Influx of non-team players?

 Share

Recommended Posts

I have recently been in battles where I noticed individuals not contributing, just driving aimlessly around and purposefully self destructing:

I don't think I can name names w/o this being shut down as improper, but one was a colonel (designated Y1) in M2 Hunter and Thunder who in 2 battles I witnessed killed him/herself on purpose. In a Highland ASL after spawning Y1 would immediately turn around and drive off the map to self destruct. Sometimes Y1 would go and grab a flag first. Y1 never fired his/her weapon nor attempted to engage the enemy/capture a flag. Finished with something like 11 deaths no kills and no score.

I just finished a Bridges CTF where another player (now known as Y2) drove around in M2 titan and isisa and never aided in healing or killing or mining or overdrive or blocking or anything. Self destructed 6 times and was killed 7 times. Y2 also "changed equipment" a.k.a. hid in the garage for a minute and a half but was always wearing the same paints, protections, and equipment. In the last 2 minutes, Y2 managed to get 15 score from a kill, and then another 10 from somewhere.

I believe these players to be spiteful disillusioned immature players, who rather than spend their time constructively elsewhere, would sabotage random teams for no reason at all, except for the hell of it. They think if they behave so poorly in rebelling against MM, then the dev will yank MM and they can go back to whatever they were doing before, probably melting.

Has anyone else noticed this on either their team or an enemies?

Also, can I post the 2 names of the offenders so can others can beware and check their actions or is that harassment. Input from mods and others would be appreciated. @LadyMagnum you can report him here.

"Non-team" players is putting it lightly.

Bratty little prepubescents who probably violated the EULA when they got their account and are a word rhyming with "castle" to a º.

I assume you talking about a profane compound word made out of a 3 letter and a 4 letter word? I am calling Maf…

I too ran into that Y1 fellow, I couldn't understand their actions, once they drove into a pit in the map head on, but I attributed it to lag. Then I saw them approach the same hole later, pause with about a quarter of their tank over the hole, and then drove into it on purpose. Repeat performances for the rest of the match.

Sniva, I don't think they can be technically called multi if they weren't placed there by someone on the enemy team.

bohomie do you have screenshots of both battles to see if there is a common enemy?

Mult is now used to describe saboteurs of any type, but to be perfectly correct saboteurs is the right term. BTW if you are responding to me please quote my post so I get a notification. You can use the Multiquote feature to quote more than one post.

.....

I can understand the frustration from this. Its hard, especially with the new MM to get a good grove going.. like when you USED to get into a match and everyone sticks around.. cause you owned it by woking together. That continues for a few a matches before people move on... but with MM.. that hardly ever happens.. and is harder with Y1 and Y2 players... then you add the ones who actively piss in your bowl of Cheerios ... by getting in your way when you want to cap the flag.. etc. But at least the Y1 and Y2 are staying out of my way when playing.. yes.. they are hurting the team by their (non)-actions... but at least don't actively try and piss you off by getting in your way.

But to your point.. I have noticed the rise in said Y1 and Y2 players/

Its their playing style and they are a part of the game so..

Selfishness is something that exists even to the high-ranked mods and admins so you cant blame them for that

I don't understand those players. Maybe they're really small children, whose parents let them play on their account for a while. Maybe they're using a really bad PC or have terrible lag and can't shoot anything. Maybe they have an actual physical or mental disability that prevents them from playing on the same level as others, but they still want to play the game and you can't blame them for it.

Hopefully the MM system works effectively enough so that such players are accounted for when balancing the teams. For example, even in your battle the forces seem fairly balanced, since in both teams you have 3-4 bad players at the bottom, 2-3 average players in the middle and 2-3 really good players at the top. So in the end it's not all that bad.

Of course it would be great if players were completely separated by their skill and put into separate games, but Tanki doesn't have enough active players to do that effectively.

That sounds suspiciously like 3-5-7 MM, just rejiggered for 8 and 10 player teams instead of 15.

I'd like to believe you other points are the case, and give the benefit of the doubt. However, the sheer number and suspicious timing to me points to something deliberate.

