Ability to Fire when Tank is a Ghost

People rage quit because they always get spawn killed. With smart cooldowns, you can only have 1 drug activated to protect your from a group of 4 fully-drugged spawn killers. 

 

Spawn killing is bad for the game and it makes many players, especially people who are new to the game, become disinterested in the game. There is no other game where spawn killing is this big of a problem. 

 

I think when you just spawn and you are in the ghost mode where you are see-through and cannot be damaged, you should still be able to shoot at enemies and inflict damage on them simply to counter spawn-killing. I think you should also be able to activate supplies (nitro, double power, or a mine is possible) while in ghost mode in order to counter overdrived spawn killers. This might make matches slightly less one-sided.

Spawn protection provides this functionality.

 

There is a drone which gives the same feature as you mentioned here, allowing you to have all supplies on right when you spawn. Other ideas that might be related to this and perhaps even improve are the following ones:

If this idea will be promoted, It will ruin XP/BP.

One of the specific reasons why I made this idea is for XPBP. If you spawn next to someone who is on full health, you are practically daed.

activating supplies while in ghost mode is a completey insane idea. 

so if my whole clan runs into 2 mammoth isida teammates the moment they spawn... those mammoth isidas just have to get close enough to Godmode_ON and send all the ghosts into him and the ghost each drop a mine delivering instant death? (cause his module only protects against all turrets but not mines)

I suggested something similar as one messure out of three to overcome the bad player experience in unbalanced battles.

Even without fewer supplies a team could chisel down the spawn trappers; except they use drugs constantly and the trapped ones don't. So it will not make drugs obsolete ( = low economic impact IMHO).

 

 

Battles are often unbalanced.

 

 

It would help a team with less players if the following things would happen:

 

  • spawntime is reduced for weaker team
    10vs9 -> normal spawn times (as today)
    10vs8 -> spawn times = 80% for the weaker team
    10vs5 -> spawn times = 50% for the weaker team
     
  • Drops Balance
    It makes no sense, if you play 10vs6 on a 20players map, and the 10 dominate and collect all the drops for 20 players, while the 6 get spawntrapped. Reduce the drop frequency on the whole map in periods of heavily unbalanced teams, so there are less drops available during this periods.

 

 

  • invincibility
    Let the weaker team spawn and shoot, while they are still in ghost-mode (invincible). Have the invincibility time aligned to the proportion of team sizes:
    10vs9 -> no invincibility (as today)
    10vs8 -> 1,1 seconds invincibility (to give a shot before you die)
    10vs5 -> 2 seconds invincibility (to escape more easily and shot 1..2 times before you die)

 

Most likely you need a combination of them.

Think, do you really think your scenario is feasible at all? 

what iss there to think when it already happens? you're a clan leader and you never seen other clans invading the enemy bases with ghosts inside isida mammoths? if you think it's not feasible yet it already happens then... I didn't know i was talking to a mentally disabled person

 

okay i just thought... you're right godmode only plays in DMs... but it should still be easy to get close enough to him...

Ah, good point. I think that if you fire while inside someone, all of your shots will automatically go into the tank you are inside of.

I feel like this is not the right solution for spawn-killing. Thing is, the invisibility time is part of the total respawn time, so if players are able to shoot during that time, it means that the opposite team will have even less time to focus on the game objective while the enemy is respawning. \

 

What I mean is that the total respawn time is 15 seconds (I think), 3 of which are when the tank already spawned but hasn't materialised. So if you reduce the respawn time from 15 to 12 seconds, it leaves the opposite team with less time to get away with the flag or score a goal before the enemy they destroyed is able to fight again.

 

More importantly, it's simply illogical to allow a tank to shoot when it's still transparent and immortal.

What if ghost tanks get a 200% speed boost when spawned? That way at least they'll get the chance to run away.

Maybe, but there is no way that you can outrun a railgun bullet.

I don't agree with the idea.

 

I think a better solution to spawn killing would be something like today's Overdrive that you get everytime you spawn, even if you just joined a battle, lasts 5 or 10 seconds, no mines, non shareable and automatic. That while they work on balancing battles.

 

There should be an ability to kill ghost tanks.

Please no. I want easy kills with my Titan Shaft so I can finally micro-upgrade them to M2.

Spawn killing is unpleasant if you are the recipient but fun if you are the killer.  It is also a major tactic in the game and gives Tanki some of the only diversity it has left.  A team works to get to the point where they can start spawn killing and that is in itself a reward for doing a good job as a team.  It is also punishment for having the bad luck to be chucked in with the losers by Match Making or punishment for just not playing very well.
