Valid Select 3 maps you don't want to play via MM system

TL;DR version:

My computer can't handle certain maps and the program crashes, so there should be an option to not get put into those maps by the MM system in order to avoid having to restart the game when such a map is selected. (Maf's note)

 

I have a relatively brand new computer with a good graphics card.

 

I also downloaded your stand-alone software version.

 

Since you lately changed tanki behavior in  a way that the player cannot choose which map to play, but you choose it for him automatically, this created a bug and a problem.

 

I could never play through the software the maps of "Rio" and "Future".

 

So even in the times one I try to choose them, the software gets stuck and I need to kill it often with task-manager of windows and restart it.

 

So I always avoided pressing these maps in order not to prevent the software from getting stuck.

 

I tried so many things in order to solve the problem, it never worked, you have only one version of the software that you haven't improvedd for a while, and it has some major bugs.

 

I contacted you and you suggested that I play throgh the web directly. I tried that also, sometimes it works (depending on the browser) and sometimes it doesn't.

 

In the end, I decided to never play these maps in order to avoid trouble.

 

BUT now after the last change, when the systems chooses the map for me, it chooses sometimes these buggy maps, and when it does, which happens often, I could spend an hour and more trying somehow to restart the game and trying to press different options so that it may choose a different map (by chance) and then let me continue the game.

 

Before the last change, I was able to play 1-2 hours uninterrupted.

Now, I would spend 3-5 hours while only being able to play 1-2 hours, because the rest of the time, I try to restart the game and try to avoid the maps that will make it get stuck.

 

It is extremely frustrating and a lot of wasted time.

 

Since you strategically decided to force players to play the maps you choose for them, and you probably will not change this decision, I suggest that you at least give the players the option to make exceptions, so they don't get stuck.

 

I thought of a solution in which the players go to the settings and can for example optionally tick let's say up to 3 maps that they don't want to system to automatically choose from.

 

In my case, I would have ticked "Rio" and "Future" maps.

 

This way, the system chooses automatically from other working maps and I can play continuously without having to restart the game over and over again to avoid these maps.

 

This could be an excellent solution at least until you fix the bugs in these maps which you haven't fixed for a over a year. It would then allow players to play continuously without being very frustrated because of the bugs.

 

And it will still let the system choose the map, but this time, just avoid the problematic and buggy maps.

M y (completely uneducated) guess is such a thing would add a lot of query overheard to the MM system thus adding considerable system lag and delaying game start up even more.  So I am not going to expect this.

Fort knox won't be added because of all the Magnum camping spots. Thats why Noise and Cologne were removed from standard battles a long time ago. Sad, 3 really fun maps destroyed due to one gun...

That's great! Not everyone can play in all maps. It depends on the combo! But the problem is that, the maps in the MM system are already few in number. I get to play in the same map again and again!

I personally have no problem with playing on all maps that are currently in the map pool. But the majority of Tanki players in game are surely not interested in being thrown into a map or two they dislike. I'll share this topic in-game and they can contribute to your idea and help it grow, if I start chatting with some players who don't like specific maps  :) Good luck.

I'm a computer scientist. With good programming, trust me, everything can be made excellently. They just need an open mind.

Many players hate playing some maps like I hate 'Sandbox' map. They leave the battle and waste time. Read this topic and find out the new dream feature!

 

The 'Ignore Maps' feature is used to ignore those maps you don't want to play. You can choose atleast 5 or less maps to ignore. There will be only MM (Matchmaking) maps as we can choose a map in PRO battles, this will also be easier to make updates as it is for MM battles. This option can be found only in Settings. There will be a new category so it can be easier to find. In the category their will be 3 things :

 

• 'Ignore Maps' drop down
• Ignore in which modes disable the maps (You can choose all)
• Remove map in group (This Setting only works by the group leader)

I don't dislike many maps, but I'll quit Stadium when I realize that nobody else on my team wants to try and cap points or get to the other side of the map and start killing the campers
