Make Mine Planting Above Other Tanks Impossible

Recommended Posts

I hate it when some light-hull user just flies through the air and plants his dirty mines above me. Somehow, the mines manage to find their way under my tank and BOOM, I'm dead because mines are illogical. The point is, planting a mine above another user should be impossible. I don't see the possibility of planting a mine above a flag or point, so why not imply the same mechanic on users? Make the area above a users tank a no-mine zone.

It's not exactly realistic, but it's a very useful tactic. The only thing that could be changed is mines could be turned into objects affected by physics, where they appear under the tank and actually drop to the ground, which would then allow you to see the mine falling on your tank, rather than having it just appear underneath.

But the tactic of dropping mines on the tank below is completely valid. It's not that overpowered either. I rarely get blown up by mines from tanks above me since whenever someone jumps over me or climbs on top, I instinctively start moving so that if they do drop a mine, I can get off their mine before it activates. Similarly, I always drop a mine on top of an enemy tank if I happen to be above it. It just takes some time to develop the right reflexes and you will be able to avoid getting blown up.

It's fun in parkour - find an OP player killing someone, approach him in an innocent way so he doesn't think to shoot you, then suddenly get on top of him and plant tons of mines.

I am one of those lighter hull guys...and yes I use this technique.  I have also blown myself up with it.  Not quite sure how.

staying on the top of other tank for a little longer duration leads to suicide, that is probably how you get killed.

So all "light hulled" users beware.

happy tanking :)

even heavy/medium hulled tankers can use this mining-on-the-head technique effectively with right positioning on the map (used it once with viking :P) but better be quick :excl:
