The Gold Box is something special for the Tanker, and a random bonus caught by random players. It is such a nice moment when you get it ,but that rarely happens, especially if there are skilled and experienced players. There are plenty of tips you can use and if you make a good combination of them, you have just finished the first step to catching a Gold Box.

 

Why would you catch a gold box?

 

There are many reasons to take a gold box. I will only mention a few of them:

1. To buy some things in the Garage. If you are a Non-Buyer, you want to get crystals and the gold box is the perfect choice. Especially for the lower ranks, it would be enough good to buy a new turret or hull and upgrade it.

2. To make YouTube videos. Most Tanki Online videos are usually containing gold boxes and can make the tankers popular if they show any super skill. We can also get tips and watch new strategies.

3. Another reason, which is not often mentioned, is to become better as a player. It sounds strange, but catching Gold Boxes require some skills like jumping in the air, shooting other tanks with your turret and hiding or protecting yourself from other shots. Using your supplies is essential too. 

 

Required Equipment

 

Turrets: Firebird, Hammer, Freeze, Thunder, Smoky, Ricochet, Railgun, Twins

Hulls: Dictator, Hornet, Hunter, Viking, Titan

Protection: Against these turrets

 

Combinations

 

Firebird and Freeze can match with a Hornet or a Hunter. But the best hull for Gold Boxes is the Dictator. Actually, it can match with long range turrets, so it's better to use Railgun or anyway any medium range turret like Thunder. As for Isida, it is not recommended, because it is more difficult to kill players in such a situation and Isida can help by healing some teammates to catch the Gold Box. After the decision of the turret you will use, you should clear the strategy you will use, which depends on the hull you selected.  For example, if you use Hornet or Hunter, it can help you jumping to other bigger hulls if there is a ramp, while using Dictator or Viking helps you to push other tanks and get more space. There are many protections you can use, so I cannot mention all of them. However, with the new protection module, you can earn up 3 protection from turrets. You can find them in the Garage.

 

  Here I have a table of combinations, which is useful when you decide on the tank:

 

• Firebird/Freeze/Hammer/Thunder/Twins - Hornet/Hunter  
• Thunder/Railgun - Dictator/Viking
• Smoky/Hammer - Viking/Hunter
• Railgun - Hunter      

  Let's go to the tips now: 

 

1. Use your supplies, to become stronger.

 

As the Gold Box drop speed was reduced to 10 seconds, you don't have time to self-destruct now. If you have more than 50% health, continue without using any Repair kit (except if you use hornet or Hunter), but if you have less, use it immediately. Meanwhile, equip Double Armor and then a Speed Boost and finally get a Double Damage to destroy the other tanks.

 

2. Find a place to hide if there are many players.

With the new drop speed, you cannot find many players on the Gold Box drop location. But if there are, search for a place to hide. It should give you the chance to watch other players near the drop location and protect you from shots. Finally, when the gold starts to fall, you should start running.

 

3.If there are ramps, use them to jump to other tanks.

 

The best example is Stadium, as with its ramps in the walls, it helps the tanks to jump to other players. But other examples are Noise and Serpuhov because their ramps are more useful. In Serpuhov, there is a ramp with grass next to the Blue Base, which will be used mostly when the Gold Box falls in the centre. You should also be aware of the time and jump exactly to the top of the other tank, so you will get a huge possibility to catch the box.

 

4.It's the time now! Try to catch the Gold box against everyone.

 

The most crucial time is now! You should act fast and don't get panicked, because you will get killed and lose the box. Since you have already equiped supplies, go straight to the Gold Box drop location and start shooting. Continue blasting all the enemies and get closer to the Gold Box by pushing other players. If you are on the top of a player, just run to the location and watch out for players who are opening fire on you.

 

What I do if the Gold Box is at an underground location?

