Making the grind smaller - less EXP needed for Legend

1.6 million EXP for a non-buyer is about 6 years of your life time. Most players cannot do that. 

 

Make legend unlockable at 1.4 million EXP (where gissmo was at) and make the rank exp distribution gaps smaller, so people would be more engaged because people get really bored when they are at the same rank for a very long time...

But do you realise that by getting to Legend ranks sooner you are reducing the amount of crystals you'll earn before having to face other Legend players with M4 equipment?

 

Anyway, I don't think this is an issue. The current distribution seems pretty balanced, where you gain ranks quickly at first, getting you excited and involved in the game, while later on you rank up slowly and rarely, but you're already interested in the game itself, rather than just wanting to get the highest ranks.

 

I didn't spend much money on this game, yetI don't remember ever being particularly bored. If I was ever bored and stopped playing, it wasn't because of the lack of rank-ups, but rather because of lack of updates and gameplay becoming stale.

The main thing with Tanki is that it uses an old way of gameplay: the story mode -  a very long story mode - it took me 2 years (1000 hours) to reach this level and playing everyday with 10k xp per week. Most to of the current MMO have a very short story mode and some already removed it all together.
This leads you to lose track of your friend because they either rank faster than you or slower than you. At some point you cannot play with them due to ranks and equipment differences.

The other drawback is that:

- you need to reach a certain level/ranks to be able to do some basic parkour tricks.

- you spend months with the same equipment because you cannot afford a different one and then you can't do specific parkour tricks or e-sport format.

A shorter story mode will mean more battle available, more diversity in equipment, more e-sport players and a higher possibility to play with your friends.

1.400 k is still too much. When you spend already 200 hours you should be M4 already.

Gotta say... my 1st Lt. account is waaaay more fun than this account.

 

The legend battles are somewhat "stale" because, unless you pop a DA immediately upon re-spawning you can die very quickly.

There's not much to look forward to except for grinding for crystals to upgrade one item by 1 MU.

 

Maybe keep Legend 1 xp as is but lessen the amount of xp between all the rest at bit. 

Just takes forever to go up 1 legend level for ... 40k crystals - that pays for 1 or 2 MUs... maybe.

May add a random bonus upon legend rank up in addition to the 40k.  An uncommon paint.  Or a free MU.  Something...

Back in 2011 the latest equipment unlock was at 2nd lieutenant, so you could easily have a WO-5 with more power than a Marshal :D

Not much of an explanation... not necessarily looking for something gives advantage. 

I ought to know - I'm legend 2 fighting legend 20s, 30s, 40s...

 

The "bragging rights" part loses it's luster 6 months in...

 

Now low ranks can buy M3/M4 make majors > Legends. 

How does even a "buyer" major compete with Legends?  They are stuck at M2 10/10.

No please no, if anything we should make the ranks require MORE xp because you don't have enough time to earn the proper amount of crystals to face buyers.

 

Im a non buyer and this would totally suck, do not do this, make the ranks cost more

1.6 million vs 1.4 million isn't that big of a difference in practice.

Agreed the difference is so little it would barely be noticeable.

How are ranks, experience and buyers connected?

 

You can have buyers at any rank. 

A Keeper kit fully upgraded with upgraded module would destroy Sergeants on the maps they play.

Don't get me started on the Predator kit.  Only a buyer can afford that.

fully MUed keeper is more powerful than fully MUed predator because m2 smoky + m2 titan both unlock later than M2 thunder + m2 hunter

Legend is at a high exp number for one reason only: So long-time players DO have something left to use as a goal.  Reducing the exp requirement ruins that.

 

The point of the game is NOT this:  reach Legend. The point of the game IS this: have fun battles.  If you play long enough you end up at the Legend rank.  If you try to reach Legend as fast as you possibly can you're just cheating yourself.  The journey is what matters not the wod "Legend" at its end.

May be true - depends on map.  larger maps predator more useful as Thunder better at range and Hunter covers ground faster.

But point is - both are OP when available - mostly by buyers.

I'm on board with keeping Legend 1 at it's current experience. 

 

What I was suggesting was lowering subsequent Legend plateaus as it takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r to advance each of the next steps. 

And throwing in a random item (something harmless like a paint) as special reward couldn't hurt either. The grind from Legend# to legend#+1 is somewhat monotonous.

What? What? I started the game in 2012, and I reached 3 or 4 millions without bying. After that, I bought a few bundles, but that's not a big deal. You don't need 6 years to reach Legend 1.

2.5 years and I'm Legend2.25... so yeah... the 6-year thing must be someone who plays extra-casually... like 2 hrs/week max.

Your goal shouldn't be to rank up to legend as fast as possible, it should be to get as much highly modified equipment before you rank up to legend as you can.

 

But your ultimate goal in this game is to have fun.

The only players I've ever seen with Predator Kit were buyers.  I suppose getting lucky with a25k crystal pack from container would help.

 

Game is definitely more fun at lower levels.  Upper levels feels like much more of a grind.

I try to hold back playing my Captain account too much because I don't want it to rank so fast...

Predator doesn't even look that great, both Hunter and Thunder are weak at m2.. I have an account that is at the rank Master sergeant, and have made over 70k crystals on it. This is an account I made simply to see how OP I could get. And I haven't spent a cent on it or this account either. Low ranks are a lot more fun, I can only imagine the game gets a lot harder in the next few ranks for me.

Agreed, my goal isn't to get exp, but to get crystals to buy equipment. And of course I only play because I think it's fun.

So....two things. First 1.6 million? Sweet because that means I'm 61% of the way there. Also, I like the way in this game, acheiving eliteness takes a lot of work. How many games do you play for 20-30 hours and by that time you've leveled a ton and are now a top tier player. In TO, after 30 hours, some ppl are still below m1 levels, which is great. I wanted to get to m3s for so long, and now that I've hit that level, it feels very satisfying
