Why do people like Hornet-Railgun?

Personally, I feel like its dumb. Light hull, slow reload, very easily killed. Someone please tell me why they like using it. I think it is only fun because it has its own gamemode for some reason... but why is this so favored?

Because it looks "cool"

Probably because its one of the few combos an entire team can play with without feeling like they're missing any important equipment, XP and BP can attack defend and midfield naturally even in non-format battles.

Eh, the russian esports were once based on it so.. agreed with maf. Skill .-.

Russian Players = No Skill.

Ever wonder where the phrase "Rush B" comes from?

Wasp and Hornet are the fastest hulls so they can perform peek-a-boo tactics faster than Viking or Hunter. Camping with these combos needs more skill than camping with Shaft. That is the reason why I use Titan Shaft. I just can not get used to Railgun shot delay.

Thunder and Shaft can do the same.

You cannot really attack with Shaft, its only fully suited for defence. Thunder is fine but its a pretty underpowered turret overall.

Everytime I see an XP/BP player in a regular battle, in the back of my mind I think: "Free Kill"

They usually have lots of surplus drugs because they don't need them in xpbp battles.

Many people like the concept of high dmg, high speed and low HP. Its funny to play since you have to rely on evading/sneaky tactics instead of tanking dmg. The high dmg / low reload is often associated with that because you can output a lot of dmg with minimum exposure. Also the contrast of placing a giant cannon on the roof of an ae86 is mlg stuff XD This concept is not particular to tanki, for example in tf2 you have scout with the same characteristics. As for it being easy to kill, well if you use it for direct combat, like it was a titan/twins or something, its obvious that its not going to work. But otherwise it can be a great combo when the situation allows you to avoid direct combat and when you dont need a viking stability and HP. However they screwed most of wasp/hornet fun with that update were they "normalised" tank stats across heavy-medium-light hulls.

I don't mind Hornet-Railgun being popular and I don't mind players using it to improve their skills in the game and to compete in eSports tournaments. What really bothers me if when people treat XP/BP as the ONLY measure of skill and call someone a noob when they can't play well with XP combo.

Not trying to brag here, but I consider my own skill to be on a professional level with Hammer, Magnum, Thunder, Twins, Firebird, Ricochet; fairly competent with Isida, Smoky, and Railgun; and pretty bad with Striker, Vulcan, Shaft and Freeze. I never aimed to become a professional with Railgun, so any decent player will likely be able to defeat me in a 1v1. But there are just so many of these so-called "XP professionals" who have a thousand hours played with nothing but that one combo and would proceed to call me a "noob" after defeating me in a duel, like XP is the only thing that matters.

I like to make them think that I'm using the XP combo, and then I change to something else and make them rage quit. :P
