I'll start playing Tanki after devs stop changing the game

Guess you won't be playing any time soon.

So... decisions... should my Captain buy M2 3-protection module now?  or wait until they change it drastically?

Don't buy anything - it might disappear right after the reboot.

Shoo, we're having a civilised discussion

I think that's my cue.

Scene: China shop.
Enter Stage Right: Bull

Yep, you're pretty much spot on.

The price depends on how the new system will work. If it's possible to buy multiple single modules from each turret, then I'm guessing 100-150 thousand crystals per M3 protection. But if you buy every protection module once and are then able to infinitely apply it to make as many modules as you like, then it could probably be up to 300k per module.

Another option is to have multiple module slots. So, for example you buy every individual protection for 50k and can apply them to modules any number of times, but in order to put them into a module you have to buy an empty module slot. T

These possibilities did not occur to me. I had a third concept in mind. A player would upgrade each of the 14 weapon types as much as they like. Then up to three of them would be selected to be active. If in battle you decide you need different protections you go to the garage and swap in three new protections from your individual upgrades. There would not be any pre-made pre-designed modules on the garage, just the 14 weapon types.

I just watched the Vlog again and I think this is the case due to the way a coulpe comments were worded.

What I'm saying is, why be upset about removal of items without compensation if you don't actually lose anything in terms of the amount of module power you have? i.e. you'll still be able to use the same modules in battle, only they will be much more compact, rather than separated into 40 different slots in your garage.

It all depends on how the converstion takes form. My assumption is every module you own will be removed. Will players get credit for those? Either in the form of Crystals or in terms of upgrade levels on the new 14? Or will everyone be reduces to 0% protection on all 14?  Will established players be able to use high protections right away or will they have to pay again to get back where they were?

single modules will be converted into modules with only single slots to put single protections as said in the vlog

The Vlogsaid all singles and doubles were going away. But will players get vrdit for them?

Personally, I have no problem with buying a Pro-Pass.  I look at it as as "Tanki-tax".  They are not terribly expensive at any rank and can pay for themselves in a few drug free battles (if you assign a crystal value to drugs). I find it very refreshing to play in less than jam-packed-chock-a-block-crowded-dog-eat-dog battles.

One of the main reasons I dislike MM is that all non-pro battles will now all be the same...always full and overcrowded.  Monotonous homogenized indistinguishable battles in every mode all the time.  Tanki will become boring...each non-pro battle just a repetitive grind...exactly the same from day to day.  With a purchased Pro-Pass we can still create and customize battles, earn xp and crystals.  I don't mind paying for that with a small amount of the crystals I get from battles and rewards.  In fact, the mission chain crystal reward at week 5 pretty much pays for a pro-pass...in all ranks above rank 5.  And this Tanki-tax is only once a month.  A minor inconvenience.

XT tank gets merged with normal tank and the upgrade level of the final tank is set to whatever the highest of the two upgrades was. if you combine a 5/20 M3 XT with a 13/20 M3, you get a 13/20 M3 with XT skin. If you had a 20/20 M3 XT and a 0/10 M0, you end up with 20/20 M3 with optional XT skin. If both items are M4, then you end up with just one M4 item with an optional XT skin.

What about those who saved there m0 wasps for parkour and bought wasp xt for BP? its really unfair imo i saved m0 wasp because i wanted to parkour and i spent about 500k Crystals on WASP m3 XT or i could have bought it for 110k crystals on sales

And then i will regret buying m3 XT..

The problem in charging crystals for PRO pass means playable PRO battles are scarce in general. Currently the majority of PRO battles are either parkour, XP/BP, or some 999 minute grindfest. There are very few PRO battles with normal settings. By making PRO pass free, more players would play PRO battles and thus there would be more standard matches on non-battle list maps. Unfortunately, that is clearly not happening and PRO battles are going to remain the cesspool that they are. Tanki has over 70 maps, but with the current state of the game, less than half of those maps are regularly played on.

At this point I agree, but I am betting MM will motivate players to buy pro-passes.  Why not?  Wonderfully, Tanki did away with contiguous mission chains so you can choose to do a mission or not.  If you want to get away from the mindless semi-skilled non-pro forced entry battle MM will constantly create, go for the pro-pass.

When players realize they are not really expensive stretched over a month long period, I'm hoping they will buy and create decent battles...I may be too optimistic.  If this does not happen I foresee a very sharp drop in players by August when the novelty of the new mode wears off and the MM tedium begins...like 15000 players at peak times.

