Is tanki dying ? Lets discuss

Recommended Posts

Hey guys , as you know this game had 40k active users until 3 months ago but now it is not even high above 25-30k. What do you think about this? What tanki should do to bring old players back?

And as I remember , in old years tanki had more active players than now.

In fact I started to playing this game in August 2010, I saw too many things and I liked 2014 most.

if you ask my forum-registration date, loginci is my 4th acc other 3 accs have stolen, then I learnt how to link our email to acc so i did it and im still using this acc;)

Tanki did have a lot of players at the start, but "there was no way a software demo from 2009 would become popular again in its current state" But the game needs to keep growing and make a lot of change for new and old players to still play.. Hopefully MMS should help (Not solve) the issue with the imbalanced game-play between buyers and non-byers, but one must accept the fact that Tanki needs to keep growing and become profitable for the market, and many players would say the game was better in 2014-2015 but in fact the game would have gone bankrupt. in 2015 the game didn't have enough revenue to "cover the cost of advertisement"  There where 2 options, work on plans for when the game reach's this stage, or "leave it to die off on it's own" and then they had to improve the project, but that could not be done without changing the old Tanki. Yes there have been a lot of changes throughout the years, but these changes hopefully are being done for a reason - To improve the game-play between free-players and buying players.

Funny, there is probably the same topic posted a year ago.
I'll reply the same: exams period and it's hot ans sunny outside - too many good reasons to reduce your time playing Tanki. (+ fortnite this year  )
Last year it was about 20 k players - I guess 25-30 is relatively better :)

Pretty sure whatever has been (or will be) posted here has been said and discussed in this topic and many others like it, so I really don't see the point.

Oh well, here we go again...

  • One of the reasons for the reduction of player numbers is seasonal change. People go on holidays during summer and spend less time online. Happens every single year to every game and website. Numbers will go back up in September.
  • Yes, the game is less popular now than back in 2014, but this does not mean it's dying. It's becoming outdated and people are leaving, but having hundreds of thousands of active players every month is far from "dying".
  • Developers are actively working to help the game become popular again. The release of Matchmaking, Mobile version and other features is supposed to attract many new players to replace those, who left (while still keeping the old, dedicated audience).
  • Any online MMO game has an expiry date and can't remain relevant forever. The fact that Tanki still has thousands of players online after 9 years is extremely impressive, especially if you consider the fact that it was never meant to be a big MMO in the first place.
  • Devs shouldn't do anything to bring old players back. Normal people don't play the same game for years - they get bored and move on. Instead of doing everything to please the existing audience and make them stay, developers are focusing on refurbishing the game to make it more appealing to new players.

Okay so I think like that : Tanki ain't die easily buy won't be popular anymore.

Probably not 2014-popular, but it may still gain quite a few new players. A lot of 2000's MMOs already went through this process where they lost popularity, then had a massive update that made a bunch of changes and started becoming popular again.

Tanki had a great run at the start with a lot of players online then slowly the popularity dries out, every game does after 10+ years, that's what happens to every game.

Maybe Tanki  should decrease the amount of how much u need when u must buy m2s and m3s/ or m3s because thts my prob and also there are too mny druggers?

Compare Tanxi X supply system with Tanki I doubt you will say there are too many druggers on Tanki. Just because you meet at least one huge drugger in few battle doesn't mean it's over.

TX modules are a core part of the game. They are given for everyone to use and can be used indefinitely. Supplies in TO are purchasable consumables, and they are not really a core part of the game (in the sense that supplies are not really the defining game mechanic). There is a significant difference.

Do you play this game?

Which "TO" are you talking about?

Magnum is killing Tanki. Devs should nerf the splash damage to 50%, add shorter 2-rocket lock-on for Striker and remove the splash on Twins.

So...One only one turret is responsable for the loss of around 70k users at the start of course...So One turret is responsable..Only one..

no that was the mission update that resulted in loss of players.

magnum pain is only temporary, until everyone gets a magnum.

would be cool to see 10 vs 10 magnum TDMs

like world war, shells exploding everywhere ....
