Is using Overdrive on your own acceptable if you complete a majour task?

No one says you have to use OD on your teammates. It's yours, you earned it, you use it anyway you see fit. Personally, I try to save it for a teammate who is low on health and has no OD. But, in battle, situations can change very quickly. When I find myself in a bad situation, you can bet your booty I'll use it. Since the other team doesn't see your white star, it's like a secret weapon.

I try to use it only when there's at least 2 other team mates next to me, or when using it is crucial to score a goal or capture the flag.

Absolutely yes....

I try to boost as many as possible, but also keeping in mind the sooner I use OD's, the more likely it is that I get an extra OD boost to use towards the end of battle, which can be the battle winner OD in some situations. And the sooner I use OD's the more of them I get to use per battle on average. So I ain't gonna go around herding teammates for minutes on end to use my OD.

I cant count the number of times I've been killed trying to get close enough to another teammate before using the OD.

There are any number of factors that can influence when to best use your OD. I think that if you have the mindset of using it to help the team win, then you will be fine. It's those who never use it or save it for "gold admin pleeeeze" who aren't fine.

it is acceptable to never even use it at all cause

Not in a Team battle - especially when other team is using it.

Not using it when you can to help your team borders on sabotage.

Of course. You should use your OD for yourself when it is a close game, if and only if, you have the flag and you know you can make it with an extra health pack. Sharing OD to prepare an assault on the enemy base doesn't work most of the time.

I do it all the time, but then I'm the daft bugger sat on the flag/control point/really nasty sniping position that can reach 75% of the map and alone a lot of the time. If there are a couple of us working the flag/base then I'll share.

What really pi553s me of is the tanker bumping me for the overdrive so he can charge up the middle towards the objective and get killed halfway.

When I see a bunch of enemies without drugs, I just push that button and kill them all as fast as possible! On the other hand, when a noob drugger attacks me, I just let him kill me instead of countering with overdrive because these noobs tend to use repair kits aka instant 1000 health basically every time when they are going to be killed. I use repair kits only in safe positions behind walls or buildings to replenish my full HP.

I use about ¾ of overdrives near teammates and ¼ alone when I see some easy kills.

I'd say the only time to use it yourself is when you can score by using it. For example, most frustrating is when someone grabs my flag and uses overdrive and escapes. That is like a sacrifice fly in baseball, you force through a small amount of power that gains you important team score

That's a classic use for sure. There are other times besides the flag itself where this applies.  How many games have had an enemy stronghold of sniper nest causing headaches? If you burn an OD to bust into or disrupt the enemy's flow it is more than worth it. Other times it can be simply use it or lose it.

Pretty much anyone who thinks more than "Me want Gold Box" will be trying to use their OD well.

Or the other guy who is wounded, right next to you, is shooting at the attacking enemy so you know he seems them too, but he will not use his OD nope no sir.  Not until either you are destroyed or until he drives forward just far enough to get out of OD rang.  Then he will pop the OD 1/5th of a second before blowing up.

This is of course the same guy who was pumping you to use your OD on him..

But I wanted to add a new complication: Drones.  I bought Drive to experiment with a drone.  Guess what teh first thing I realized?  If you have Driver you have to pop the OD as soon as you can. What Driver does is make OD waiting time shorter.  If your OD is ready, Driver has nothing to do.  But Driver will still burn 1 300 Cry Battery per minute.  So DRiver drones will be wanting to use that OD right away in order to get another one.

So keep an eye out for that srt of thing going forward.

Well, my old nickname was KillerAssassin3, so that trait will always be a huge part of me, besides killing others is the only thing that I am actually able to do. It does help my teammates out so they won't be fired at as much when they go to cap something. It a win-win, I get the kills and my teammates get to live a little longer.

Yeah it is; especially on high damage per shot turrets like Shaft, Rail and Magnum.

I prefer to wait for a teammate to show up so I can share the overdrive

However, holding up the star shouldn't take too long; it means you're holding back the next overdrive aswell.

Do not sit there with the star above your head because you insist on getting atleast 3 teammates near you; they get overdrives too.

What difference can overdrive make, in this game everyone drugs af.

It does make a difference when used in connection with the drones. Last week, I battled against a team that had constant OD supplies applied. They were using OD and drones. The ranks were my rank and below. Our team was defenseless against them. I used my supplies as fast as I could and our whole team was sharing OD (except for 2). Our ODs couldn't come fast enough. Battle mode was CP. I tried many times to sneak out, but was always caught when they realized someone had escaped.

Before the drones, I saw players activate all the OD supplies at once without the blue dome. Now, they don't have to hack the OD supplies. Just have a team with drones and it's GAME OVER.
