New Maps

Tanki should hold a new map making contest. Because there is an amazing map maker called "Adriel RB" and he makes awesome maps. He missed out on the chance to be a map maker, and so did I. Possibly even others. So I think there should be another map making event contest to make maps for Tanki.

Hazel did mention in a recent livestream that he was interested in the idea of a mapmaker contest. But he also said they won't be happening anytime soon, the game has 70+ maps which is more than enough, there are other priorities.

yeah, they ended it in 2012 didn't they? I started Tanki in 2012 and still play to this day  :)

Yeah, I think I heard him talk about that or say something like that. Also, how long does it take for staff applications to be checked? Because I sent one yesterday or the day before for chat mod.

If everyone can create maps for the game (all the time, not a one time chance for a contest under time pressure) then tanki would have a nice source of free potential maps to add to the game, without having to spend time creating new maps, except maybe tweaking the maps of their choice a little.

 

If they won't like any of the player made maps they can just reject everything, they can only gain from this and have nothing to lose.

But the amount of maps going in could be too much and not have time to review them. So they could end up missing some really good ones. Maybe like a few times every week they could check out the maps.

We did had some map making contest before in 2013 when new props were introduced. I believe all the winners were Russian but I am not sure.

 

There were also some weird maps at that time in the test server due to testing of new props in 2013. So they were developing new maps.

I was playing with AlternativaEditor, or how-so called, a year back.. but I stopped and deleted it all.

I created some small and ugly maps.. but on the other side, I worked a bit more on xml files.

I think maybe we should just get down to one map and one game.

 

Everyone plays the same game at the same time on the same map.

 

It appears to be heading that direction.

Yeah, probably a uniform underpowered tank aswell but consumables that change characteristics completely.

Match Making isn't bad. I know I made a video about it. But I left a forum post that the mods can look at to change it, to make match making more fun. Like make groups up to 6, and have "Small", "Medium" and "Large" as a button when you click play, so you can chose what map to play so joining battles can be faster.
