Drones, Batteries and Modules Update

Take every module.  Add purchase cost and MU cost.  Divide this number by the number of protections in that module. This is the cost of each single module* created from the original one.

Take all these single mods and find the highest percentage for each turret and mines.  Those are the permanent keepers.

Take every remaining module that did not make it as a 'keeper'. Concert them one by one to batteries by the following formula:

Batteries = 2 ^ [ log (module cost*) ]

The lowliest m0 module with mu 0/5 would be worth 2^3= 8 Batteries ... a 2400 Cry value for 1000 Cry; very generous

The highest m3 15/15 triple module would return about 125 Batteries ... a 37.5k value for 700k spent.  Not much of a deal but something. Someone converting several modules would still end up with over a thousand

LGY modules have variable protections so they'd have to be divided a bit differently.  The basic equation shown can be tweaked to target the results as desired.

I just wanted to make the point that it'd be easy to craft a payback equasion that gave everyone at least a token payback but did not swamp the big buyers with so many batteries they'd never have to buy another. But that'd have taken 20 minutes or so and another 10 to cross check it. I spent that time typing and killing typos.

====edit====

Batteries = 4 ^ [ log(module cost*) -2 ] is nicer.

Lowest cost (1k) single m0 module => 4 Batteries = 1200 Cry

Highest cost (700k) m3 20/20 triple module => 320 batteries = just under 100k Cry

there is no choice

Well of course I know TO will not suddenly hand out batteries because of a few posts.

t does not affect me much. I am a "winner" in the conversion.  I had some redundancy but did not expect to get more than a couple - few hundred batteries. That's a fleeting thing.

Going forward the buyers will have the 20/20 gear. But I will have enough to afford the 15/20 gear to blunt their advantage down into the noise level. I got noting to worry about.

Just taking the opportunity here while waiting a ridiculously long time to get into a battle to let you know what a MISERABLE experience this game has become due to matchmaking.

On the wiki, I see that you pretty much dismissed all the criticisms, don't give your customer's opinions any credence, and now you've actually removed the thousands of comments on the forum related to the new matchmaking.

I'm from the U.S., home of capitalism, where The customer is always right  and where the economy actually works because the providers of goods and services (YOU) listen to what customers (US) want to improve their products.

Oh, PS the lag on the servers at the moment is horrible, and made the game I finally got into unplayable.

So here I am with nothing to do but continue to provide you with the feedback you are evidently determined to ignore.

Have a great day!  :)

We can hope that the other 9 Drones are much more helpful than the current 3 in the game. These are just slight improvements to ones stats and does not make the game any more diverse. (Except maybe the healing drone that acts as an isida sort of)

Come on man! Only buyers (like me lol) can use drones on a daily basis, don't ask the devs to buff them! Nobody wants to see regular battles become worse (although the MM is better now) because of one-sided battles.

We hope you will like the new mechanics, since we haven’t seen anything like it in TO before! As always, we welcome you to post thoughts on the new update in this topic.

           as per the update that took place this morning, batteries are now being displayed in players profile page. Unfortunately, gifts are not displayed anymore. I had + 600 Teddy Bears at my profile, + 900 badges and many others gifts. I loved every single gift I had from my friends and my fans, people spent crystals and real money on them so is not really quite fair for them to be lost. Only the last 100 ones are displayed in garage also, I need you to have a serious look into this, there are dozens of crystals and money gone in this moment from all players profiles.

Let's us not talk about all the players whom had the overall old module value below the value of the new module system. Let's not say that they had a pretty good bargain with this update.

Players with a weak module protection system benefited hugely from this update. However the new single flexible modules are expensive, so their gain against strong players is still limited. They will still have to spend many crystals in the future to catch up with other players who had many modules to start with. So good bargain but still a long way to full protection.

The players with many modules don't have now to spend that much money anymore to complete the full set of protection, therefore they keep their advantage 1/ by a wider module combining and 2/ by using these spare crystals to other use such as turrets and hulls MUing.

The power play/balance/investment is preserved, in some case it is better in some case it is less, but it is marginal as overall the hierarchy remains.

The magic conversion formula your are suggesting to make everyone happy is an utopia, whatever solution you come up with will never satisfy anybody -  players still have the mindset about complaining (not all of them ofc).

IDK if my modules have less strength or it's the tanker's sudden

higher powered weapons, but it's more like I have no clothes on my tank at all and I'm constantly being killed.   My death rate has sky-rocketted :(

Check your applied protections.  See if they are still activated.  last night my Alterations turned themselves off.  had to activate again.

