Make group available starting with rank Recruit. There is no logic in limiting it at wo1 (I suppose). Can't play  10 ranks (57k xp) without friend. Equivalent of at least 15 hours play with premium. Newcomers might get annoyed and simply leave the game.

YES PLEASE. I don't have a single clue why they limit it. Players below WO1 have exactly as much right to play with their friends as players at or above WO1. (or whatever the rank it is) Seriously. 

 

This is particularly frustrating because groups are now the ONLY way to play with your friends. It's literally like saying "If you haven't played for this amount of time, you don't deserve to have fun with your friends".

I think it prevents groups of alts from dominating battles while new players don't know how to use the system or don't have friends yet.

 The group function is currently unavailable up to WO1 . This is a temporary solution to reduce abuse of the group function. Developers are working on improving the group system and MMs in general. Wait and see.

Also, what do you think a new player would find more frustrating and un-enjoyable:

 

1. Occasionally getting gang-banged by some alts
2. Finding that they currently have absolutely zero way to play with their friends, and probably won't have a way until at least a month of playing later

People would put low ranked mults in their group and go to battle. When they join, 1-3 slots are hogged up by mults in m0, not allowing people with better gear join.

Then make a rank difference restriction on whether you can invite someone to the group (the allowed difference should be the same as the one for determining whether you can join a certain battle). There. 

 

Also I might point out that limiting it to WO1 or above isn't gonna solve this problem either. An M1 is still a mult to M3s.

Yes perfect strategy to mult for the other team. 

The point is, limiting group at wo1 won't prevent a thing related to sabotage. Instead is terribly annoying to play alone so many hours and not with friend.

It is still work in progress. The developers' end game is to offer the group option to every rank but in a way it is not abused.

Yeah. I was thinking the same thing too. The battle groups in matchmaking battles should be available from the rank of Recruit.

Put rank restriction like +/- 3 (any number) ranks. So, if you are , you can invite to group ranks from to . It is not so hard to implement.

Indeed. Groups became available at low ranks after an additional unannounced update released today.
