference by turning when holding the forward and left or right keys, with the new controls the turning is very sharp, and if you release the right or left key the tank almost immediately drives forward. This means more precise controlling of tanks. The problem is that we players are not machines making precise moves, one small mistake and we are misfiring or hitting a corner. And that's why I think we need to have both options.

We also need a better name and description for both "controls" or dynamics, as I call it, to have better chances of having both, I think.

We are not driving a real tank here. So I wouldn't get into much detail about how we are not robots or perfect to drive an online game with tanks. Either way, mistakes were made with previous controls and will always be like that as you mentioned "We are not machines" to make perfect moves, you can simply drive further away from the corner, simple solution I'd say?

There is nothing confusing about the update? Mainly, people were asking about the controls and what has changed, they were given an explanation on the original post about the update. Some of the players did not even notice new controls, otherwise they would've been complains all around forum.

But everyone is free to have an opinion, sure.

Toggle precise turning

I think this is increased turning acceleration - it now takes less time for the hull to reach its maximum traverse speed, and consequentially less time for it to stop turning. However, the Wiki shows no change in this value. The vlog described it as applying a force in the direction opposite to the turn when the turn stops.

This is precisely how it was explained in one of the most recent V-LOGs, so you understood correctly.

With the old controls making corrections is easier and more effective, with the new controls is harder, however this depends with your play style and turret selection.

A camping Wasp/Smoky will see no difference or even be more effective because of Smoky's instant shot, but a Wasp/Isida attacking, healing, moving forward, moving backwards, turning, and circling multiple tanks will have a hard time with the new controls.

This update was done specifically for the Mobile Version update. Devs realised that with the "old controls" there's a very minor, but important correction that everyone does when turning. On the keyboard it's a subconscious reflex, but on mobile controls it takes a lot more effort to make that correction. That's why some of the hulls had to be changed in order to be payable on mobile devices.

I know, that's why I think we need to have both in the game so we can pick what suits us better or if we are playing mobile or with keyboard. There could also be an auto option that switches between the two automatically depending the device we are playing on.

The options could be called:

Standard hull dynamics: Better when playing on mobile devices

Advanced hull dynamics: Better when playing with a keyboard

Auto-switch

True, but I also don't think it's that big of a difference to justify creating a whole new setting just for it. I mean, I was playing Wasp and Viking before and I still play them now. Already got used to the "new controls" and can't even feel the difference.

You can see the difference and are affected negatively when playing with a close range turret with Wasp and Hunter, if you are one of those that likes circling and making 8s around enemies and friends.

Edit: I just tried Wasp and Hunter M0 and it's not that bad. But M2 and M3 is not that good for the play style I was talking about. The higher the modification the sharper the turns become.

What about m1 wasp? I didn’t feel anythhing. i thought ht they would be actual controls. loke instead of using WASD using jslc or something

Can someone pls explain to me what the new controls are specifically?

tanki doesn’t know what controls are. basically, some tanks move differently then they did before. turns are sharper

Nothing impressive but the turns are more specific now. The hulls turn directly without hesitating now, as before the update, you could basically drift with any hull, such as wasp, hornet or hunter (viking is still available for that). It's like they are attached to the ground when you turn right or left like a train when it turns its direction.

This is a representation of how I feel Viking and Hunter turn:

Now you can do your tests with your equipment this way and see which work with your play style. I think Hunter needs an adjustment, because after the update you need to make quick taps left or right to make the desired turn, if you hold left or right for a little too long you'll have overdone your turn, not good for close range fighters.

Tanki needs to come up with better dynamics to make driving fun, I say have two settings, one for mobile and one for keyboard.

Technically tanks already can't make sharp turns like they do, but given the dynamic nature of the game it's understandable. I think that only the light hulls should be able to move like they do currently, and the mediums and heavies should have to traverse left or right to make it around corners.