WOT's latest matchmaking default is set too look for (per side) 3 high tiers, 5 mid tiers, and 7 low tiers; i.e. a for a Tier 7-9 match each team should have 3 tier 9s, 5 tier 8s and 7 tiers 7s. It means that your chance of being top tier is very small. Players wish they would switch to 5-10 matchmaking, where it looks for 5 tier 9s and 10 tier 8s. Swap the word "tier" for the "skill level rating" that TO uses in it's matchmaker, and the problem emerges. By putting low skill and high skills together, it means that 20% of the players have a great game, 50% have a meh game, and 30% are rolfl-stomped while getting abuse from their teams for sucking.

"Rofl stomped" I love this phrase. Pretty sure this will always be the case. Some players have good gear, some don't. Some have skill...some don't. Some can drug, some cant. Some are grown up and can make tactical decisions...some cant. All of these factors means that some ppl will always do better or worse than others...now driving around and dying should be considered multing tho

Before the everlasting, lovely, best update evah  MMS came into being, I'd watch a blowout I just left from the lobby. Sometimes I would notice that the last 1, 2, 3 names at the bottom of the losing teams list, were players whose score was 0. The name would disappear and then return, still doing nothing. When looking at the K/D, I noticed these accounts were very low, rock bottom, in the pits. I'm not talking about people with bad connections, lag, etc., I'm talking about around .30 in the pits. My conclusion is that these are accounts made specifically for multing. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to find out that there are players with several multing accounts at different ranks.

A few months ago, a friend and her 6 year old son visited for a week. While she was out shopping, I played Tanki while her son watched. He wanted to give it a try. I explained the controls and demonstrated, then let him in the driver's seat. He drove the tank just fine, but he couldn't understand why everyone was shooting at him. I tried to explain the concept of the game to him, but it was waaaay too far over his head. He couldn't get past why everyone was killing everyone else. Then he said something that amazed me. He said, "That's the problem with this world. Nobody loves anybody. They all hate each other." Anyway, all the while, all he was doing with the tank was driving around and getting killed.

Just now, playing CP, I saw an entire team not playing for the objective. Score was 25-5 when I left. The losing team didn't stop to change CP zones, no strategy whatsoever. I saw a Firebird/Wasp repeatedly go against 3 mammoths (Thunder, Ricochet, Twins) by himself. These Mammoths worked together. It was like the whole team was mults doing suicide missions. It seemed like I was the only one trying to do anything constructive. The enemy team wasn't spawn killing, they didn't have to. They just waited at each of the CP Zones. On the losing team, I didn't see anything bigger than a Hornet. They had Firebird and Railgun. I never saw anything like that before. Oh, BTW, this was a MM CP. If I didn't know better I'd say it was a setup. This wasn't a blowout, this was a massacre. I'm not blaming MM for this.

So should LadyMagnum replace the photograph with the name blurred?

It's a bit of a grey area, but it's not needed to blur it.

Look at the dude on the bottom of my team,M2 dictator, m1 rail, never used overdrive, never helped capture or return any flags, was here the entire match (had to have been, look at the #of deaths).

This is the second battle I fought with the useless clown moreke_RU.

NOTICE TO ALL TANKERS:

Stop letting your unskilled and underaged relatives get ahold of your account for hours on end. It's ruining the game.

Coincidentally, I just finished a topic that relates to this thread called "Match Making is killing team spirit and community"

I have noticed what you are talking about and I don't think it is just kids.  I think it is actively angry players lashing out in the only way they can against Tanki and what has been done to their game.  I have seen so much more rudeness and selfishness since matchmaking started that I play the game even less than I did before.  When I do play I see no team-ness.  There has always been a large element of harsh talk and baiting but players almost always pulled together to try and win.  Now there is no feel of the team helping the team to win.  The guys you are playing with at the moment are just that, in a few minutes you and they will be in other matches on other maps in other modes and will probably never bump into each other again. It's become very repetitive and soulless.

I think Tanki will see more of what you describe in this thread.  Eventually those players will probably just quit the game when they get tired of actively trying to riot and ruin it for everyone.  But in the short term, I would guess there will be more.  Tanki has abused it's players and the players have no way to fight back so they try to wreck it for everyone else.