 

As everyone does, search the drop location. In such a case, cover it up, so nobody can see it and as the drop speed is fast, you will catch it easily. That's why a heavy hull like Dictator is required, because even smart players should be tricked, so they cannot take the Gold Box. The best example is Silence and its tunnel.                                                                                                                     

 

Best Maps to catch Gold Boxes         

The equipment you will use depends on the size and the length of the map you are playing and the enemies you have to face-off. Especially, the map can play a special and important role to your performance and can be mentioned as small, medium, high and huge. Now, let's analyse the best maps for catching Gold Boxes and explain some things, in order to practice your strategies. 

Attention: The pictures of the maps are from the Tanki Online Wiki, so I couldn't find any picture with the updated maps.

 

1) Highland

 

 

Highland is the map of Railgun as we know, because it has many places to hide and a couple of ramps, useful for small hulls like Hornet and Hunter or perhaps Viking. But if the Gold Box falls in the centre or far from ramps and you use a small hull, stay a bit further for a second, to protect yourself from other shots. Then with your Speed Boost, run fast and start pointing at other tanks. I recommend Firebird, Freeze and Thunder, as they charge fast and are easy to use. As for Dictator, there are two strategies: to push other tanks while shooting or to jump in the air at the perfect time.

2) Iran

 

 

Most Gold Box drop locations are in the centre and close to them, you can find walls and ramps. Railgun has a starring role in battles, but Firebird is an alternative if you want a melee range turret. Unfortunately, you cannot handle with small hulls, so use hulls like Dictator and Hunter. I would also recommend using Thunder because it can shoot from a further distance and with a Double Damage and a Double Armor, it could be turned into a real Death Machine. Hunter is pefect for jumping in the air, so it could be useful if the Gold box falls near a ramp. You should also notice, that Gold Boxes can fall within the limits of the map and it often happens at my rank.

3) Noise

 

 

Noise has a couple of drop locations under ramps, so Gold Boxes don't fall from the sky, but it shows automatically. For cases like that, you should be prepared. Push the other tanks, while blasting them. And if you have any small hull, be careful and avoid the strongest players. Viking, Hunter and Dictator are the best choices, so select any of them. Hunter is better for jumping on other players, while Dictator and Viking are stronger and powerful. The Red Base offers an extremely huge advantage for jumpers, because it's easy to reach the drop locations in the centre, while the blue one is closer to the most drop locations and an interasting option for Hornets and Hunters. As for turrets, equip Firebird and turrets of any range, but focus on the strength of the enmies hulls, in order to choose a perfect one.

4) Polygon 

 

 

Polygon is a map, where many Gold Boxes have usually been dropped. It is also a nice map for every type of turrets. You can choose between Railgun, Ricochet and Smoky if you have a medium hull and Firebird, Hammer or Freeze if you have a lighter one. Titan is very slow, so it should be rejected, but if you have enemies with heavy hulls, use it. The perfect hulls in my opinion for Polygon are Hunter and Dictator. Hunter is really fast and has an amazing jumping ability, while Dictator is quite fast and really useful for this map. Viking is another ideal hull, especially because of its speed.

Railgun, Ricochet, Smoky - Dictator

 

 

5) Rio

 

 

Rio is a popular map and has many drop locations almost everywhere. There are needed hulls that are enough fast to reach every Gold Box drop location. Hornet, Hunter and Viking are the best choices because they can handle every battle mode too. As for turrets, why don't you trust any of the recommended Firebird, Railgun, Hammer and Freeze? Firebird and Freeze because of the extremely high damage they cause, Hammer as it can shoot from a further distance to many other tanks and Railgun shoots from very far and is suitable for many maps and there are many tankers who love it.

Firebird, Freeze, Hammer - Viking, Hornet, Hunter

Railgun - Hornet, Hunter

 

6) Sandbox

 

 

Sandbox is a very short map but there are loads of cool choices. Most tankers select fitter hulls like Hornet and Hunter, which are better than Wasp. From the other side, you can go with an armoured hull like Titan and Dictator, while Viking combines both strength and speed. Railgun is the turret of the map, but you can also choose Firebird, Hammer, Ricochet or Twins. A good tip is to hide behind the walls when a Gold Box will be dropped.