Well what is clear is that a refund is most likely to happen but question how will the battle change from it.

With what i can tell magnum protections will be the first choice followed by rail and smoky/rico.

I hope that the beast thunder once again sets its regime of fear.

Do you know what this reminds me of? No? Then I'll tell you. It reminds me of this scenario:

Four friends...Mikey, JoeBob, Bubba and Snowflake.

Mikey makes up a game. He calls his 3 friends and tells them about it. He says it's a really fun game and invites them all over to play. All 3 friends show up. Mikey explains the game to them. It sounds a little complicated, at first, but all are willing to give it a try. After an hour or so of playing, they decide that the game has potential and isn't as difficult as it seemed. As the weeks go on, the friends find themselves playing more and more often. By Golly!! It is a fun game. As they all play, there's discussions about some of the elements.

One day, as they all gather to play, Mikey tells everyone that the game has changed. He hands everyone a piece of paper that explains the new way it's to be played. The 3 friends ask, "But why?" Mikey tells them that he has taken some of their suggestions to heart and have implemented them. Unfortunately, if one element is changed, others have to be changed, too. Again, it seems a bit complicated, but they all give it a try. Once they get used to the new way to play, it doesn't see all that bad, after all.

After playing for a few months, Mikey announces that he has made some more changes. Now, the friends start complaining. Again, they ask, "But why? It's fun the way it is." Mikey answers, "Because I think it would be more fun this new way. As you can see, I've put some more of your suggestions in there. The game is still the same. The only thing that's changed is the way it's played. It'll be fun. You'll see." They all decide to give it a try. After awhile, they become accustomed to the new rules and it is fun again.

Time goes by and they are all having fun with this game. One evening, they are all gathered around Mikey's table when Mikey walks in with another stack of papers. "Here ya go guys. I've made a few more changes. See what you think." They all look the papers over. Not just one, but several.

Snowflake says, "You have made so many changes to this game, it hardly looks like the original. What gives?"

JoeBob chimes in with "What have you done to my character? I spent a lot of time building him up to level 75 and now you take away all his abilities?"

Mikey counters with "He still has his abilities, I just changed the way he uses them."

Bubba says, "You've done the same to mine and I don't like it. Change it back."

Mikey replies, "Once changes are made, there's no going back. It's my game, I created it and I can do whatever I want with it. If you don't like it, there's the door...and don't let it hit you in the butt on your way out." "Oh, by the way. I understand you have been telling your friends about my new game. Many are quite interested in playing. So, it's okay if you want to vacate your seat. The next one in line will gladly take it." "Thank you all for helping me develop this game into what it is now. I'm sure the new players will have other suggestions, which will be satisfied with more game changes. Actually, truthfully, I'm the one having all the fun. If you want to stay, you are most certainly welcome to. If you decide to stay, you will have to agree with all the changes I make...and there will be changes....lots of them." "Mmmmm. I never knew I had such a creative mind. I'm having a lot of fun. Aren't you?"

Another option is to have multiple module slots. So, for example you buy every individual protection for 50k and can apply them to modules any number of times, but in order to put them into a module you have to buy an empty module slot. The first module slot would cost something like 5000 crystals, but for subsequent module slots the price would grow exponentially, so perhaps 20 000 for second, 70 000 for 3rd, 170 000 - 4th, 600 000 - 5th, 1 900 000 - 6th, and so on. This makes it so that you can buy your first couple modules and protections for them for a relatively low price, but to have more versatility and convenience you'd have to spend a lot more.

If they released this concept, a player would have been able to have 50% against everything(which will never be possible). Revenue for the developers would start growing 100x times faster in the first days after the update but in 4 months the game would die.

Now it Tanki wants to convert all our protections into 14 single modules

That's not what's going to happen. The modules will be converted into single protections. Those protections can be combined in any combination of three protections and be applied to your tank as a triple module.

again wrong on so many levels taking things from our garage and now players who have 4 tear protect will be stripped down to 3 tear

I remember having a discussion about this with another player shortly after the paint separation update. That player noted that 4-protection module owners would always have an advantage over newer players and it's impossible for newer players to even it out. The player said that it's not fair that they only got that advantage because they were lucky enough to play during a certain time. If you look at it like that, is it really that wrong?

There seems to be a lot of argument over a tiny snippet of information . . .

 Does that surprise you?

Or will everyone be reduces to 0% protection on all 14?

