Declined Karma Status Identifier

Hello! I am here to discuss another issue - Players not being able to check how clean their karma is. Some players (I know I do) want to apply for moderator roles, but are unsure of how clean our karma is. I am currently trying to apply for spectator mode (I have a completed entry), but I am deciding whether or not to apply because I am afraid I will be turned down due to my cleanness of my karma. I don't remember the last time I was banned (or even banned at all since I started this account), but if I were to apply and be declined due to karma issues, I would lose lots of time. I spent several hours editing my application, and if I am declined simply because my karma isn't clean enough, I would be really disappointed. What I am proposing in this forum topic is to provide some feature (possibly in the forum or on their ratings), where they would privately be able to figure out how clean their karma is. I think this feature would help lots of people, and there would be more applications for moderator jobs because people would realize that they actually can apply. I also think this tool should be private, as some people may be made fun of if people figure out that the player has a bad karma. I really hope this tool gets added, or someone is able to tell me the status of my karma, because I really want to apply for spectator mode. Thank you for reading this!  :)

I'm pretty sure that giving players the ability to check their karma would require a whole new update, because the current system would require a lot of changes. As far as I know, checking karma is a feature for administrators only, so giving this ability to players without making everyone admin is impossible at the moment.

 

The issue you mentioned in your post is not that big of a deal. For most helper positions 6 months of clean karma (i.e. no bans longer than an hour) is good enough to apply. Even if you apply and get rejected because of your karma, you can just apply again in a few months and it shouldn't be a problem.

 

Another issue if that punishment history is used to verify the account owner, so by giving access to it to anyone who has access to the account means that this information can no longer be used to recover accounts.
