public poll between developers before passing the updates

Recommended Posts

would get us mentally closer to the dev community and add some transparency :)

also the could explain their point of why they do it in a way that players will have no way of disagreeing

part of the community ideas

Please explain this in more detail. Who participates in the poll? The players or the developers? If you want developers to do a poll where they ask whether or not they should implement something, then it won't happen because developers already know how many players will be in favour or against an update. If they were to do a poll and the results of such a poll would be heavily negative, the update would still be released because it's necessary. For example, Matchmaking, the "Battle!" button, removal of missions from PRO - all these updates got a lot of negative feedback, but they are necessary to keep the game alive.

If you mean something else, then please clarify.

I understand your reasoning. But the developers own this game, they can change it in anyway they see fit without needing permission from the players. Yes, I know how that sounds. It sounds like the developers don't care about the game/the players etc. But they have their reasoning behind every update and every change. They wouldn't mess up the game, they won't kill the game, because the game pays their salaries. They also don't need to explain their reasoning, because some of their reasons won't make sense to players, or more importantly, again, they don't have to explain it.

I meant a public poll that happens between the developers about wether they support the update or not

WHAT PART OF MATCHMAKING KEEPS THE GAME ALIVE? IT KILLS THE GAME

Matchmaking is a quick way for newbies to focus on learning the game rather than the lobby

That's not a good idea. Obviously none of the developers or other employees won't publicly admit that they disagree with a particular update, since them disagreeing with the company's collective decisions and showing it publicly will put the company in a bad light, and instead of helping players understand devs' logic, it would only make it seem like the company is disorganised and chaotic, which is never a good thing.

We already get devs' explanations for why they release updates in V-logs, and occasionally there's longer explanations in standalone videos, like the upcoming video from Hazel-Rah, which will explain in detail everything about drones.

Are you sure about that?

I am sure. To keep the game alive developers mostly need the following four things:

  • Constantly make changes and introduce new features to keep current players interested
  • Adapt the game to the changing game industry and audience. Make it more appealing for new players.
  • Keep adding ways to generate a constant inflow of revenue to fund the servers, maintenance, employees, etc.
  • Make the game more pleasant for players by implementing occasional QOL (quality of life) updates.

There needs to be a balance of all four things in order to have a successful project. They can't keep adding updates that only aim to keep the old players in the game, because then no new players will come and old players will eventually stop buying things (since they will have everything there is to buy). They can't only attract new players either, since in order for new players to stay, there needs to be enough existing players to provide them with competition, and enough new features to keep them interested. And of course they can't do only updates meant for bringing revenue, since players will quickly lose interest.

This is why players dislike some updates. Things like Matchmaking are necessary to adapt the game for a new audience, while things like Drones, Modules and Overdrives add variety and keep players interested. You may not realise this, but the game actually loses more players if they leave everything as is for a long time and not update anything, compared to when they release updates and get a lot of negative feedback.

I am finally seeing a administrator/moderator that makes sense. Your talking really proves you are worth your position and even a higher one, possibly, in the future.  I would like to say that i find all of them as great ideas, however this is just like a baloon that keeps constantly losing air (players). You need to advertise the game further via google, its the only way to make it famous again. But first make sure to get the player's opinions about some minor things (I would say newbie polls would be great to see what they want)

Let us not forget that this game is a community based esport game were the main model is actually getting players to try become star clan players and this has already worked once in the past. And this is why i ask you to prevent any attempts to lose either community or the esport feeling to the expense of the other, the game took this route in 2012 and it's late to back down.

Thanks for your comment, it made a lot of sense :)

I'm not sure about that. Maybe a few years ago that was one of the main goals, but nowadays Tanki is just a casual game for those who want to mindlessly shoot some tanks for 30 minutes when they come back from work/school. eSports is still there, but rather than being the main end goal of the game it's currently more of a side option for those who have tried everything and bought everything and have nothing left to do in the game. But developers did say multiple times that they aim to eventually, for lack of better wording, "make eSports great again" :P

I get that devs need to make updates to get new players in, to keep old players, to get money. I was always with every single update, never against any. I like changes, i really do. I'd also do more and more changes. But i don't like MMS at all. I have never ever seen such a negative feedback against an update not in chat nor forums. Also, many people left the game. Why devs still keep that update? Can someone explain me, please?

Interesting thing, whenever i ask a question about MM and it's release and all that, i never get an answer. PM-ed Nives, no answer. Gave an idea, nothing yet, and now i see that already 10 Explosion's topics were seen (nothing personal or offense intended, just an example..). Nothing. Asked here, no answer. Now I will get answer, we dont have time. How could you discuss yesterday and today before in this topic?

I think it's because MM is just such a massive change to the way we play, so it's hard to adapt to. Also, the fact that the update was glitched and almost completely broken at first only made matters worse. It should be fine once devs fix all the issues and players get used to it.

Ye, but what got better with Matchmaking? What was so critical that it needed MM?

Don't you see that players are leaving? Do you think that if someone will be forced to play with several ranks higher tankers, they will be happy? If not now, then later? To change weapon everytime they enter battle? To wait several minutes, just like me?

I am not angry on you, Maf, but on devs that let this happens. Players are leaving. Doesn't Nives see 108 forum pages on topic "Matchmaking is coming on May 29th". It should be called "Say goodbye to our fellow tankers".

I know this is off topic, but only here i got an answer.

I do agree 100% on changes needed to keep people coming .

New modes are a way ... RGB is very interesting , and the supertank ... oh yeah everybody wants to try that 1 . Things like that , and new weapons , yes , it may attract new people or keep it interesting .

MM sucks and you lose the people you got now and i do not see how you attract new people with it .

As for revenue ... sales are imho bad for revenue , since all sales are known and know more or less what to expect  . If you make the sales like 30% off max people think more like , i want to do now , and the 30% is good but i not wait for it .

Containers , people like it , i like it , but if you say that drugs are your main income ... why put so many inside . Same for premium btw ....

10m battles allthough i do not like , when adapting for mobile use , i do understand .

Maybe the developers need to ask the players , not thinkers ... real players .

So around 2014 and 2015 is where they lost a lot of players, because of lack of updates. Entering 2016 to now, and the game is still losing players but at a much slower rate now, and it is because of continuous updates.

No one left the game because of the matchmaking system, we basically have more players online than ever the past 1 year as an average

Exactly. I want to mindlessly SHOOT, not to mindlessly press number keys like a noob buyer.

Do you really look at this graph 4 days after MM? It shows 14 years, how on earth could you see 4 days.

After all go to topic "Matchmaking is coming May 29th", read feedbacks, there are a lot: I leave the game and so.

Tanki officials became so greedy. They can't hear it due to their hunger - you say something and they bite you.

This game is now a "Pay to Win" game.

nobody cares what people (players) wants.

this is now a "pay to win" game and the only thing tanki developers care about is how to make easy money.

Buyers are not noobs, they are the best players. Also they support the game.
