Paint Types

Certain paints lose value over time. For example, Eternity used to be extremely rare, but now that it is available in containers, it is not as valuable as it used to be. For this reason, I propose to add categories to paints, that detail how the paint was obtained:

  • Standard: garage paints purchasable for crystals
  • Purchased: standard Shop paints obtained through the Shop (not through containers)
  • Container: paints obtained through containers
  • Reward: paints obtained through contests, such as Masters of Parkour paints, the EN WAR animated paint, rewards from giveaways
  • Exclusive: paints that were only obtainable during an event or a short time, such as the Spring Showdown Paints, Clan Championship X paints, the original Red Suit, Eternity, and Moonwalker, paints available in one-time Shop bundles, etc
  • Helper: self-explanatory, helper / tester / spectator paints

With this sort of system, if you had a rare paint that lost some of its "value" through the introduction of containers or giveaways, you will still at least have a record that you obtained that paint originally in your garage and on your profile. For example, standard paints will have an icon with a normal, green border, and the standard garage description, but an exclusive paint will have, say, a blue border and a description noting how it was obtained.

Valid

It makes sense in terms of allowing players to feel good by having exclusive items, but it's a bad business decision. Why limit yourself to selling a new cosmetic just for a few days when you can later add it as a rare container drop or with a cheaper price, or as a free reward for a big challenge? New paints and other cosmetics lose their novelty very quickly, so I think it's fine to make them more publicly some time later, after the "buyers" already got bored of showing off their newly purchased stuff.

I don't think "exclusive" items in tanki have much value anyway. They're not particularly flashy, unique or beautiful. All they do is show that you are an old player who has been in the game when that thing was being sold. For that there can be a much simpler feature, such as a particular background on the rank icon (like Premium), which is different depending on year of registration.

That would be cool! Also, how do you find the date your account was created? Is there a way?

sounds like a nice idea. One of my favorite paints still probably was back in 2012 or 2013 when they had the pumpkin paint. The map was a castle like map.

Like cmon' it's just a paint, it's not much of a deal it won't really affect anything by obtaining it.

No. It's one of the security questions, so you have to remember it.

I used this acc then trashed it then used it again -_-

If I get hacked does that mean I can't do anything about it? :(

@Maf It looks like this idea has been implemented. Most paints now have a rarity.

To some extent yes, but it didn't really achieve the goal you were aiming for, which is to emphasise the exclusivity of some limited edition paints. I supposed I can still mark it completed if you want me to.

As now we have about 500+ paints in the game, and I think everyone had an epic and amazing paint(look at my 4th paint).. the paints lost their value, I don't focus in the paint of anyone.. I think it's firstly the developer's wrong, because they implemented 500+ paints.

Paint collections would be more interesting, I think (planet-paints, animal-paints, mineral-paints, etc.). Like if you collect all paints from one collection the game gives you another but exclusive paint/shot effect/skin or special achievement.

I think special paints (such as those issued to game developers, administrators, community managers, moderators, helpers, contest winners/tournament winners, as well as Red Suit, Moonwalker, and OG Eternity (Not the clan championship paint lol), and others which I haven't mentioned because I don't know about them) should have some sort of special "effect" when the player wears the paint.

For example, like a glowing aura around the tank when one of those paints are worn. Granted, it would give your location away to enemies.....but at least they'll know they're battling alongside someone prestigious in the game.
