"An Inside Look at the Hottest Clans" is a new series created by myself and @Jaaames. We take a look at the current top clans and find out how they achieved their success. Any suggestions for future articles like this will be warmly welcomed, but for now, here's Penguins. Enjoy!

2018 has been the most successful year for the Penguins so far. They received many new achievements, won new paints, and at the moment Penguins is the best English clan that still exists! But how did it happen? How did a “standard” English clan become the best? To find the answers, keep reading.

Clan's History

The clan was created on the 15th of June by @Loverfull & (cinthya03). The clan’s name was “Chicos”.

They recruited new members and got themselves to the Top-16 (Blitz rating) pretty fast, right before the Clan Championship 9, but unfortunately for them, the clan was eliminated in the group stage.

After the Clan Championship 9, they changed the clan’s name to “Penguins”, as they are known today. Their first successful tournament was Master of the Swords #2, where they got into playoffs and won the Gladiator paint!

The clan kept getting stronger and got some good results in the Domination Series tournament.

Penguins also played in the Clan Championship 10, where they got into the playoffs and once again received the Gladiator paint.

A few months later, when the International Championship was announced, it seemed like Penguins are the promising clan that may come victorious in the end. And that’s what exactly happened. Penguins beat all of the other clans and got the title of “Best English Clan” and the new Prism paint which comes with Spectrum B module.

But, their most successful tournament and their biggest achievement so far was in Master of the Swords #3, where they managed to beat Peppers in the final to become the best clan of all! And as a result, they received the Impulse & Gladiator paints, Spectrum B module and millions of crystals!

The Interview

Behind every successful man stands a woman, so behind every successful clan stands a leader! Today, I will be interviewing the man who led the clan for more than a year and never gave up even when it was hard. Please welcome @FinalStage!

Hello @FinalStage, please introduce yourself to the readers.

@FinalStage: Hello, My name is Yan. I am 19 years old and live in Ukraine.

How did you get into Penguins and how did you become the leader?

@FinalStage: I was invited to Penguins after Clan Championship 9 by cinthya03 (), who was the leader of the clan at that time. Then in summer he left the team and gave leadership to @Ben, but he didn't have much time for leading a clan so I got the leadership because I was the most active player and I had enough experience.

As a leader, what considerations do you have?

@FinalStage: Play and lead a team like Penguins is very difficult, because, after winning the Master of the Swords and International Championship, people expect to see good results from us. As a leader I'm just trying to keep everything clean in the team, do tactics, and coordinate on the map.

Have you even thought about closing the clan when some good members left it?

@FinalStage: We had such moments. For example, on June-Jule 2017 we played with 8 players in team, and we just hoped we will have 6 players for official game. We almost didn't train and we thought it's our last month together. but just then I got  the leadership and brought back old players. Then after CC10, when I got an eSports ban for 3 months, players in the team thought that the clan is about to get closed, but luckily we managed to keep the squad and the clan together. Then in the February-April we had a lot of conflicts, people started leaving because the atmosphere in the clan was pretty bad, but we managed to solve our problems.

Let’s talk about the International Championship. When you heard about the tournament, have you ever thought that your clan would win it?

@FinalStage: We understood that the clans in English community weren't as strong as in the Russian community and we had a great chance to win. However, we were not sure until the end because there were teams like Biological Hazard, Bad Intentions and Jokers. We also realized that our conflicts could prevent us from winning the tournament.

Many people said that it wasn't fair for the rest of the clans in the tournament as Penguins was in a higher level. What do you think about it?

@FinalStage: I think you deserve a paint and success, when you can beat everyone. We won but we are not invincible.

Of course, Penguins’ biggest achievement was winning in the Master of the Swords #3. How do you lead a clan to win such a tournament?

@FinalStage: As the leader, I began to prepare carefully for each match after the defeat by Peppers.
I watched every match of our next opponents. I was trying to find a weak spot and put pressure on it, or tried to find some features in their game and be ready for them.
But the most important thing is the desire and skills of the clan members, they did not give up after the defeat, they trained hard and did their best in every match!

Do you have any goal you want to achieve as a leader/player? If so, what is it?

@FinalStage: My main goal is to make the English community proud of us! And as a captain, I want my team to win the most important tournament in Tanki - Clan Championship.

Where do you see Penguins in a year from now?

@FinalStage: I can't answer this question because everything can happen. For example, we can get closed in a week from now, or remain open for years. Time will tell. For now, I want to play TOF and Clan Championship 11. Then we'll see.

Thank you for joining us today, I wish you & Penguins good luck  in the upcoming tournaments!

The ones that got away

Penguins was a home for many great players, but some of them "left home" and went to other clans. Let's start with the most common example, @Spy (your loyal reporter). I was in Penguins for 6 months or so, and have had a great time with them, but I decided to leave and join Vavilon, with which I won Silver :P

Another good example is @Lankbouv, the most successful player in the English community. @Lankbouv decided to leave the clan and the game after winning Impulse - Which completed his goals list.

No one can forget the past, every old member of Penguins will never forget (cinthya03) who led the clan during Master of the Swords #2 and brought the Gladiator paint to the clan for the first time ever! After leaving Penguins, joined Biological Hazard where he won Gladiator in Clan Championship X. You probably didn't know that, but was in "AK" during the first season of the Star Series as well!

@Loverfull was the first leader of this clan and the person who invited me to join Penguins. @Loverfull created the clan after getting Gladiator with a clan called "DzP" in Master of the Swords. He also was a part of the clan during Master of the Swords #2.

@legenddestroyer, was in the clan during Master of the Swords #2 and helped with leading. You probably didn't know that too, but @legenddestroyer was in "AK" during the first season of the Star Series together with

And last but not least, [member=MIKI]. Many would say that MIKI was the best XP player in this clan, and I am one of them. MIKI was a part of the clan since its creation. He was the most important player of the clan during Master of the Swords #2.

Penguins is a great clan with many achievements! I believe we all would love to see them winning more tournaments and maybe even pass “All Kind”. We will have to wait and see. Don’t forget to congratulate them for their win in their forum page.
