Free Speech rule reform

Recommended Posts

A very important part of a successful game, is a successful chat.

those are some rules that must be removed or reworked

1.1. Contain bad or strong language, insults/provocations for insult (in the form of words, abbreviations, expressions or phrases); (Provocation should not be a bannable offense.)

1.4. Contain political solicitation, propaganda, political advertising of any kind; (talking in a simple manner about politics should be fine)

1.9. Contain information about methods for committing suicide, incitements to commit suicide, violence, or other actions that pose a threat to life or health; (If someone is suicidal and asks an ingame friend for help which is quite common should not be sentenced to a ban)

1.12. Contain criticism of the Game, the Administration or moderators;

(Criticism against administrators and moderators should be fine, however criticism of the game is a problem.)

2.4.5. Discussion of present-day political issues that can provoke conflict in any way; (Should be removed completely, debate is a part of life and would just pin players in the game)

2.4.6. Threats in any form related to Users, Administration or third persons; (I will report you, is a threat, however it does not go against the rules. It must not be reformed as of meaning but as of phrasing)

Religion should be completely freely talked about as well.

6.2. These Game Rules may be changed by the Administration without any prior notice. The User is obliged to check these Game Rules for changes at least once every seven days (i.e weekly). If such a check is not made within the specified period and the User continues to use the Game, the User is considered to have read and agreed with the amended version of these Game Rules.<-- There should be a notice as an eula update

Again, before the game takes a step forward in order to succeed and remain successful it needs a chatroom ready to accept talkative people that are here to make friends and talk about their opinions. No one left the game because of another player promoting something he opposes, on the counter he stayed even more in it.

Declined

These rules exist for a reason, and they were composed by experienced people and lawyers, who have a lot of knowledge about the nature of online chats and the kind of conflicts that happen in them. The rules are there to prevent conflicts and to keep the chat a friendly and pleasant place of communication, so everyone can enjoy.

Please allow me to clear some misconceptions you seem to have about these rules.

Warning, huge wall of text below :)

1.1. Contain bad or strong language, insults/provocations for insult (in the form of words, abbreviations, expressions or phrases); (Provocation should not be a bannable offense.)

Here, it says "provocation for insult", meaning if someone is specifically provoking other users into swearing, which may cause them to be banned (while the player provoking may not be breaking other rules, keeping him safe and causing the other player to be banned). Provocation is ban-able because it promotes arguing and conflict, and these are not recipes for a successful chat.

1.4. Contain political solicitation, propaganda, political advertising of any kind; (talking in a simple manner about politics should be fine)

Talking in a simple manner about politics is okay. This rule is about advertising politics for personal gain, or spreading false information or intentionally misleading information for a political cause (propaganda).

1.9. Contain information about methods for committing suicide, incitements to commit suicide, violence, or other actions that pose a threat to life or health; (If someone is suicidal and asks an ingame friend for help which is quite common should not be sentenced to a ban)

This rule is prevents people from suggesting methods to commit suicide or other acts of violence. It's not about someone asking for help about suicide from a friend. Moreover, asking help from online people is not a valid way to seek help, people who are considering suicide should contact a psychiatrist immediately.

1.12. Contain criticism of the Game, the Administration or moderators;

(Criticism against administrators and moderators should be fine, however criticism of the game is a problem.)

Criticism of moderator/administrator actions is fine, but it is not allowed in public. If you have a complain regarding a moderator it should be sent to the respective administrator of that moderator in PRIVATE messages. Complains against admins should be reported to the community anger, also in private messages.

1.12. Contain criticism of the Game, the Administration or moderators;

(Criticism against administrators and moderators should be fine, however criticism of the game is a problem.)

Same as the above answer. Constructive criticism of the game is allowed, even encouraged. That's how games develop, but, the keyword here is constructive criticism.

2.4.5. Discussion of present-day political issues that can provoke conflict in any way; (Should be removed completely, debate is a part of life and would just pin players in the game)

If you are looking for debate, there are better places than an online game's chat. Moreover, calmly debating matters is not a ban-able offense, however, when people in that debate intentionally provoke other players into conflict and chaos, that's when this rule takes effect. There's a difference between a debate where two reasonable people argue calmly while providing points that support their point of view, and where two people are arguing just for the sake of it (flaming) or to provoke other players into breaking other rules or start a fight.

2.4.6. Threats in any form related to Users, Administration or third persons; (I will report you, is a threat, however it does not go against the rules. It must not be reformed as of meaning but as of phrasing)

"I will report you" is not a threat. It is said to people to make them stop swearing, harassing or breaking any other rules. It's not the same as actually threatening people such as "I will hack your account if you don't do 1, 2 and 3", "I have photos of you I found on social media and I will post on the forums if you don't give me your password". These are the sort of threats that are included in this rule.

Religion should be completely freely talked about as well.

Same answer as for the political discussions.

EULA is a legal contract between the user and the company, which is why there is a notice when it is changed. However, the game rules are simply made by the company as rules for what you can and cannot do while using their product.

If I remember correctly you can get banned just for saying the D word.

All you said are correct but i'm afraid the said moderators wont follow them the way you suggest. I am as well asking you to attempt rising as an administrator as i believe you suit the job more than the current one :)

Thanks for taking time to reply, i still believe the rules should change and give us more clarity.

Provocation should not be a bannable offense since its structuring the chat

The rules are like this in order to have a clean and friendly community, otherwise it would be like other games where the community is terrible.

The point is, here in tanki online the community IS TERRIBLE. And the only way to change this is allow the good ones to come out without being afraid of getting banned.

I also like how the forum is filled with children that have no idea about how it is to live as an actual player and are trying hard to make an impression to the administrators for becoming moderators in the future.
