Back to modules for a sec - I’ve watched what players are using in MM battles and have concluded that only a handful of protections are actually needed.

Magnum - duh

Isida

Railgun

These three are what you equip going into any battle. Depending on what you find you will sometimes swap some slots out for:

Thunder

Twins

Ricochet

The remaining turrets have become underused and no longer warrant the investment in purchasing or MUing protection.

I can only confirm it, I'm entering games either with magnum or rail protecting module, and I have no idea which one to keep/change, both annoy me. I think it's good idea to buy protection from fire and hammer. Then, all remaining (freeze, vulcan, smoky, striker, shaft) are annoying, but that's only in groups, or players who like them, and usually know how to play them + drug. Well, smoky can be annoying, but not so dangerous. Striker is not so annoying, I don't remember being hit by a salvo, however on DD it's basically like second hammer, but with a fixed and fast reload, vulcan and freeze mostly come as (defenders in) groups.

True that, now as I look at it, I'd probably just get striker protection for self damage when I use striker, and maybe freeze one. Always take rail magnum, and probably shaft, or thunder, and change few minutes later, to whatever I need.

For that reason and because I think modules won't be broken up into new single modules, I'll not be upgrading or buying modules, not even single modules.

They have explicitly said the new system will be based on mixing any three of the 14 single modules. So I cannot fathom what you mean about existing modules not being broken up.  They will cease to exist.

Yes, that is the only variable that we really have no grounds to predict! A more expensive system would make more sense to me also - if they were the same price as current triple modules they seem too accessible.

The system should be more expensive than the single module upgrade costs of today.  Just as double modules cost more than 2x a single and just as triple modules cost more than 3x the singles. There is value in flexibility. So i expect the new single upgrade cost to be about the cost of upgrading a triple module today, divided by three then adjusted back up a bit.  So call it about double the cost of today's single modules.

Yes this means that it will not take too terribly long for all player to have max protections on all 14 damage types.  Yes, that means the news system will not absorb as many Cry before it is maxed out.  Legends and other high ranks will start mnaxed out or close to it.  That is another reason the new Drones system is being introduced. It is the future for garage investment.

You are right, what we are taking about is how the conversion may be. Will our modules be broken up into the new single modules? meaning if have one M3 triple module you'll get 3 M3 single modules, and like some are saying, or in a different way.

They have said this is the case.

Yes, that's what some mods and Nives have said, but the V-Logs don't say that, or at least it's not clear to me.
