Show teammates' overdrive charge progress

 Share

Recommended Posts

It'd be really helpful if we could see our team-mates overdrive percentage bar next to their name when we look at them. This way I can tell if my team-mate has a near-full overdrive bar or not.

May result in an increased number of overdrive beggars :D

Under review

Perhaps make it visible when holding "R" to avoid cluttering up the interface.

It can be made as a full circle with the overdrive star in the middle, when at 100%. At 0%, only the star would be visible, and as it loads, the circle would be created. ( circular progress indicator) This way it could be made small enough to fit beside the nickname above the tank.

Not needed, because soon new Overdrives will be implemented, and unlike today's Overdrive the new ones won't be shareable.

It can still help coordinate actions, or make decisions based on that even if the team isn't coordinated. Imagine, for example, that you're a Wasp, maybe if there's a Hunter with near full overdrive you could attack with him, he deactivates enemy supplies and you deploy the bomb. :p

I did not think about this idea, but I like the idea of a filling overdrive bar for team mates in team battles. You forgot to mention this filling overdrive bar for players in DM battles as well.

Yep, more OD beggers. It's bad enough that I'm concentrating on the enemy's movements and my own teammates are shooting at me for my OD. I share my OD, but I prefer to share with those who are low on health with no star. If my team is aggressive and I know they are going again for the attack, then I'll share. But if my team is losing because they are a bunch of noobs who aren't interested in the battle objective, then let 'em die. (Playing TDM when the mode is CTF or CP). If they have their own star, let them use their own.

Now you want them to see my ODs load bar? I'll have 5 sitting next to me, getting in the way, waiting for my OD while the other team is grabbing the flag or changing a CP.

No, thank you.

That's a good thought, but Overdrives are a terrible idea.

Well perhaps there should be an option to hide your OD charge process in the settings menu.

Darn tootin' I'll hide it. When I play Shaft, invariably, when I'm looking down the scope about to make a shot, someone will bump into me making me miss. I turn around to find someone with full health and their own star wanting my OD. If there's a group and they are going in, then yes, I'll share. I just don't want to encourage players to mult for a minute or so waiting for my OD to mature.

I suggest that we should be able to know the percentage of overdrives that our teammates have, instead of just showing a white star above those who already get an overdrive.

I think that the charged % of overdrives is needed to be shown to allies. It can help the players to think of the strategy to win. We now have a star shown upon the tank when the overdrive is fully charged in game. My idea is that the star is shown all the time upon the tank to allies. But it is shown according the % charged of overdrives. For example, when the overdrive is 25% charged, then 25% of the star is shown. When the overdrive is 50% charged, then a half star is shown. When the overdrive is fully charged, then a whole star is shown and the star turns yellow.

Maybe this could be used effectively in eSports, but in standard MM battles it's unlikely that you'll be able to come up with a good strategy when your team is full of random players. And if you play in a group with voice chat, you can already communicate your OD charge to each other without needing to see it in the battle.

On the other hand, there have been times where I would want my teammate to know that my OD is almost ready so that they wait for it and allow me to share it. Or when the nuke box is dropping, I would want to know what charge my teammate is at so that I'd let them take the box if they're lower than me.

If Discording Groupers can communicate about ODs and other things, I think this info being available for randoms would help a little, very little because most randoms are noobs.

So I agree... Groups should only fight against other Groups.

Also a message that pops up and tells you how to activate it, annoying ass teammates that never use OD are annoying

Well, it's not always not knowing how to use OD, there are times that the player will save it for moments like catching a goldbox, or find the perfect spot to maximize its effect (kinda like me).
