Even though I voted MUing, I am planning on buying Hornet M2 straight-up, as I do not have the M1 (and if I get it during 30-50% sale, it is barely more expensive than Thunder M1).

I think it is beneficial to buy kits for anyone under the rank of Marshal, as it will give them an overall advantage over the rest in his rank, as well as allow him to play in higher rank battles without getting murdered. If Marshal or over then it won't be beneficial, like stated by others you must waste extra crystals on useless paints. Buying Individually is the best way to go.

PFFFT and buying? HA! No -_-

> Marshal you can't buy a kit anyway - all the m3 items have been unlocked by then.

MU is a great value with some weapons and less so with others, depending on a bunch of stuff, but if you like the weapon you are currently using it does provide the advantage of you developing skills with the weapon that grows in strength.  Unless it gets nerfed in a rebalance!

You can still buy kits at marshal rank which is the last rank to buy any kit.

I still somehow believe SOME of the kits are cheaper to buy than buying any M3/Protection/Paint separately (even on 50% sale). That kit with Zeus, hunter and fire would be cheaper to buy it as a kit since Zeus is 500k crystals which is 250k on 50% sale but still expensive in total with other M3's added.

Given the amount of 50/70 MU sales we've been getting lately and the fact that non-M3 modifications only have 10 steps and those steps cost the same as the next modification, I feel like you'd be making a mistake by not MUing your equipment as soon as you can and getting the next modification for free.

That might not always be the best course of action especially in the WO5-1st Let. ranks.

Explaination:

---> Suppose you buy a m1 twins through a kit in the early WO ranks and MU it to m2, you immediately get a big benefit and have a huge advantage in any battle you play, usually topping the scoreboard and earning tons of experience. But, just as you reach the lieutenant ranks, your advantage starts diminishing away and its time to get the next modification. Now here is the dilemma which many players face, buy the ram/jam/minotaur kit in 1st let, wasting a lot of crystals in the process as you already have the m2 modification OR wait till let. colonel to save a lot of crystals and redeem your m2 twins for free and MU it to m3.

---> This choice depends on the type of equipment, its usage and the amount of crystals you can re-earn with it, which players are unable to forsee and many a time make big mistakes they regret later on.

---> A simple solution to this is to get a secondary combo (in a kit) which is of a different range/type than your current combo at the eariler unlock ranks, play with it till you reach the unlock rank of your already m2'ed equipment, claim it for free and go on.

What I'm trying to say is that it all depends on what your plan of action is, there is no best option as such instead one should do all of the 3 options in a planned, timely manner.

Buying equipment straight-up is almost always a mistake though. (unless of course you have one turret and hull of the same modification as you are buying from, or you are on the rank and there is a sale...)

I prefer buying a kit at the rank it's unlocked, and fully MUing it. And yes, it's possible also for free players.

I also did a similar strategy. As a non-buyer I saved up over 900k crystals as I only used one combo during pro and non pro battles. But now, I ranked to lieutenant general and bought 2 M3s kits. I have 4 M3s, 2 decent M3 modules and still have crystals left over to MU or save to buy more M3s at marshal.