Ricochet, Twins - Titan, Dictator, Viking

 

7) Serpuhov

 

 

Serpuhov is a map with many drop locations and most of them are in the middle and next to buildings. For such a map, you need medium to heavy hulls and I suggest Dictator, Viking and Titan because of their strength. If you choose Hunter or Hornet, you won't have enough health and you will need many Repair kits, however you will be faster and with a melee and short range turret, you will be even unstoppable. Turrets like Firebird, Thunder and Hammer are great choices, but the map is ideal for multiple turrets and you can perform every strategy you want. Notice what I said firstly and hide somewhere.

Smoky, Thunder, Ricochet, Hammer, Railgun - Viking, Dictator, Titan

Firebird, Freeze, Twins, Smoky, Railgun - Hunter

 

8) Silence

 

 

Silence is a map with many drop locations and some of them are under bridges or in tunnels. You can use hulls with speed like Hornet and Hunter, however the best choices are Dictator and Viking. They are fast and they have a good health, so you can trust them. Titan is another alternative, while as for turrets, it's better to select Firebird, Hammmer, Thunder, Ricochet, Smoky or Railgun. Most Gold Boxes fall in the bridges, so you should jump from the closer buildings.

Thunder, Ricochet - Titan

 

Conclusion

 

Everything you will do is in your mind. All about your choices, about the enemies. Just think smart and focus on the enemies you will face off. You will equip the right protections and the required equipment. After that, hide somewhere, develop your strategies and go to the gold box. Then, it's the crucial moment, as you have to fight with other players. Everyone is against you, even your team. If you follow all the instructions and kill the other players, then the Gold Box is yours.

Edits:

• Loads of formatting edits. Remember that in typing, the comma normally comes right after a word and then a space after the comma, and then the other word. eg: "At the store, get eggs, cheese, and bacon".
• Loads of grammar edits. That's to be expected if English isn't your first language. No worries there. But a couple things to keep in mind for the future.

1. Turrets don't have gender (use "it" as the pronoun rather than assigning genders to them, even if Isida is obviously a girl turret :ph34r:)
2. Learn the difference between words like it and it's, and your and you're.

• Loads of spelling edits. Spellcheck is your best friend. Use itttt.

 

I think for the moment it would be good if you stuck with pieces in your native language (I'm assuming English isn't). If you're set on writing in English, then I'd suggest getting a grammar checking app like Grammarly. Normally I'd advise against Grammarly because it isn't actually all that accurate, and native English speakers don't benefit that much from it, but for someone who isn't used to English grammar, it helps keep things readable.

 

That being said, the content of the article was top-notch. Very informative and honestly, if it wasn't for the poor English, it would deserve a place in the newspaper. Keep it up! ^_^

Your guide is pretty flawed. As I can tell from being someone who has caught 160 golds himself, using Dictator with this 10s, no matter what modification (even M4), is stupidity. 

 

Edit: Highland is the map of Railgun? Wow, I just cannot understand where did you get this idea. And also, a map with so many drops like Serpuhov or Silence actually needs a wicked fast hull, not a heavy/medium one as you suggest. If you do so, you are just limited to your base and surrounding areas.

 

Conclusion; anyone reading this guide, please, do look on the shortcomings in this guide and use it with caution.

It's ok to edit my mistakes, because I was focusing on my German exams, so I have some issues with the grammar and I will study English again. However, I want to write more articles about this topic, so I will keep your notes in mind and I hope I will see an article in the Newspaper.

I don't understand what you are trying to say?

Isida is bad since it will heal your teammates.

But remember that we are not playing JUST to get the gold box, if I got 50 points in battle score while everyone else is chasing the gold box, that is good for me also!

A gold box is a great opportunity to get some kills/heals!
