game balance conspiracy

so i have this conspiracy theory that game balance is just a big lie..

mods and devs keep using game balance as an explanation for a lot of things... like why railgun needed to be nerfed... why twins needed to have splash... why hammer needed to have it's range reduced... why drugs had to be nerfed...

but later they introduced alterations that gave back those turrets their old stats and now we got drones that are gonna make drugs more powerful again...

... and game balance doesn't apply anymore??

The point of making up this crap is to justify why something has to be nerfed... so they can make people pay to have it back later on.

I get that this game needs money... I get that this game needs buyers so people can play it for free..

but do they have to lie about this game balance crap? they need money just say they need to do this so they can get money. don't treat us like fools, just say it outright so we can all know what's going on and you'll have less explaning (lying) to do and we got less exposing to do. you also get to keep your creditability. everyone saves time like this.

If devs wanted to balance the game, they would give 7 seconds of damage to Isida (or even 10 like Riddler said), they would nerf the splash damage to 50% or less because splash turrets ruin the gameplay. Special attention should be paid to Magnum. Noob Magnums are easy to kill but pro magnums are ridiculously OP. 2-rocket salvo on Striker would be also useful. That turret needs complete rebalance.

I suppose the developers are using this game to get money to also support Tanki X

The company cannot support two games easily. That's the case with Tanki 2.0 which got cancelled and the resources from that side proyect were going to be added into Tanki Online. Another fact is that Alternativa used to have an online soldier game that got closed as far as I know near 2015. Now they got Tanki X and since then the game has been the game that we see right now.

Adri, do you remember the name of this game?

The CEO of Tanki is working in parallel on the development of a free-2-play online tactical shooter: Battlewind.

To be honest, I found the Twins and Railgun thing quite annoying also. Railgun is OK, I actually like the fact that they reduced damage and reload time as it allows you to hit more targets (i.e. one missed shot has less impact on your overall performance). But with twins it's worse.

 

Everyone realises that Twins without either of the two alterations is bad. The splash damage has tiny range and rarely actually helps deal damage to multiple enemies, while the self-damage drawback from it is massive. Increasing the projectile speed is a huge bonus on large maps (like Kungur), while removing self-damage is great on smaller maps with a more dense concentration of enemies (like Polygon).

 

Besides, Hazel actually said in a video at one point something like "It's balanced because if you equip one of the alterations it means you can't equip the other alteration". And I don't think he realised it, but it basically implies that he expects everyone to buy and use at least one of the alterations because he knows that Twins is significantly weaker without alterations. And it frustrates me that they did it like that.

True, true...

No one can say false, even moderators agree, they can't be protective because they know that tanki actually wants money, tanki just doesn't assume it.

I like conspiracies, it makes life more lively, more spicy. I'm not Merovingian for nothing. You are looking for an ideal, a world where money will mean nothing...you are looking for an utopia.

 

To me there is no game balance - it's a marketing stunt or a magic word - there are only opportunities and skills. Game balance is a smoke screen and a scapegoat. You create your own limitation and reject your failure because... it's easier, it's natural. I play the game and look at the mechanics, find the flaws and the strengths, then I leverage that knowledge. I'm good enough not to worry about minutes stuff like crystals. I do the missions they are easy wins - you don't do them, fine. 

 

I play for fun, Tanki provides me with fun and occupation - and new friends to talk with. It provides me with new challenges. One day I win - one I lose.

But it is balanced, if you play smart and even if you don't buy

Four Mags on one team....you call that balanced? 

 

Isida trains of three or more are balanced?

 

All the supplies of OD suddenly activated without the blue dome is balanced?

 

Taking about OD....the winning team's OD energizes faster than that of the losing team. You call that balanced?

 

I used to be able to kill a Wasp with my M1 Vulcan. Now, the Wasp kills my M1 Viking and the Wasp sashays away. What's wrong with this picture?

 

The opposing team was respawn killing us. I respawned in the same place 5 times in a row. Other times, I've respawned in the same spot 3 consecutive times. I suggested that the respawning be more random. I was told...It is random...and the suggestion was declined.

1. I always target magnums first, even if there is a better target.

3. Wasp cannot kill any hull as it is a hull itself and does no damage. Light hulls requires a ton of work to make them worth over medium hulls unfortunately, but they are fun.

 

4. Spawn killing is a probly in most game unfortuately. I somewhat wish there was a safe spawn area that would allow teams to spawn in without dying instantly but this may not be possible.

There are two primary balances in this game.

 

BATTLE balance, which is out of whack due to Magnum.

 

ECONOMY balance, which IMO favors free players more then ever right now. This is probably why refunds aren’t considered feasible right now. Crystals are pretty easy to come by, even for casual players.

 

There is also the crystal to experience balance. IMO this is way out of whack. It takes far too much grind to rank up once you get past the Lieutenant ranks.

Yes, on another account. All of my accounts specializes in different hull/turret combos. Some have a major and a minor. This one is Vulcan/Titan (major) and Firebird/Viking (minor).

Speaking of "viking"... that's another one.  They switched stats of Hunter and Viking because.... "balance".  :P :D :lol: .

 

Or to re-phrase... "balance" = "If you really liked the way Viking performed, we now want you to spend extra crystals on another medium hull you really don't need in order to get same performance you had before".

loll i wasn't here when they did that,, did they really say the switched the stats because of "balance"? alson were the unlock ranks also the same at the time like they are now?

it was like pulling teeth to get any explanation for that change - and what they said made no sense at all.

 

Can't recall on unlock ranks - I think same as of now, but I'm not 100% sure.

I wanna say it was the same change. They swapped stats and made all the M3 equipment unlock at the same rank.

 

But the recent handling change to make Hunter playable on mobile is god awful when you’re playing on a PC.