Since they spoke of conversion, this isn't going to happen. How the conversion will be executed exactly, we'll find out next week.

And yea, the module update is cool. By the way, can we also add mine protect with others like (Thunder, Railgun , Mine)?

Yes, you can make any number of combinations of three with the 14 protections.

Magnum users after news of custom modules

 200.gif

Players who were asking a magnum nerf and who had little magnum protections.

 Jon-Stewart-Oh-My-God-MRW-Gif.gif

We don't know exactly what the update will bring.

I don't think it will be a reset like that idea in Ideas and Suggestions. But that would be great too. For those that don't know about the reset idea, it is like this:

- All our modules become blank for us to then select any protection we want in those modules.

- Those that have 40 modules would have 40 blank modules to create new 40 modules.

- That system would not require conversions or refunds. But it would be a bit complicated.

The planned system would give us 14 modules to use them to create one triple protection however we want.

- It appears like we will have only one triple protection

- We don't know, at least I, that we can change the individual modules of our protection during battles

- If that's the case we will be stuck with that triple protection for the rest of the battle. If you only have a combo (hull/turret) and many players in a battle are using protection against your turret... maybe leave. Players that have many turrets will have an advantage because they can switch to another turret that will get less resistance.

- If individual modules become expensive as current triple modules, non-buyers will be at a big disadvantage; if the single modules are cheap enough that even non-buyers can afford it, then everyone would potentially have fully MUed modules and the protection system will become less relevant in economic terms.

- Conversion or refund will be complicated and many will be unhappy.

- Let's say AbsoluteZero is the players that has the most triple modules, s/he has about 40 m3+ modules, a fair conversion would be to give her/him 14 M3+ single modules. But what about a players that only has 5 m3+ modules? a fair conversion would be like giving that player 14 M1 or M2 single modules. And those that have no modules would get no modules.

- A refund would be the most fair if we agree that there can only be a 50% refund. And they can refund current single and double modules as well. Could cause imbalance if the new system is has cheaper single modules, but I'm not sure, I havn;t done any math on that.

- But like I said above, the new single modules would have to be cheap to be affordable for non-buyers, because instead of working with 4 or 5 triple modules of today they would now have to work with 14 new single modules. That way buyers can look for advantage elsewhere, not in the protection system.

- It would be a good system too.

But I would like a protection system where we can use 4 single modules of 40% that we can modify even during battles. A bit less effective resistances, but against more turrets.

One thing we may agree on is that a change is needed, or maybe not agree at all.

will product kit prices change?
will they give 3 single modules now?

at 3:24 in video, i think prices and protection percentages are visible on top right of screen.

im not getting a clear picture and my internet is not good to run the video in 1080pixel hd, so can anyone post the table of protection percentages and prices?

I think those are the prices of current single modules. But those could be the prices for the new single modules too, so these can be affordable to non-buyers.

I just hope they don't break our current modules in single modules as a conversion, that would be unfair and leave many unhappy. And many can buy many single modules before the update to take advantage of that.

Not impossible.  One way was to just keep them there to buy in the garage. Another way would have been to convert them into quad modules and sold quads from the beginning and instead of making those modules max upgradable to 50-50-50-50, a simple rule could have been made to make them 30-30-30-30 or even less than that.  The disintergration update was really handled badly existing modules should have been coverted at the time in a fair manner but it wasn't. We know why, it was about money and nobody can really argue differently. And here we are again less than 2 years down the line making yet more changes. Let's hope they learned from the last time and don't make the same mistakes.

So you want them to be just deleted or what? I want my modules to be split into single modules so I get to keep all the protections I had, it's much better than just losing it all

Indeed not impossible if they handled things differently back then, but the update already happened and after that, it was impossible.

So... decisions... should my Captain buy M2 3-protection module now? or wait until they change it drastically?

Same question. History teaches that purchases are usually more expensive AFTER the change, so my amateur advice is to buy now.

If we don't keep our current modules I want a refund in cash. Another ridiculous pile of garbage from tanki.

you will able to equip all the modules you have, and even more combinations, for no extra cost.

the only reason you have to complain (maybe) regarding the modules update is that players who have fewer modules than you may also be able to make all the modules you can construct.

eg.

player 1:(fire, freeze, twins), (fire, thunder, ricochet), (ricochet, twins, isida)

player 2:(fire, freeze, ricochet), (twins, isida, thunder)

player 1. has 3 m4 modules, player 2 has only 2, but after update both will be able to make same combinations.

i don't think they will refund crystals.
