Striker missile changes

Recommended Posts

Currently, you can damage tanks with the Striker's missiles if you just miss them. However, the bullet keeps on going, and no damage indicators appear. This needs changing. I am suggesting that instead of simply damaging the tank, the bullet explodes, and does splash damage to it and any other nearby tanks. This stops the current highly illogical (and annoying) system.

Declined

This isn't meant to happen - it's a visual bug. When you see an enemy Striker's rocket fly next to you, miss you, but still deal damage, it means that the rocket actually hit you directly, but on your screen it appears to have missed. This is caused by lag and unfortunately can't be fixed easily. other turrets have this problem also, but it's most visible with Striker and Railgun.

well some anti tank missles are designed to detonate when they fly close to enemy tanks.. so if they can't fix this they might as well just make it a feature and let the damage indicator show

Damage indicators do appear on the shooter's side, but to the shooter, the player being shot is still in the same position. It's simply how online games work and how they are designed. Let me explain:

While you were moving on your screen, the browser/client started sending information to the server that you are moving, and if your Internet is slow or something causes that information to be delayed, the server will still think you were in that previous position (prior to movement) and will act accordingly, causing you to take damage. You did move on your screen, but in reality, to the person shooting you and the server, you were still in the same spot when he fired.

In my past experience, I'd say it is Magnum which damages you without visually hitting you the most.

The best thing is that in the other game, e.g. World of Tanks (Blitz), game comes with a solution that the high Ping actually harms you - your tank doesn't make an action until the information from the server comes - meaning if you would make a shot, the server waits for the stable connection (around under 90 Ping) and then process the action (same goes for tank's movement - the game even throws your backward to a place where you were before the lag). Lag isn't fair, especially if you are the one experiencing it, but I think this is actually a more fair but less comfortable option Tanki Online could consider themselves (while another problem rises up that Tanki Online doesn't have as many servers).

True, different games deal with lag differently. But I think devs might have to re-work a lot of things if they wanted to fix it. And any solution to this problem will bring up a number of new issues.
