I think it's mainly for simplification, but not because of mobile: today most average phones have a higher display resolution then an average laptop. Modules made sense back when the paints indicated the protections and since those are gone the modules made no more sense from the player point of view.

 

So I do very much like the idea of the protection separation, and I think that it's one of the most useful change for most of the players (if it stays affordable).

 

But I also do see the downsides.

While I assume that owners of a decent garage will face only a very small change of their overall in-battle-power, the remaining in-material loss is still huge for some of them. Especially those players that have spent a LOT (time, money, both) in order to reach something special.. would now feel ripped off. No matter if they knew the EULA or not: knowing that you might loose something, does not reduce much of the impression of a loss when it finally happens.

 

Tanki offers a refund in batteries.. which is actually way more then I'd have expected. Of course they can't give crystals.. this would mean far less monetary income in the next weeks -> especially critical with Tanki birthday and expected sales at the doorstep.

 

But Tanki seems to miss that those batteries are free available items > something non-special.

Therefore the trade feels off for many, as they loose something special and get refunded by something regular.

 

Sorry for that.

Everybody lost crystals because of the redundancy of some protection, some more than others. The more protection you buy the more you lose.

I would be happy with a refund in XT skins :ph34r: .

 

There is an interesting information from Hazel on that V-log 140 where he explains the reason why not creating quad module. And the conclusion is very interesting: Eventually everybody will get 50% resistance and that will break the game process based on the battle lifetime of tanks. To deal with that new problem we would need to add extra damage which means new micro-upgrades, more crystals, … a more P2W system. Modules were created to increase diversity in the game and if we make changes to them it will be to cater for specific roles such as flag catchers, base defence... But such plans are at the very end of a very long queue.

I wonder for how long Tanki had those 140k or 120k numbers... People always seem to look back as it was a normal and constant condition back then, but in general player counts in games are always on the move, either it's growing or declining.

Values will varies depending of the time of the year, Xmas time versus summer time/exams period, and also on specific days where events are set  increasing some interest and breaking record of attendance. In more details week day would be lower than weekend. So we need to take this into account.

 

Here is an example for 2014: range from 80k to 135k

During this year the company used to run advertisements for the game via various channels.

Yeah, I was also wondering, if he reached the end of a very, very long queue..

..or if he simply rescheduled :P

 

For quad modules -> with the new protection system I would allow tripple as well as quad modules.

But while a tripple module just plugs in your individual protections, the use of a quad module would reduce each of the plugged protections (single protection value in quad module = original single protection value  x  0,6).

 

So

  • So if your single protections would be 50%,50%,50% and 50%

    => you can choose between equipping

    • tripple [50%, 50%, 50%]
    • or quad [30%,30%,30%,30%]
  • or if all your single protections would be 50% 40% 35% and 20%

    => you can choose between equipping

    • tripple [50%,40%,35%]
    • or quad [30%, 24%, 21% and 12%]

      (as 50%x0.6=30%; 40%x0.6=24%, ...)

 

(but anyways I am a fan of lower protection ratings. Those should not render turrets useless.. but only less effective IMHO. and fighting vs a 35% is almost useless, as you die, and die, and die. Somewhere the struggle for diversity turns into boringness too)

I know these good old days. tanki player drop simply because many unwise update.

 

As a player who play over 6 years, I think most of new player won't able to get use to some update because they will think it is unfair

 


But I really don't know what drive many player quit tanki. I think only match making is the worst update and all other update before is not too bad. Maybe preminum account?

Why does everyone hate on premium account? It no longer gives you any advantages in battle.

4 empty Modules where you can load any protection for free, with up to 40% protection each. If you own all 4, you use all 4 in battles.

no one would buy m0 if it gives 0% protection... and if m0 cost 1k, m1 cost 10k, m2 cost 100k, m3 cost 1 million... then m4 would cost 10 million  to upgrade on top of the 1 million to buy it, so it's 11 million... so 4 modules makes the total 44 million... NO THANK YOU

4 empty Modules where you can load any protection for free, with up to 40% protection each. If you own all 4, you use all 4 in battles.

You could also buy directly a Spectrum module with 25% protection on all the turrets for 100 crystals* - that would be awesome.

I analysis the V-log by watching it few times and it has few draw backs. 

 

If you remove legacy modules, you're removing a permanent reward that has been offered to the e-sport legends.

 

If you consider drone as a supply which needs battery to use them. It feels me like we need to buy a supply (battery) to enable this supply (drone) to give us a power function of 1 supply (heath or damage).

 

If you release only 3 of them out of 12 It leave us with less choice to select. release them in all at once. Why ?

 

 

If it comes to garage, people would buy any 1 of this and I've to wait until all 12 comes to garage which takes a month or 2 to save crystals. 

Forgotten ? Drones can be upgraded. So, at my Rank they might be cost like 100k at the cost of modules.

 

So, you say, Worth of buying it now or wait to get more choices ? 

 

 

 

So, Drones has modifications. you going to give me batteries in trade of 100k worth of modules ?? Yea sure.. Everyone is ready to accept it..

I got like 2-3 modules... I wonder why this update is touching my savings...

 

I wann say that,

 

Give back my 100k crystal or release the drone update later while and work with juggernaut update. Release then at 1 go.

I have not read all the comments so sorry if this has been mentioned before.

 

The new basic game mode will be 8x8. We all know certain turrets are much more popular than other turrets. In any 8-tank team it is quite liely there will be 2 or 3 of a popular turret. It s quite lielyr there will be a coupe of another popular turret. Start counting the fingers.  If there are two Twins, two Ricos and two Isidas on a team that accounts for 75% of the tanks on that team.

Now let's look at the new module system. Every single tank on the enemy team can equip Rico, Twins, and iseda protections.  One team will have protections up against 75% of the enemy. But what if 4-way modules were still allowed?  That would allow this example team to protect agsainst 7 of the 8 enemy tanks that game. 

 

The point here is 3-way configurable modules will be vastly more effective in practical terms than the collection of 3 and 4-way pre-set modules.  Allowing a 4th configurable modules would be overkill.  Just because 4-way pre-set modules were once allowed that is not sufficient reason t allow 4-way configurable modules. And in the context of 8v8 battles the 4-way modules are jujst to much.

 

Take a step back and look what the devs are doing. Today's protection system is a mess.  It takes massive investments to buy a collection of pre-set modules in order to get good battle flexibility. But if you do not have 50% protection or close to that, you are meat. 50% is like having a DA up all the time against 3 turret types.

 

So what the devs did is ensure everyone will have the best protection they can afford, every battle, agsinst the 3 most important / problematic enemies.  In other words, the protection module aspect of the game will become more of a level playing field for everyone. It is a bit of a mess. But instead of eliminating the mess they ave reduced it's significance. Like turret alterations, once you buy the capability you are done investing in it.

 

Instead we will have a new system to drive garage competition: drones.  As for what to expect frm that we have much yet to see. But that is the new arena for garage development.

I hope that was for the sake of the test server and won't be in-game. Would be a little unfair to those who worked hard in tournaments and such.