...

Most young players like you do not have the attention span to wait out a 9 month period with no development options.

...

You're so sweet that you made me smile.  :)

Partially you are right. I won't spend 9 months to "develop" something in Tanki because I have better things to do in life. I "jump" in Tanki to have fun few minutes with my friends in the evening in my so short free time. (BTW, if you like the MMS probably you don't have too many friends in this game.) To take too seriously a video game and planning few months ahead I don't know what in that game I think it's stupid. Or you have too much free time because you are young. And here we come to where you were wrong. I'm not young anymore. In fact I'm sure I'm much older than you are.

You are very funny being so serious and so deeply involved in the technical details of a crap which you try to make it more "digestible" for you.

Your feedback about this update is like massaging a wooden leg because this crap will remain a crap, a horrible update, even the devs will listen to you. But I have a feeling that no one in Perm give a...duck on what you say here.

Maybe I am wrong, who knows. Announce me when the devs will start fixing the problems with your accounts. I'm sure your feedback is already on their desks and they are very concerned by what you said.

I wish the devs will make your dreams come true and will make you happy. Honestly!

Stay tuned!

Save your batteries, they'll likely give compensations for them when they remove Drones. Drones are so bad they'll have to remove them sooner or later.

Dream on Issimo, Pony Tail Boy and the Dev's never pull back an update no matter how bad it is. Plus they've invested too much in telling us how great these drones are so I don't see any pull back of them. The closest thing you may have to a pull back is what has recently taken place with modifying the protection / paint split update. They have disguised that modification by introducing the new protection module scheme telling us that they've had an epiphany and so are introducing a better system of protections. They fail to admit, however, that a number of players suggested pretty much the same system when the protection / paint split took place.  So I'm happy to see that change finally take place, even though Pony Tail Boy and the Dev's take credit for other people's ideas. It is a much better system of protections for the game. So hopefully they'll someday read your posts on drones and take credit for your ideas too when they modify them.

Sounds very on the point.

But maybe, players like you and me are not the target group of the drone/battery system.

IMHO I believe that drones are very useful for players that buy batteries by money, equip their favourite drone of choice and enjoy the higher power without needing to think about when to activate which drug.

The way it is implemented now it looks like a feature

- where you pay for convenience and power

- but that you can only keep powered up by money

And exactly this makes me think why they refunded exceeding protections by adding batteries to the players accounts.

Non-buyers can not keep that up-and-running; and buyers do not need to be given thousands of batteries.. they would try to buy them anyways.

On the other hand.. what else can you refund to a buyer, that owns already sooo many protections that his garage was exceeding the new protection prices? There is not much left, except batteries and supplies..

I agree with everything you said. Regarding the buyers I think it's pretty irrevelant if you get thousands of batteries as they are consumed in a couple of hours anyway.

I have removed all protections from all the slots. However, there is no single zero module like before.

What was zero module? it was a module which didn't protect you from anything.

If you remove all modules from the slots , you won't be protected from any turret so isn't it a zero module?

Hmmm.. maybe.

I don't know how much batteries the average buyer received; AbsoluteZero received about 70k of them.

70k last for aprox. 1100 hours, which is about 1..2 years of gameplay (if the entire time is spend in battles that allow drones.. even longer if not).

[stopped reading; you clearly do not understand]

Stay tuned!

I congratulate you on your special nature.  However your play time is besides the point. This is the point.

Online games are designed to constantly re-new or retain a player's interest.  One way of doing this is to provide an advancement ladder so the position can grow in capability over time. In TO this is what Ranks and m-levels are for.

TO has now set up a situation in which a player has to earn many many months worth of experience before they se any advancement in their game position.  This is something of concern to game designers bacause... you got it ... such a long period of stagnation can lead to lower player retention

I pointed that out. You chose to make that observation into a holier-than-thou moment.  Bully for you.

Tune in turn on drop out.

I congratulate you on your special nature.

Tune in turn on drop out.

I'm impressed how many things you know, just like a big man.

To repeat what the devs said doesn't make you more interesting, because what they say and what they do have nothing in common. And you are an excited supporter of this nonsense. The ideas behind some of the updates in the last years were good, but the implementation and the real scope of these updates makes me think that the devs are just greedy amateurs. And you are so happy to bring your contribution to something bad for the game.

As I said, tell me when your precious feedback here about these wonderful updates which will bring more players in the game and will keep the interest alive for this game (in your vision) will be taken in consideration by the devs.

I hope I won't be too old when this will happen and I will can enjoy in game by your positive feedback today.
