Make battles longer

Recommended Posts

Hello!
I know devs dont revert updates, but what's the point in reducing from 15 to 10 minutes? This is what i saw last several days:

Before:

-Battles were more than half of the time full. For example, after 7-8 minutes passed battles were full (more action)

-Gold boxes fall more often when fund is bigger -> there were 3-4 golds per 15 min round when double fund was active

Now:

-After every battle 3/4 players leave. Until the battle becomes full, half of battle ended. This leads to lower battle funds.

-There is less time for worse team to strike back. Now, if battle is 5v3, that can be at start, team with 5 members can easily cap 3 or 4 flags and they need only 1 more to win.

-People go to PRO battles. It's not a fun if you join a battle and it ends for 5 minutes.

I'd like to know what is better with this update (reducing time to 10 minutes).

Declined

If you watch today's livestream, you will find out the answer. Hazel-Rah said that 10 minutes is actually the most they could do for standard battles, so from here the only direction the timer can go is down (i.e. even shorter battles). The reason is that Tanki seems to be leaning more and more towards the future mobile audience, and they came to the conclusion that players using mobile phones usually don't have the time to sit in one place and play for hours. So the 10-minute battles are made for people who just decided to play Tanki to kill some time while waiting for the bus, or waiting for their mom or girlfriend to finish shopping.

Battles being full won't be a problem after MM is released, since the system will make sure that at the start of the battle there are already 20 players, which is even better than waiting for 7-8 minutes until the map fills up and properly playing for another 7 minutes.

Gold boxes also shouldn't be a problem, since all battles will have 20 players most of the time, resulting in the same or even greater rate of fund growth and a corresponding amount of gold boxes.
